Greetings to you from -30 C* here in Canada. When ever I see you videos my mood changes to the better. Thank you for your kind happy personality so original so refreshing, also enjoy to hear beautiful birds songs, I wish to visit your paradise garden. Keep up doing videos like this helps a lot:)
Yea I took on the challenge because I knew most won't....and if nobody ever does it then how will we ever find out all that we can about our orchids and what they are capable of. I had a little bit of orchid anxiety about it...but I do believe believe that the sacrifice is never greater than the reward. Thank you for joining me on my orchid adventures! HAPPY GROWING! :
I love that you started selling orchids and would like to purchase something from you. I tried to rescue three different types from Lowe's that were in horrible shape. Only the one Phalonpsis made it. The others were to delicate and had black rot big-time. These were my first orchids ever . I have a true grow light and a West facing window for indirect light. I want something that is easy and resilient. Something that will bloom for me like the coconut orchid, the easiest orchid ever you had in hanging pot. I have plenty time to care for my plants and many pets. I have several spinal enjuries that are degenerative and am home most of the time. Sorry for long comment. I absolutely love orchids and ur videos brighten my day Everytime
Hello there and thank you for joining me on my orchid adventures! ...and so sorry to hear about your your unfortunate experience with your orchid rescue missions...I've lost some over the years as well. Please check me out on eBay as I continue to get new orders on a regular basis. Also many of your brassavola hybrids are hardy are hardy orchids and also free flowering and can bloom throughout the year. There are some catts that can do that as well but you really have to research which ones.
If u have time and light, have u tried a Vanda? My mom does well with hers and I mostly haven't but will never give up. I love the Brassavola as well, very forgiving. Stick with Maria, she's like the orchid medium. Lol. Intuitively can see certain plants with certain people. Xoxo
Dilly Orchid I actually just purchased a young Vanda ( V. Pachara Delight. ) last night at Lowe's.I made sure that all the roots were healthy and free of mildew and rot. It's not a rescue cuz I wanted a success with this one . My Phalonpsis which was my first rescue is doing very well. May actually bloom later this year. I was having a hard time choosing and thanks for the suggestion, do you know how to find Maria on eBay, I don't have a clue.
As far as light, I have a perfect bathroom window that allows bright slightly difused direct sunlight in on one wall and fades to soft indirect light on the opposite wall. It is perfect for many different types of orchids and other high humidity plants. Last year was my first year with orchids and now I am gonna include some carnivorous plants and turn my private bathroom into an oasis all my own. We almost have the place paid for so I can do anything I want now that we don't rent anymore
Queen Isabella oh my goodness, it just took me 20 min to find u to respond. Lol. I thought I could find it real quick for u, I was wrong. Have u joined "MY Orchid Adventures" on Facebook?! I think there is more info there, u could ask and someone would answer instantly. Great group. I'm NOT going to "should" myself, I "should" know the answer. Sorry. Welcome to the hobby!!!
I wish you would have left us see how you placed them in the container. Pieces with the root side probably down, how far I don’t know??? The pieces with both ends cut, did you place them on their side or one end down with the new growth points going up, and again how far down????
Woah, my jaw dropped when you cut all the roots off! 😆. I had no idea this method was even possible, so good luck! I guess you’d know by now how successful it was... I’ll look the video. Thx!
U didnt show how u planted those cuttings for them to be viable...and u didnt show the result of this attempt in the end...any video of that. Im especially interested in jow did u sow them in orchid medium and peat moss. Plz enlighten us on this... will be waiting for your reply mam.
My "EXTREME PROPAGATION" videos have been my most "EXTREME LEARNING EXPERIENCES" I always learn so much from them...especially things that I never would've believed orchids can do. Those are the best learning lessons to me! Thanks for watching and I too can't wait to see what transpires!!!! ...I'm on the edge of my seat now! LOL!
Hey thanks for trying and shearing this propagation method .. just got a question about the open wounds ? do you think I could use cinnamon powder to make it dry faster in order to prevent any infections during the drying time ? Thanks a lot angain :) take good care of youtself and see you in your plant adventures :))
Nice! The culinary way to propagate Catasetum ..... culinary propagation, or cucumber method. It will certainly be interesting to see results of this batch. If one doesn't try, then one won't know. And even if this batch doesn't work, should try at least a few batches or more - just to make sure. Hoping to see a web-link for details about how these cuttings turned out.
i want to see what's next with all the cuttings, how long will the new growth of the catasetum appear, when are you going to place it on the prepared medium?
Thank you for joining me on this extreme orchid adventure...and I am so hoping that they do sprout their little orchid babies! If I can get at least one to sprout I will be more than happy! This is one of the those experiences that I would've never believed unless I seen it with my own eyes! When I first seen the pictures I was like..."No freaking way!" So I just had to see it for myself!!
Hi Maria, can you please let me know how did it go with the catasetum extreme propagation? I had to cut mine today, and would love to know what to expect. Thank you Maria.
I know....and it was...but I do believe that greater is the reward! Let's keep our fingers cross...and hopefully I don't fall on the floor...because I am also at the edge of my seat! LOL!
Thanks so much for watching and for your positive comment. I am not quite sure what boxes you were referring to...are you referring to the wooden orchid containers?
Fica a dica: para o replantio das catacetum, na limpeza não precisa cortar todas as raízes. Ao cortar passe canela para cicatrizar. Não gostei de ter cortado os bulbos. Só quero vê o resultado disso.
I have an orchid plant whose roots got damaged i have cut the roots i want to kbow how to pot the orchid now. What will be the potting mix. Please reply.
Thank you...and I am anxious to see what happens. Thanks for your well wishing and for joining me on this extreme adventure! HAPPY GROWING AND KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED! :)
I am not sure as I have never used it. I don't have outbreaks with spider mites but I have heard people treating it with water and dish detergent combined and also using neem oil. Best of luck with whatever you choose to use.
Thank you so much for joining me on my orchid adventures and for your very kind comment. I am so happy that my video was beneficial for you and I am hoping that you visit me often! HAPPY GROWING and I am wishing you the absolute best on your orchid adventures! STAY AWESOME!
What ended up happening with them?! I'm currently taking care of one for my friend and had to separate the newest pseudobulb from the rest of the plant. I would love to try and propagate them so that I could have one of my own! :))
The initial media that I used is called fern bark....you were talking about the media right? ...and just to let you know that this form of propagation is very difficult to do and is not something that I would recommend as a form of propagation for this orchid. Please see the catasetum propagation update video that I posted after this video.
LOL!!! The weather has been bright and sunny...feels like early summer weather...and indeed I can't complain! :) Thank you for your positive feedback...and big major hugs right back atcha! HAPPY GROWING!

