God damn, those graphics could pass as an early PS3 title. Crazy how good developers got at making PS2 games as fully optimized as possible. What a great sendoff to a fantastic console
It looks totally like PES 6 with updated squads, adboards and kits. Still wonderful game which shows how powerfull PES 6 and that old Konami engine was.
Shoutout to the one kid living in the middle of the boonies somewhere who's still playing on the PS2 because his parents didn't want to get him a new console. Whoever you are, you're solely responsible for the PS2 lasting as long as it did.

The era of 2008-2014 of these PS2 versions was just incredible. I waited PES 2012 to switch to PS3. PES 2008-2011 for sure was better on PS2 ! Of course PES 5 and 6 was better in gameplay, and the fact is the gameplay still changed over the years in PS2.
in my opinion the ps2 version of pes 2014 is one of the best soccer game ever. on ps2 the game is close to the excellent pes6 but with some few improvements.

The best version of PES on PS2 is PES 8/9 in my opinion. It just seemed like the ball physics were better and the AI was more realistic. I also preferred the lighting and textures. It captured a better atmosphere. The later ones on PS2 were smoother though but they could have done more with it, maybe mix in international management with master league. They should have kept world tour mode too but updated the challenges.
This is the last game ever released for PS2, and in this season, Real Madrid get their La Decima, their 10th victory in UEFA Champions Leage, such a memorable year for me.
Newer doesn't mean better. I still play on my ps2 because newer generation consoles are shite and games are now made out of hate towards the player rather than to entertain him.

When I saw how it was in 2014 (PC), I decided to wait until one worthwhile, buy 2016 out of respect for the anniversary. PD2: I still do not understand why fans hate the PES 8 and its "rubber" animations. That animation of the movement of the joints was slower and that gave it a special and more realistic touch for that moment, even I think they are better than 2010. (only animations and gameplay) The lack of content is evident.
From what I can tell it looks like games stop being made for a certain console generation after the next gen is over since ps2 games stopped when the ps4 released and ps3 games at the ps5
