Through most of this fight, I was like “Get down here, and stay down here!” Then his wings burnt off, and I regretted ever saying that.

warhammer/Metroid just like his Metroid appearances, Ridley is VERY determinated and never give up, even when he dies haha. I guess Ridley fans like us were as relentless as he is.

Whereas Ridley was in the first game, zero mission, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Super Metroid, Other M, and if you count the X parasite version of him Metroid Fusion. Kraid was only in 3 games, two if your taking into account the fact that zero mission is a remake of the first game.

Gotta love how he loses to Samus, gets shot in the chest by a bunch of lasers, falls off a cliff and explodes, and still comes back a couple games later.

Yeah. You can get Metroid 1 and 2 from the 3ds Nintendo eshop and the rest from the wii u Nintendo e shop. Just skip Federation Force and Other M and you're good.

I've never seen anyone say this, but anyone else fucking love those wings? They were so tiny in the 2d games and here they are so much better looking.
I love the bit in Phendrana Drifts where you see a large silhouette of him and see him flying.
Remember I stopped playing the game for two weeks because I couldn't beat him. After I beat him, I quickly got my ass kicked by the final boss.
Killed every boss at first try so... I can't understand your problem. xD

Unless you were playing on trilogy version hypermode or your just lost with the controls because prime 1’s bosses are super easy

I love how much of a sensory overload this boss is, especially with the mad time signature of the music. Even the noise made when Ridley stomps (starting at 5:10) sounds like someone punching the high end of a keyboard. As if you hadn't noticed, that is one dangerously pissed off space dragon.

This was way easier than the GCN version (NTSC at least). For one Ridley never did that repeated jumping attack in the 2nd phase. It was almost always the charging attack. Secondly, without the free aim you couldn't as easily target Ridley's mouth and stun him over and over again, so dashing out of the way was absolutely vital.
Yeah, hypermode made it even crazier.
you can turn Free aim off
I played it on the wii version (hard mode which is the equivalent of the GC difficulty) and it's not easier.
He just timed his charge beam well enough to interrupt the charging attack.
Plus, double jumping is a way easier way to dodge it than dashing away.

I recently fought Ridley in the first time in many years. He was flying and I kept chipping his health away thinking "hey, this is easier than I remembered!". Then he landed... That bloody ram attack...
There are things that never gets old. This game is nothing but art.

Wow... for a game with such a realistic art style compared to games like _Wind Waker_ or _Yoshi's Island_ that look almost exactly as good today as they did when they came out, this game holds up _really_ well in HD...

@@JustAndre92 The game holds up well even without the HD mod which is really cool. I played prime 1 and 2 a few weeks ago and it felt like I was playing a game from early 2010s
A game that holds up well even when it's given an HD resolution is a nice sign of its dignified quality at the time. A game that can hold up well for at least a decade is great, but one that can go at it for over 20 years is legendary.

I was so glad of the missile glitch whilst fighting this guy, and I would also like to say that this still looks stunning to this day.
Nintendo needs to port this to the switch ASAP! It’s been years that I’ve played the trilogy
If You're interested The Wii U has the trilogy for $15 which is a huge steal considering they've been selling for like 200 on eBay and its 3 games in one :P not sure if it works on the switch thou!

Probably one of the most annoying things in MP. If you're going to make things last so long, please add a new lifebar for each boss phase, this is just cheap and misleading.

I love how this guy is using the Wii version of the game (metroid prime trilogy) so it makes way better on aiming and fighting him
The graphics have held up surprisingly well. The textures are outdated for sure but if those get updated the game would look amazing on modern consoles and TV's.

Its crazy how this game came out like 20 years ago and we still havent come close to making a game that looks even remotely as amazing as this
The coolest thing is, Ridley can talk, but Ridley and Samus’ rivalry is so on sight, that they just never speak to each other, they just instantly try to kill one another, and yet it’s their hatred for each other that prevents that from happening.
Like in Zelda, Link and Ganon’s rivalry is explained due to link and Zelda’s bloodlines being cursed to forever deal with some incarnation of Ganon, but in Metroid, Samus and Ridley will fight forever cause they hate each other that fucking much. Ridley will never beat Samus, but he hates her so much that he will never die, and will always come back in some shape or form. Love Metroid so much man.
Nintendo, would you pleeeeease put the trilogy on the Switch already?

Ridley: So What?! I could always collect the remains and artifacts from your charred corpse! We Space Pirates can always figure out the solution! We did so with the mutagenic substance!
Samus: That’s not what your people’s logbooks have been saying! You’re own destructive natures and disgust for Chozo ruins and artifacts have prevented you from solving the mysteries of this temple!
Ridley: Well now I know the secrets of this temple! And it’s all thanks to your efforts! So you’ve done all the dirty work for us! You technically qualify for a Space Pirate. Technically. I still resent the girl who nearly killed me on K-2L! I will never tolerate your existence so long as I’m alive, you dirty b*tch!
Samus: I am never associating with you or your gang of criminals EVER! Even if it means killing my self to stop you, Ridley! You are the worst thing that’s ever happened to me and I will make sure you’re out of my life for good!
Ridley: Well, in any case, be sure to send your parents a post card in the great beyond and tell them 'Uncle Ridley’s got things covered, don’t worry!'