I am so glad that you found me!!! Thank you so much for joining me on my orchid adventures. Sending much love from Florida all the way to you in Vietnam!!! HAPPY GROWING! :)
ME TOO! I AM AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT! ...I do hope they make it and the propagation is a success...it will prove yet again how amazing our orchids are and once again showcase their phenomenal will to survive!
Hey Maria! I`m in the situation where I may copy some of your propagation methods, so I watched your videos once again. And now I`m wondering how this story went on? Did they make it? And btw: Thanks for taking it for the team ;)
I decided to change my method to sphag and bag and then didn't keep an eye on it...let's just say that it was not successful. I will have to do an update on it.
I KNOW RIGHT!!! I got a little nervous...but I pushed myself! I believe the reward will be greater than the sacrifice and this is a part of learning all about our orchids and what they are truly capable of...if no one does experiments like these how will we ever know...THE MORE THAT WE KNOW...THE MORE THAT WE CAN GROW...has always been my motto! I AM SO GLAD YOU FOUND ME!!! ...and I am even more happier that my videos have benefited you in your orchid adventures and I hope you will visit often! I do have to admit I am not your average grower and I do believe in fully enjoying our orchids to the fullest and having great fun with them! I am wishing you the absolute best and many, many successes with your orchids! LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH...AND GROW ORCHIDS!!! HAPPY GROWING! :)
Thank you for your kind words...today you have inspired me! I am hoping all is well and wishing you only success in your orchid adventures! HAPPY GROWING AND STAY AWESOME!
Today I don't know what happened to mine mind, that i want to see your first ever video, and i searched it and found it but it is not about orchid, its about something else,I don't understand what is that, can you pls explain it little???
I did do an update on the catasetum propagation and unfortunately I changed the way I was propagating it and neglected it. It did succumb to rotting issues. :( :( :( I may give this a try again one day...but it is the hardest way to propagate.
Frank Drebbin Just shut up dendrobium and that resting orchids can be propagated like that and its fine i have chopped a den phal (accidentaly) and it started to give a keiki just to survive to connect life, they love living orchids are very very beautiful... and you can think that its torture, torture is killing orchids which are out of bloom i ve seen people that defusing orchids even if they re healty but actually THEY WANT TO LIVE :'(((
LOL!!! I KNOW RIGHT!!! Funny thing is I do agree with you! When I first seen the picture of this propagation...I thought to myself..."No freaking way!!! That can not survive after something like that". But the more I looked at the picture...the more curious I got...I began to inspect my catasetums and their plant structure...and it became more and more logical. It reminds me somewhat of how a potato works...you can cut it into several pieces and just as long as it has an eye it has the capability of sprouting a new plant...so I do believe it can indeed survive through their baby offspring. I am anxiously waiting to see! I will send you a message to let you know if it worked or not! LOL!
Yasin Yıldız Please don't do that, everyone is entitled to their opinion and how they feel. And although this is but a propagation technique...it still is difficult for some to actually do this type of propagation that I do consider extreme. I did this as a means to discover how much potential an orchid has to multiply, but would not use it as a regular method myself.
MY Orchid Adventures Opps..:( im sorry and you're totally right. Why i said is probably beacuse of my English you know im not a native speaker but other reason why i did is he said the same thing in the comment section of MissOrchidGirl and called it as a torture IM SORRY I THINK YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PHOTO I GOT ANGRIER WHEN I SAW THAT PICTURE SORRY AGAIN I SHOULD SHUT UP
Sending full my supports😍💚☘️🍀🌿
Can you give us updates on what happened to your extreme propagation 101? Much growths did they have? Thank you so much.

This was interesting is there a part 2

What we can use as anti fungal formula
Hey Maria! I`m in the situation where I may copy some of your propagation methods, so I watched your videos once again. And now I`m wondering how this story went on? Did they make it? And btw: Thanks for taking it for the team ;)
Any updates?
Yes, I did an update on all of them. I will find it and post it.
What happened?
Can this be done with dendrobiums?
It absolutely can be done with dendrobiums. I usually use the sphag and bag method or the terrarium method for those types.
Pls update
Can u please help me out with fungus
What is going on? Are you dealing with rotting issues and what are the symptoms?
What's going on?
So, what about the result?
I decided to change my method to sphag and bag and then didn't keep an eye on it...let's just say that it was not successful. I will have to do an update on it.
