If it started raining now while I was fishing I'd probably stand up in the middle of it and praise God for some Texas summer time rain.

Amen to that Brother, my son and I went to Lake Fork this past Tuesday. Every boat dock on the lake had dry land under them and our usual boat ramp was not useable. We need rain in the worst way here in Texas!

We haven't had much rain at all here in SW Nebraska this year, but as I'm watching this video, I heart thunder and the clouds are building :) I have both lightweight and Gore Tex jackets, if I'll need a rubber suit, i'm staying home!

Something definitely different here! You don’t get much talk about rainwear. At those prices, I’ll probably just stay home if it’s raining. But it’s nice to know the options. Thanks

Great info. I’ve been wondering about all this since rain is sometimes the only days I can get out and fish. Unless there’s lightning which we have pretty frequently sadly. But thanks for the info dieter. Hope to see more great content. God bless you

Wish I had the best rain coats, all I have is the light weight frogg Togs . We got caught in a heavy rain storm Friday and we were about 6 miles from the dock. It was a long miserable ride back to the dock, glad my bilge pump works good

Have you had any luck with the water proofing sprays? I usta spray my rain suit with scotch guard types of products once a year on my "economy" rain gear and it seemed to work. Getting the seams coated/protected was the biggest challenge.
I also use SofSole water proofer on my ball caps to help repel the rain. It also makes it easier to clean them up. Mud, oil, sweat stains release easier and don't get soaked in. But you have to spray them before you ever wear the cap to be the most effective.
    Thanks for the video!

Thank you for an honest guide, I simply hate these reviews that postulate that the modern rain clothes is totally waterproof. Try driving for 8 hours in hard rain on a motorcycle, and you remain dry, then is it waterproof. I almost guarantee that already after 15-30 minutes in a Gore-Tex will the water begin to seep in.
I have worked as a cameraman for TV and really regret I invested in one of those "top of the range waterproof" set, no, the only things that work is the old style you presents at last, the standard set your kids had in the 1970-1980:-)

The Grundens and Frogg Toggs offer options with camouflage patterns, which is worth considering for those who enjoy hunting also. Sadly the quality of the Frogg Toggs has gone down. I had a recent Frogg Togg purchase where a zipper broke loose under normal use after not even a years of use and the warranty is not an easy or enjoyable experience. The first set of Frogg Toggs lasted me over two decades of use before they lost the rain resistance and I'd swear by the company until I got a lemon set.