I really dont care how tough Meta Ridley is, I'd fight him on Metroid Prime anyday. INFACT he's been a challenge to me ever since I've had this game on the game cube.

My first and fav Ridley battle. In fact, this turned me into a fan of him.

Accurate that you get to the final phase and the video isn't halfway over. He really does come at you like a freight train if you don't have the timing down.

My fav memory of this comes thanks to my husband. I recently played through the Trilogy on Wii U and he has never seen or played a Metroid game. He knew most about who characters are cause I gush in hype to him constantly. Well it got to this part and I knew exactly what was coming. I said aloud "I feel like I'm forgetting something"
Soon as Ridley roared and flew onto the screen, and he set down his tablet and was completely engrossed in the fight as I whittled away at Ridley.
Never got the scan before you killed him? Fail. Start the game over man.

To this day I still count this amongst the most difficult and rewarding bosses to beat
The omega pirate, handed my ass to me quite a bit on my first few playthroughs on the cube. Meta ridley was pretty easy til you face him on the ground. If you've gotten good with strafing then he isn't too bad. Also when i fought Metroid prime the first time, it took me months to get him to his core essence phase and he was toast after maybe one or two more deaths.

Hmm I wonder if the Chozo architecture and lighting towards the end of this boss battle influenced Breath Of The Wild's architecture and machinery such as the Guardians and Divine Beasts.
Is pointless, but I LOVE the feeling of shooting missles, rapid fire or wave beam shots trying to take him down when Ridley flies away.
Arguably the best Boss flight in "Metroid Prime".

I'm sorry but the lack of super missiles is a fail.
IF the MPT has one flaw, is that the bosses don't do much damage as they should, in a potential remaster they should increase their damage by 4 times at the least but even that would be low still

After finally buying Metroid Prime remastered and being introduced to the metroid franchise for the 1st time (yes this is my first metroid game) I fell in love with this game and this boss fight was AWESOME! just like when I first fought him in uh (Brawl's Subspace Emissary)
This is my second Metroid that I own currently
Yeah my Ripley doesn't act drunk in the last 10% of health 🤣
This fight changed from awesome in it's first phase, to unbelievably tedious, boring and downright broken in it's second phase
Moral of this battle: *Be careful what you wish for*

Raven Beak could beat Ridley, I'm sure. His power suit was more advanced than Samus'. That and he could fly so he'd have no problem in an aerial battle.
Hopefully the switch version of trilogy looks this good(if it comes to the switch)

I had better luck sticking to charged plasma beams the whole fight - looks like switching to normal missiles takes much longer.
Super missiles are pretty effective. Not sure why this dude thought the normal power spam shots and normal missiles would be super efficient.
@@jerseygirlgm2303 It's also pretty unreliable. If the Super Missile is not charged and fired in the short timeframe Ridley is stunned, you won't make any damage and you will have to repeat the whole process all over again.
Ok so I'm not sure if it's a glitch or a feature of metroid prime. But during the second phase of this fight even when stunned and open to attack. He won't take damage as if the weak point won't respond. Or just doesn't register like this

I maintain that MP is one of the finest games I've ever played but man, those bosses are just too damn exhausting. Shoulda taken half the time considering how little new actually occurs throughout the stages of them. Slowly whittling down health bars in miniscule amounts at a time is really not fun.
Feel exactly the same, with Zelda you know you have to do it 3 times and its done. But this game its over and over again
Man that last phase lasts fucking forever
God, I want to know what is going on with that missile noise and attack at 3:00 . You only see one burst of missiles, but they scatter all over and are fired and land at different intervals, and then you hear the sound of them whizzing by a second time and there are more explosions, but you never see a second set of missiles.
So like, is the attack including a second set of missiles that spawn invisible? Do the missiles have a secondary explosion after landing and that cues the sound again? Or does each individual missile have the sound effect and it just plays the entire thing one at a time? Meaning that if a missile is spawned, it will play the entire sound cue, though only once rather than having overlapping missile sounds, and if a missile still hasn't landed after the cue ends it will cue it again?
Idk why, but something about the animation and sounds of that attack are just badass as heck and it just sticks out to me for some reason.
I'm just gonna say it; this fight can take a deep breath and blow me.
There should be a Metroid game called Ridley's Vengeance. That would be so cool.

This is my favorite incarnation of Ridley, the second one is Omega Ridley from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and the third is Ridley's clone in Metroid Other M, previously was Meta Ridley from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, but now i think Metroid Other M is actually a good Metroid game (not perfect, obviously) after Metroid Prime: Federation Force came out for Nintendo 3DS in the franchise's 30 yeas anniversary, i can see Samus crying more than when she lose her parents and when Ian and Adam Malkovich died.

I beat him first try in the remaster, but that isn’t saying it wasn’t stressful. The Omega Pirate is still harder, as that one actually managed to kill me.
