The whole f2p thing should be marketed as a demo tho. Having to explain to new players that they cannot use their colored gear unless they "upgrade" is kinda embarrassing.
yeah as a game designer. thats not how you do F2P like even if you wanna encourage as many players as possible to buy the upgrades, you HAVE to have a way to achieve end game content without real money to be able to call it free to play. alot of games have skated around this one too...while im glad it did get the FTP or as you more correctly called it the "demo version" because the game is just as fun as it looked...if they want to call it free to play and make it so you have to hit 15 with all classes, one at a time since you only got one slot...then save up a large amount of gold to buy it, or buy a currency that can buy it THAT is Free to Play. also to be clear to actually qualify the only thing they need to give grind access to is the harder dungeons and a bit unrelated but i dont see boosters as paid items being pay to win either in most fps games...they are so casuals dont get left behind, they can spend some of the money they were making while not able to play to grind faster...just put that in there to give a bit more perspective on my views. (admittedly with only a formal degree, and no industry experience, I have been a gamer for about 25 years or more now) but yeah, i think the negitive reviews are justified for the most part because what we have now is most certiantly NOT a Free To Play version. might as well just call it a trial keep one char limit and put a 48 hour time limit if they are just trying sell more copies...or just do what they are doing and call it the demo version.
@Gravid_Gamer-gg8td exactly! Good to have someone who agrees with me. I'm curious if South Korean gamers are more open to games being labeled F2P the way they've done, or if it really is just a major disconnect from reality.
@@GaryBigtoes thats what happens when the industry giants get away with some bullshit to many times. the little guys are watching the big guys, and they just assume thats industry standard if AAA does it...not Dark and Dark devs...just in general its partially our fault, probably mostly our fault as consumers for letting them slowly encroach into poor business ethics... something to consider the Games industry has out earned Hollywood for over two decades now.
any sector with that many money hungry investors/businessmen is almost guaranteed to decline in quality and increase in price. runaway capitalisms at its finest. (dont get me wrong i still think Capitalism is the best one method way we have atm...where the actual best form of governance and economy probably comes from a blend of everything we tried so far.)
@@GaryBigtoes also i dont think the Devs of Dark and Darker did anything wrong morally, or that they were intentionally trying to deceive peeps to get more feet in the door. i think they used the words with the most hype, not really considering a misunderstanding. the fact their CEO is their Creative Director makes this mistake even more forgivable. it was a simple mistake, knowing what they know now they woulda been much more careful in their branding and marketing for the f2p mode. im fairly certain of that, based on their track record.

My favorite longsword player is happy and using a new reposte weapon? W patch, how does the game feel to you Sparky? My best friend quit playing because he was a longsword main and wasn't really having fun. But now it seems like you can run actually good gear and not be slower than a crawl when you're in plate. Looks like the boys might be getting back on.

Sooooooo we got upgraded to legendary accounts if you had not gotten it originally so we should be able to access the play test server now b/c we got our accounts upgraded? I tried to download it and it, i was able to launch the game, make an account name, but when i got to the character creation screen to make a druid i could name it and but when i clicked start it wouldn't make a character O.O can and one else play on the play test server and mine is just bugged? or are we not granted access still even tho we have legendary status?
Not sure if test server is working atm. Hopefully druid comes out with wipe in 2 days

For Brazil the game is very expensive, they also didn't explain very well about the free part of the game, it's annoying to play and not be able to use the items you collect...

Yeah hopefully they can figure that out. Good thing is that since cheaters can't trade or go high roller, there's basically no real point in cheating on free accounts.

I’m mad but I’m not. We need players but come on. At least gimme the blue torch. All who bought before free came out should get something for being here and kinda help make this game with quality assurance from the community. Some of us ogs are kinda sad face rn. Personally I don’t mind. I see it as a good thing. But your dealing with gamers who get butthurt easily. The game is intense enough for some. Not me of coarse but. Hehehe this is just me trying to get the blue torch cuz I came in maybe 3 months late hahaha. I really don’t care. Love this game regardless.
don’t forget the season rewards you were able to unlock from the last two seasons that these new players will never get!
It’s not really free to play it’s like a free demo lol, no trade no HR ONLY normals on one character… they will have to pay the 35 or whatever to get what we all have

Blue torches and camp fires are a disadvantage, people see it from a mile away and know its a player. The grass is always greener.
