The interstate highway system is one of the many reasons small towns are dying in America.Lueders has been experiencing water shortage for a very long time which is also a contributing factor why the city is dying. Its sad to see a once thriving city in this state.
I used to drive Trucks and I would pass by Lueders but I never imagined most of this homes were this torn and worthless... Thank you for taking the time to show us around this city before it disappears completely.
Thank you for making this video. This is my hometown. It was very bittersweet watching this video and made me tear up a bit. I’ve been up and down those limestone dirt roads for many years. It’s definitely gone downhill even in just my time of being alive. A lot moved away simply for more opportunities for jobs and a better quality of life. Unfortunately though alcohol/drug addiction plagues this town also and is a major factor in the decline of it. I’ve watched so many friends and family members get caught up in it (myself included). I refuse to go back there because it’s absolutely heartbreaking and painful to see the state of it. I will always cherish the good memories that I had there though.
I did a wheelchair evaluation here. I live in Waco. Drove up with a seating tech. Just he and I and I had never seen anything like it. My ex husband’s hometown in Texas was 454.
This is extremely sad the area don’t look that bad to be dying not to sound ignorant or anything I think theirs still hope for the area 😩 just reconstruct and try again Marybeth better housing programs could’ve kept people in the area? … maybe ?
Lueders used to have one light flashing off & on downtown on Hwy 6. Always reminded me of the country song "A Midnight Girl in a Sunset Town".
