  • This is the reason my garden is producing so well this year, and will continue to do so in the future. I am confident that once you grasp this simple gardening truth, it will allow you to grow more fruits and vegetables. I helped arrive at this gardening truth through the words of masanobu Fukuoka and the wisdom of many others. Gardening truths like most truths are simple but layered and deep, I hope I can help peel a few layers off the onion for you.

      There must be a reason why God could have put humanity anywhere, yet He chose the garden: "Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it." - Genesis 2:15
      Gardening is so incredibly profound. Watching plants grow and eventually bear fruit, helps us to understand how Jesus Christ works in us to bear fruit of the spirit.

    I absolutely LOVED the quotes! DEFINITELY going to add them to my "quote book." It still amazes me just how much Mother Nature can inspire us beyond the garden. How many small things do we do in the garden that we can apply to the rest of our lives as well?!! I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 6 years ago. I was able to convince my boyfriend (after MUCH debate!) to help me build 6 raised garden beds on his family's 100 acre farm. The peace and joy that I've been able to get from growing things (stress triggers my tremors), the teaching opportunities I've had with my sons, not to mention the physical labor to help keep me strong have all been blessings beyond the harvest we are just now starting to enjoy! (We just harvested our first 4 Serrano peppers tonight with more on the way! WOOHOO!!!) I just ordered seeds to start a "fall garden" in 2 beds that didn't go "as planned" and I can't WAIT to see what fall will have in store for us!
    Keep up the AWESOME videos! You're enthusiasm is absolutely infectious!
    P.S. You should get a jacket for Tuck that says, "Garden Security!" hehehe Then, when you take him out, you can claim that he's a "service dog!" (jk)

    It was Masanobu Fukuoka's "One Straw Revolution" that got me interested in growing *with* nature, instead of fighting her. I didn't actually become a gardener, though, until I realized how outrageously priced leeks are (bad case of sticker shock for me!) and I thought I'd try to grow my own. Haven't looked back, and every growing season we do a bit more, grow a little more, grow at least one new variety of something.... Gardening is such a tonic and a balm to the spirit!
    Thanks for posting your videos, James, and may your garden continue to bring you peace and joy.

    Hi James, I have to say you are part of the reason I am inspired to start replanting my garden and turn it into a food forest. I live in sub-tropical Northern New South Wales, Australia. I live on a 125 Acre farm which we returned to rainforest 30 years ago, with very little land available for food production except for bush tucker (ever tasted Davison Plum Jam ?) . I do have a small citrus grove and a raised area which is above floods. Back in February this year I started a veggie garden again in hugel kutlture beds because my soil in that section is total clay. I have to say I have had brilliant results so far from this method. In the past I grew only in containers and have had various gardens which have been destroyed by neighbours cattle disappearing with snow peas on their horns up my drive way, flood and drought and total despair. You have shown me many ways I can rethink my approach with wood chip etc. Thanks to you and Tuck I am on my way to a "food forest paradise". Many thanks and blessings, Muffy from Oz.

    New gardener here, James.
    Had 5 various hot pepper plants last year.
    Saved seeds last year from store bought plants.
    This year I decided to try starting from seed, for the first time, ever. (Only habaneros, only to make Hot stuff)
    As you said, I was nervous, wasn’t sure how well it would work…
    I trimmed it down to 24 amazing habanero plants.
    Gardening is exciting when you decide it’s what you want to do. I probably check on my habanero plants 4 times a day 😂 remember, that’s all I have, is my 24 habanero plants, all together. If I had your garden, once a day would be plenty for me.
    It’s exciting to know that you started it from seed, and nurture it to grow, and produce fruit.
    And I’m still going to talk to my plants, because they’ve been flourishing.
    Happy gardening, Bro.
    Love the videos,
    And give Tucker a pet from us!

    Thank you so much for today's video James. Very meaningful! I do have a question. I normally practice companion planting and a bit of crop rotation. In a food forest with the woodchips building such rich soil do you think there is a need for crop rotation? For instance, would you plant your tomatoes in the same area as last year? I'm already taking notes and planning for next years perennial planting but want to keep space in mind for annuals. Thank you again for bringing so much to the table and such a thoughtful perspective to gardening! Love to Tuck!

    Every time you start a video with that Jersey Greeting my habitual response is "who is that guy picking a fight with me" then you talk about Gardening and I am reminded you are one of us (Gardener/homesteaders). That Jersey Body Language can be a bit aggressive but you are one cool dude and I love watching your videos, say Hi to Tuck for me.

    • @juneshannon8074
      @juneshannon8074 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Liberty too aggressive for me. I find it immature and annoying, but I overlook it, as I do learn bits and pieces of gardening.

    • @johnliberty3647
      @johnliberty3647 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@juneshannon8074 Its not a maturity thing, its a cultural thing. One of the reasons why I like this channel is because it gives me a chance to relate to someone from NJ. NJ Culture is different and I have struggled to get along with people from NJ because of it. I watch this video and I see I actually have a lot in common with someone from NJ now. I helps me to overcome any bigotry I have towards people of that culture.

    I'm subscribed to your channel and LOVE it... Also Tuck. Sorry I'm not a commenter. But wanted to ask, sorry but I'm going deaf and you usually have captions. But didn't this time 😟... Your a great inspiration and hope someday (hopefully next year) I'll be able to garden. Always did love mother nature. Unfortunately I worked construction and loved it but seriously injured my back. I was constantly active when not working also, loved hiking, used to be in great shape. But since I messed up my back so badly it took away my livelihood and everything I love to do. I never sat down except to eat. I've spent the last 10 year's looking for a neurosurgeon but they're all afraid to touch me especially since I'm getting older. But I haven't given up hope... yet. I just hope I'm not to old to be able to have a life again by the time I do find a good surgeon! Give Tuck a hug for me, he's so friggin cute. And thank you for being an inspiration.
