Ditch the bluetooth and give us a stainless steel case and 50m water resistance and this would be a near perfect watch. I have to say I think you're wrong about Casio needing to introduce touch screen controls, the beauty in buying any retro style digi Casio is that the battery lasts and lasts vs smart watches of today.
if it was metal, you be moaning that the price is to high, then if it was metal you be moaning about something else. i I believe Casio believe that you cannot please everyone so it's best to have a happy medium like price over precious metals for example
I like that they're sticking to retro designs with less features. IMHO if casio try to compete with fitbits or apple watches, they risk losing their brand identity.
IMO there's a big niche the ABL-100 is virtually alone in - watches leveraging the smarts of a phone by using bluetooth, which don't need constant charging. Ideally I'd like to see something with the form factor of an A-500, with Tough Solar, full dot matrix, Bluetooth, touch, and a desktop app which allows folks to write their own software for it. Oh, and obviously a metal and glass version. Nothing in that space, and it could kick off a whole new generation of diehard fans IMO.

I like this one. I don't care about the steptracker and BT. But 5 alarms and DT is nice. However, I'm perfectly happy with my A158 which is affordable, replaceable, carefree, fantastic comfort/looks ratio providing classic looks, bringing back nostalgia. Even more comfy than my f91w it hugs my 17.5 cm wrist better! I do not agree with all y'all complaining about the resin case. Resin is awesome! Buff out the scratches!
actually the bluetooth is very good, it always synchronizes the exact time with your phone, so you never have to set it. DST calculation, traveling to another time zone, etc...
You can buff out the scratches on unplated resin - but all three colours of this are plated. As for 5 alarms and DT, a very large number of non-basic Casios have had both those features over the years.
Casio has been selling step trackers for years, I have two. They just brought out the WSB1000 which is a resin watch with step tracker and dual time functionality like this watch (same chip?) for about US$55 The feature set of this watch is good enough, the last thing we need is a distraction source on the wrist that runs out of charge around 4PM every day, you can get this from Apple and Samsung. I wish Casio would come out with more steel and mineral crystal models, even if it costs more.

This watch has power saving feature. It has P1 and P2 power saving mode. P1 is activated after 150 minutes of inactivity and P2 after 6 or 7 days. With power saving mode activated battery lifetime is 36 months.

Most of this video I was like: WTF are you talking about?! You have no idea what are you talking about and wishing for. Really. Unless, you want to make Casio not Casio. Few examples: People complaining that Casio is not typical "smartwatch" are silly [to say the least]. They don't understand Casio policy. I don't need "smartwatch". I need Casio which can last lifetime, just like my Casio watches from the 80's. No software BS. The Watch. Current Casio displays (except negative ones) are perfect and amount of functions in basic Casio line is also perfect. These are timeless watches rooted in the 80's and 90's, designed and built to last. Classical Casio display is clear, tough and small power consuming. What else do you need? Think about it because you haven't. There are plenty models with extra sophisticated features for professional users like runners, hikers, fishermen, divers, soldiers etc. which require extra protection. Casio is still developing. They are still pioneers. Check out Casio hi-end lines. There are so many hi-tech involved! Typical customer doesn't need all bells and whistles in basic Casio watch model. And this is smart approach by Casio. That's why Casio has outstanding price/quality ratio like no other watch manufacture. That's why you have plenty of options and you can buy exactly what you need. Bigger display doesn't automatically mean better time reading. You compared ABL-100 with F-91W and like you could seen [or not] hour/minute digits on the F-91W are bigger, regardless smaller display! In Asia: coping is the biggest compliment. PS Bluetooth make no sense for me in this watch. And I would prefer iconic "Alarm Chrono[graph]" on the dial - not "illuminator".
I agree. I love the fact that Casio keeps the simplicity, reliability, and aesthetics of the 80s & 90s. If someone really needs bluetooth & modern features then they should honestly look for something that isn't Casio. The world doesn't have enough companies that do what Casio does; sticking to older designs without compromising the quality. Having said that, I won't get upset over them releasing stuff like this, as long as it doesn't end up replacing what they've been known for.
Is the bluetooth activated all the time? or is it possible to turn it off? not a big fan of having a bluetooth device that close to my body at all times
@@Oldcasiocollector thank you for the response. Manual reads frightening, saying the watch comes with reduced capacity battery so replacement is required right after purchase. And they didn't specify battery type. Thanks again.
I have a feeling Casio will come out with a model with upgraded material and band for this model (and priced accordingly obviously). Its just a really nicely designed watch with some nice features; where else do you get a stepcounter and BT connectivity in a design like that?
