    I find the Mk IV 22/45 to be a great teaching tool for new shooters. Being 22 LR makes it cheap to feed, which encourages more trigger time, and the grip angle on the 22/45 is similar to defensive handguns. It's an easy, uncomplicated gun with little recoil, so it's good for building confidence and learning fundamentals. I wouldn't recommend it as a first gun, since it's pricey and not appropriate for self defense, but I definitely recommend a rental with a brick of ammo for learning to shoot, or just enjoyment.

      @Njazmo ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Umm, .22 can, and has been killed a lot of people in the world, so I wouldn't tell people in the interwebs, that "it's not defensive handgun".
      Yes, ammo is cheap, and recoil minimal, fun thing to shoot.
      Still, a gun is a gun, it doesn't make a difference, if it's used as a defensive or offensive matter.
      If it's pricey, get a better job. I've shot many Rugers, and they're great guns, and worth the money.

I feel that it's an awesome teaching gun combo. It's light, quiet, no recoil, and you can coach someone without muffs. I had my 6-year-old son running a beer can around the yard. Big smiles on both of us.

He then said see if you can put that together. First time I ever saw one apart. I got together in about 1 minute. A month later my dad got one and couldn't get it together. He called me and said help. I drove over and after 3 hours we took it to Larry for help. He got in under a minute. if you put your thumb over the "slide mechanism" it is a little quieter. if you watch it your video .25 speed you can see it tries to cycle. there is a mod for these to hold the "slide" in and make it a single shot or bolt action style but it does make it a little quieter. and it's nice that it only quarter cycles instead of a half or 3/4 cycle causing a jam and also making more noise. I have 2 of these and love them both. I don't typically shoot suppressed but when I do I I like to put my thumb up. this trick works with sub sonic and standard ammo.

    I have the exact same gun, same color! I love it. Mine would not function with a suppressor and sub sonic CCI 22LR either. Had to run regular 22LR to cycle with the suppressor installed. Have heard similar from others. Regular velocity 22LR will not accelerate to super sonic in a barrel that short. So no need to run the subsonic ammo in a pistol.

      It doesn't have a grip safety tho so it probably isn't a great analog for a 1911 anyway. Excellent pistol but theres more to a 1911 than the side panels of the grip. The trigger is much different and its a single action with an exposed hammer. Nothing like this shooter. Great gun tho. Threaded barrel is nice.

      I got the tx22 Toro gen 2 after reading all the amazing reviews, several issues right out of the box. Sent it back they replaced the magazine and still tons of failures to eject. When it did shoot it would be on target for a couple rounds and then 3 feet to the right at 50 yards. It got swapped for a 22/45

    I’m the same way. When I go to the range, I don’t want to be loading mags-especially if I go to one of those indoor ranges that charges by the hour. Every mag-fed pistol I have, I usually have at least six magazines, and more often than not, eight magazines for each.

    A McFadden loader makes it a breeze to refill mags. Best investment for a Mark 4. Also, the Volquartsen trigger upgrade makes this a Ferrari. Then you have to plan on shooting a lot more ammo!

    I admit I'm put off by the futuristic look, especially the tubular slide. But I would get one based on the continual improvements they made in taking it down and cleaning etc. It's made for practice and improving skill and that's more important than its look. I'm surprised it doesn't hold more than 10 rounds.

    I have one of the first versions of the 22/45 Lite. It had two clearance reductions associated with it. I got it really cheap and sure, it's harder to takedown but it was cheap. For the average person, the price point of the new Mk.IV might be a little exclusive. Of course, in the past you would have to convert a Mk.III with a paclite barrel and all that (expensive $900+ for the barrel) stuff just to have the super spy suppressed pistol.
