My mom just passed this week and I played this for her daily while she was in Hospice care. Even though they said she was comatose, she turned her head to listen to it. Your beautiful version of this song helped her to let go and go home to the Lord. Thank you so much for sharing this and God Bless you!
Yep, I'm here because of Joe. I know this song like the back of my hand. We heard this during communion at our church growing up. It was a favorite of my mom's and dad's. What a beautiful inspiration to draw from. God bless and keep Joe and Kamala and their families safe and healthy.
Instant tears. I couldn’t even sing along like I wanted to lol. I love this song. People have tried so hard to instill fear but being reminded that God will always protect me is the greatest reassurance.
I have known this song most of my life, and have always loved it. But hearing you sing this with such tenderness and feeling made it feel like it was a brand new song. I know you recorded this years ago, but it was just what I needed to hear right now, today. Thank you for sharing your gift.
My grandfather has just passed & my family asked me to cantor for his mass, singing this as one of the hymns for him next week. It has always been such a beautiful song.
I listened to this again tonight, Chris! A friend lost her husband to Covid yesterday. I turned to your music to try and find some peace, in what is a tragic time for my friend.
Beautiful, just beautiful! So glad Joe Biden quoted on Eagles Wings in his first speech as President Elect. Let us have faith that better days are coming!
What a relief, I just found out I have to play this song for a funeral in two days. Simple and to the point and easy to follow. Big help. Saved a lot of time. Bless you.
Thank you, Mr. Brunelle, for your beautiful rendition of this hymn. The image that President-Elect Biden posed of the people of the United States--all of us, undivided---being held up together on eagle's wings is very healing for me, and your pure and simple version painted that picture beautifully, allowing me to let 4 years of tension unravel. Let us pray to the highest in us all that we can come together and move forward.
The first time I ever heard this song was at my great-grandmother’s funeral back in 2012. This was her favorite song and we knew it’d be perfect for singing at that occasion. To this day, I still take quite a liking to it.
I just wanna say I love listing to your music videos on your channel your voice is so uplifting and peaceful I absolutely, love it I’m a catholic I’ve been listing to you for quite sometime and I’ll continue to do so thank you 🙏🏻
I often play this during communion. Like 'How Great Thou Art,' people never seem to get tired of it. I remember one woman was especially happy when I used it last Ash Wednesday.
Chris I always find your renditions well done. You sing with sincerity and allow the piece to speak for itself. You are a fine accompanist for your own work too. Thanks again.
Oh I love this hymn. I remember learning this from John Michael Talbot's "Table of Plenty" cd. Just sang this last month. Love the melody n lyrics. Thanks for recording it.
God has blessed you with a wonderful voice, Chris. I love listening to you sing. GOd bless you and all your loved ones. From many distant shores... here in Sri Lanka, from the isle of the Indian Ocean, I send you greetings.
This song was sung at my grandparents funerals its been 7 years my grandfathers passing and it Will be 12 years this November I lost my grandmother she would have turned 92 yesterday she was a very pretty woman and she loved to sing I miss during this time of year just the fact she loved the holidays but she would be so proud of her growing and loving family...I love this song but not during mass because it puts tears to my eyes but you sing it so well. Thank you.
This is absolutely a beautiful version of this song.. this song has always had so much meaning to me for different reasons but your version Is my favourite By far!
This is the most beautiful of all I have heard. This psalm tethered my heart to the Lord and His love and protection so many times some years back. I shared it with my brother, and that also is the testimony of him and his wife. Thank you so much for this!!!!
I found Fr. Joncas reviewing a book about a theologian, Chauvet, who'd figured in a Bob Hurd book along with Karl Rahner, sent him a note about Rahner, starting with my singing this song a lot. So far, no word, but I had to search a long time on the internet to find a rendition that I liked, namely, his. I said the first one I found sounded like Perry Como: that was after I stumbled on the Biden connection. Your version is in the right spirit, which is to say, it has spirit. I think that summarizes Rahner. Liars work too hard.
Back in the 80's my niece and I sang & played guitar in our folk group. This was our favorite song. When soon to be President Biden quoted this in his speech, i couldnt stop the tears! Such a beautiful song to bring back such awesome memories! God bless you Joe Biden and thank you Chris Brunelle for your beautiful music. I listen frequently... especially when I'm feeling sentimental!
Thank you! The song is most often used at funerals....and could be used at any part of the service. It could be used at other points during the liturgical season but so many people hear it at funerals that's what it's associated with

@@ChrisBrunelle I start to wonder if Biden quoted it because he doesn't expect to live too long. He doesn't seem the sort who would view it as a wedding song. When I sing it to myself, I change "fowler" to "poacher", which is what a fowler is, and make the refrain unisex by, well, let me fix my fix: put it all in the first person: and I will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of my hand. "Here I am, Lord" does that, switches from God speaking in the choruses to us speaking in the refrain, sort of thing. I just listened to the end of that speech, he seemed kind of out of it. He seems to think the song is about victory through air power. Refix: put the whole song in the first person, You who dwell in the shelter that I give, who abide in my shadow for life [cloud of unknowing, via negativa, etc.], say to me "my refuge, my rock in whom I trust", and I will raise you up...under my wings your refuge, my faithfulness, your shield...for to the angels I've given a command..." Voila. Thanks for the space.
@@christopherrushlau4335 That's wonderful that you understand what's going on in "Here I Am, Lord". Many people don't, as beloved as the song is. It's very powerful if you can allow the verse to be done by a soloist, and then arriving at the chorus the soloist drops out and the congregation sings the refrain as the response. "On Eagle's Wings" has been used so much at funerals in the Catholic Church, that it's become strictly associated with that type of liturgy. It's certainly not ONLY a funeral song, but that's where it became pigeonholed.