I like the A168 look as I've always thought the A168 was a particularly good-looking watch, and I like the slightly larger size. However, it seems like this would have been a really good opportunity to swap the cheap, chrome-plated case for a proper metal one, and they didn't elect to do that. Also, if bluetooth is already set up, having it provide notifications of inbound emails and text messages would have been yet another good feature. The day/date line could easily scroll text messages; this was a great feature on my old Pebble and Martian watches. I'll be really interested to see what they do with pricing. The price for this watch in Singapore is around $90 US, I see....pretty steep when the only real added functionality is a step counter and Bluetooth time adjustment; it's not like the $20 A168 doesn't already keep really accurate time.
Good job Casio, I bought one and it is really good as an everyday watch. Now make a metallic version with a mineral glass and a better bracelet . I'll be happy to buy one. Do not agree with a different screen. The key feature of that old school lcd screen is the really small power consumption. An oled screen cannot be on all the time because it will fade over time and consume a lot of energy.
People in the comments are complaining about not having a metal case but this watch is only 80€. That is still a cheap watch that offers a retro look and more modern features like automatic time syncing. If it was metal it would be at a price point where you would have to compete with A LOT of other nice watches, including actual smart watches! Casio's thing is cheap no fuss watches, which is exactly what this is.
An E-ink display would be interesting. Also navigation, compass or something more high tech. I do like it to be stand alone though, with a multiple year battery life. That's why I bought the original remake. It just always works and is not in the way or uncomfortable in any situation I did find it a pretty expensive. Especially for how basic it is. not even having a 4th button for the stopwatch. Which even my cheap watches from the early 2000s had. I guess that if you want features they think you'll buy the G-shock. But I bet with 2025 tech they could but some really interesting tech in this kind of size....
It got physical buttons and is pretty simple, I don't like having touchscreens on my wrist. I thought I could control parts of my phone with it, like play/pause, skip and volume for audio. That's the only thing stopping me from buying it.
Whoa. Looks like it's not yet available in the US. Multiple listings on eBay from $115-$150. Probably not worth quite that much, but if it were in the $50 or less range then I'd be all over it. I'd love to have a dress(ish) watch with a step counter. It would be even better if I could find an aftermarket metal case. How is the battery life? Is it rechargeable or do you have to replace the battery? I would imagine that Bluetooth and the step counter use up the battery pretty rapidly.
I checked in the UK, only available on the casio website. If it's in the shops i'll buy one. Also, casio's step trackers are supossed to be quite inacurrate, so hopefully they sorted it out.
Casio will really do everything but give us a premium full-steel A168 with sapphire glass - in the classic styling, so no mother of pearl or negative displays like the A1000s have. My two A168s both broke at the lugs around the 5 year mark. In the meantime I'll just stick with my gshock 5610. I want things that last.
My biggest issue with most Casio's is the squashed left hand hour digits - looks so cheap in 24hr mode but tbh it's probably just me but nevertheless it really bugs me
No it is not. No good water resistance. Metal bracelett that rips off hair. Bad battery. Plastic watchcase. Useless stepcounter and bluetooth for one of the most accurate watches now wasting battery. That is also the reason it is bigger.
B650 used to be my daily watch, but once I've put ABL100 on my wrist, it became my most favourite Casio by far. Can't agree with the touch screen though. We don't need another smart watch with 90% of useless features and a need of frequent charging.
What I love about casio is their retro look and the fact that they take me back to better times. If I wanted a smart watch I'll buy one, the moment casio start doing this modern crap it's over for me.
Goes the same for me, but I still can find tons of retro models, without bullshit functions. But, from marketing point of view, they try to cover as many customer levels as possible.
it's time to move on my friend. Stop living in the past not everything could be retro if you want retro go on eBay and buy an 80s or 90s Casio it's time Casio brought things to the 21st century with modern technology stop living in the past.
@@Oldcasiocollector Nah I only only buy vintage mechanical of ebay. Oh and there is a reason why you can buy a 40 years old casio in working condition on ebay this days, let's see how many of this modern smart toys survive 40 years from now. I dont mind technology I don't live in a cave but a touch screen casio watch ? No thank you!
It's very very nice but the fact they still push this crappy resin case in it... gosh The watch would be perfect if modders like SKXMOD releases a stainless steel case for it (and with a fair price of course).
Too bad it doesn't have a configurable notification icon. So for example, have it show an icon when you have an u read e-mail. Would be a great 'hybrid watch' if it did.
Graet video and great watch! Although having differente sizes is great , for some like me who have the small wrist (16.5 cm) it is better to use both sizes and a personal preference for anyone. The blutooth thing, ... I am not sure... hahaha
In my opinion this watch is useless 1) it is still made of plastic 2) the bluetooth functions are pointless apart from finding your phone: if you have to use an app to set time, date, countdown timer, alarm, why don't you set them directly on your phone?
What wrong with plastic? Your paying $60 what do you expect? Also you dont have to set everything by the app, you can set it on the watch. The app is there if you want it. How you can call a watch useless that tells the time, step track with a graph, stop watch, timer, phone finder, date, time, 5 alarms, is beyond me. Anyway appreciate your comment
@@Oldcasiocollector The chromed plastic is wrong because it can be scratched nd ruined very easily, and with time the brass of the case will come outside. Having an app to set what you can already set on the watch is pointless: if I want to use the watch I will set them through the watch, if I have to use an app...I can set them directly on the phone! This do not apply only to this watch but to main Bluetooth watches by Casio. Since it is made in China, with this price they could at least have offered steel case, in that case would have been interesting. Obviously IMHO.
Kind of dissappointed with it, it doesn't work with the stepcounter, I've been bouncing around like mad, and it is stuck on 353 steps, it won't budge past it. I've been swining my arms, running around, the stepcounter just don't work sadly.
This watch is far from being modern in any of its features. It can't vibrate, it can't tell you when you have a phone call, so what's the point of a bluetooth connection? How does it sync the time? But the amber backlight is impressive, and I'm not interested in modern watches at all, so I bought one and I really like it. :D
Not for me at all (I essentially like the Casios I do for how little they do beyond great timekeeping) as I have no smartwatch interest, genuinely nice to see your enthusiasm though! Imagine we'll see plenty more 'smartish' Casios soon enough...
Been waiting for something like this for years, this gives me lots of hope for modern casios

PS
Bluetooth make no sense for me in this watch.
And I would prefer iconic "Alarm Chrono[graph]" on the dial - not "illuminator".
I disagree. But thank you for the essay.
@@Oldcasiocollector You have no arguments, pal.
Ok.. Bluetooth doesn't make sense to you... Don't turn it on... Easy... Great essay btw
@@Whirlybird88 Wise words. 100% truth.
Really good ❤. Casio is emphasizing a lot with their GSHOCK models & I like it as well. GSHOCK is following the trendsetters & doing it pretty well. 🎉
Where to buy it ? Delivery to Belgium ?1
I wonder if it has a black version? with resin strap?
no it wont be
Link for purchase?
Is the bluetooth activated all the time? or is it possible to turn it off? not a big fan of having a bluetooth device that close to my body at all times
you can turn it off
Nice one, I wonder what battery it takes and how you replace it.
@@deltawing9 cr2016 and unscreew the back, slot in the compartment
@@Oldcasiocollector thank you for the response. Manual reads frightening, saying the watch comes with reduced capacity battery so replacement is required right after purchase. And they didn't specify battery type. Thanks again.
@@deltawing9really, i must have missed that.
Do you charge it or is the battery six months... How much is it
2 year battery life
You can connect your phone to your mobile??? 😅😅
and your mobile to your phone lol! darn i need that haha
Does it have vibration?
no
@@Oldcasiocollector thank you! 👍
the heart of a g shock in that one. from the step tracker g shocks
What model?
An oled screen cannot be on all the time because it will fade over time and consume a lot of energy.
ok
Thank you for your Review, I am a new about watches, and I am very like it, is there any other bluetooth retro design watch in Casio?
Available in the USA? Not on the US website yet.
it was this week it was released in the uk. maybe the us will be soon
People in the comments are complaining about not having a metal case but this watch is only 80€. That is still a cheap watch that offers a retro look and more modern features like automatic time syncing. If it was metal it would be at a price point where you would have to compete with A LOT of other nice watches, including actual smart watches! Casio's thing is cheap no fuss watches, which is exactly what this is.
they are cool watches
An E-ink display would be interesting. Also navigation, compass or something more high tech. I do like it to be stand alone though, with a multiple year battery life. That's why I bought the original remake. It just always works and is not in the way or uncomfortable in any situation I did find it a pretty expensive. Especially for how basic it is. not even having a 4th button for the stopwatch. Which even my cheap watches from the early 2000s had. I guess that if you want features they think you'll buy the G-shock. But I bet with 2025 tech they could but some really interesting tech in this kind of size....
Where your order this?😢I don’t find in in eu?
I love it! How long will the battery last? My old a168 lasts 7 years!
the battery cost a dollar, why does it matter....... but its 2 year battery life if you use all the functions daily.
Do you get a notification on it when you get phone calls?
no. that would be a smart watch
@@Oldcasiocollector I only asked cause on the site it says it receives notifications . Intimating that it may have smart watch type features.
15:05 I think the new line will explode in popularity. Simple, modern. It has what everyone has been thinking about for years.
What is the number after week day? Year? Temperature? In the official images there’s a 30, so it’s a bit confusing.
It's year 😅
Where are they available to buy?
uk
Whats the app called?
How about “casio”? The most dumbest question goes to you. Well done
Is this available in pakistan? And whats price
How should he know???
Ever used Google???
Casio will really do everything but give us a premium full-steel A168 with sapphire glass - in the classic styling, so no mother of pearl or negative displays like the A1000s have. My two A168s both broke at the lugs around the 5 year mark. In the meantime I'll just stick with my gshock 5610. I want things that last.
My biggest issue with most Casio's is the squashed left hand hour digits - looks so cheap in 24hr mode but tbh it's probably just me but nevertheless it really bugs me
yes ok
Now I'll need to find it to add the support to my RCVD library/app.
Finally... I buy it. It's resin but... I like the design. I think AliExpress metal mod soon !
people that shop on aliExpress........ what can i say that wont offend
I don't like the text ‘Step tracker’ in place of ‘Alarm chrono’, but this seems like a superb offering.
stop being petty and grow up, moaning about insignificant things. Enjoy the watch and move on.
@@Oldcasiocollector I will, I promise :-D.
Been waiting a long time for something like this 🔥🔥 Do you need your phone with you all the time for the Steptracker to work?
you will love it
I’ll answer the question.
No, you don’t need to have your phone with you to use the step tracking.
@@e28forever30 thanks

No it is not.
No good water resistance.
Metal bracelett that rips off hair.
Bad battery.
Plastic watchcase.
Useless stepcounter and bluetooth for one of the most accurate watches now wasting battery. That is also the reason it is bigger.
My steps don't seem to update live like your does, I won't if it's defective unit.
strange
Casio, we need this in the USA 👍
B650 used to be my daily watch, but once I've put ABL100 on my wrist, it became my most favourite Casio by far. Can't agree with the touch screen though. We don't need another smart watch with 90% of useless features and a need of frequent charging.
I here its becoming a top seller with many places sold out. so maybe your wrong
I like this watch and please let me know its availability thanks
best to check on casio website as uk and a few other places have it,
What I love about casio is their retro look and the fact that they take me back to better times. If I wanted a smart watch I'll buy one, the moment casio start doing this modern crap it's over for me.
Wise words.
Oh and there is a reason why you can buy a 40 years old casio in working condition on ebay this days, let's see how many of this modern smart toys survive 40 years from now. good
It's very very nice but the fact they still push this crappy resin case in it... gosh
The watch would be perfect if modders like SKXMOD releases a stainless steel case for it (and with a fair price of course).

I am not sure... hahaha
the strap on that looks like the strap on the calculator watch i sent you...
@@xtr1092 its more or less the same
Lovely, but not yet available in the States.
Yes it is, I just checked the Casio website... $79.95 for the silver, $99.95 for the gold (only 2 options they have currently available on the site)
Since this is made in Thailand it’s kind of a eye catcher, NGL, it looks good, but I would like to own that GD010-1A.
Цей годинник має ідеальні розміри, і класичний дизайн. Обов'язково його придбаю, як тільки він з'явитися в продажу.
In my opinion this watch is useless
1) it is still made of plastic
2) the bluetooth functions are pointless apart from finding your phone: if you have to use an app to set time, date, countdown timer, alarm, why don't you set them directly on your phone?
It would be great if they did it in actual steel... this exact model.
dont think they will
@@Oldcasiocollector I purchased the GMW-B5000D, which of course is more expensive, but the look of this ABL-100 is the best, imho…
Kind of dissappointed with it, it doesn't work with the stepcounter, I've been bouncing around like mad, and it is stuck on 353 steps, it won't budge past it. I've been swining my arms, running around, the stepcounter just don't work sadly.
Nice. Might buy.
we dont do mights
There's a 20% discount code. It's easy to find and makes it £56!
Not so sure about the gold one and the price hike..
yes i paid £55
Given that it's a (sort of) exercise watch, I'd expect Casio to release a plain resin one on a resin strap.
This watch is far from being modern in any of its features. It can't vibrate, it can't tell you when you have a phone call, so what's the point of a bluetooth connection? How does it sync the time? But the amber backlight is impressive, and I'm not interested in modern watches at all, so I bought one and I really like it. :D
casio is a backwards company, it use to be a forward thinker
Not for me at all (I essentially like the Casios I do for how little they do beyond great timekeeping) as I have no smartwatch interest, genuinely nice to see your enthusiasm though! Imagine we'll see plenty more 'smartish' Casios soon enough...
Fair enough!
