@@bovinedowie2803 Yes he did. First one got stolen and the replacement wasn't as good. When he was recording Canton, the aluminum TB neck was heating up and going out of tune from all the sliding, so he switched to WAL - maybe influenced by Percy Jones.
How can this not be the most popular Mick Karn video? That kind of closeup of him playing, plus his physical beauty to be honest. But really, watching his hands and seeing him smile ... I could just watch this forever.
@@Reprodestruxion i always thought he was turk cypriot until i read his autobiography, i stand correct. its a great read if not then i suggest you read it too.
This clip is sheer joy! I watch it daily to smile. Thanks so much for posting! (I just wish Mick's bass was brought up more in the mix so you can hear his brilliance)
I can tell there isn't a single fretless player here in the comments... No mention of how off-fret Mick was in the majority of this video. If it was live, it would've sounded terrible! Yeah, I know, he's just miming... ;-)
depの時のミックってホントに楽しそうに笑っているよね!
Not only was he one of the few truly unique voices on fretless bass, but he was just so cool, too.
The best!
One of Kind Artist! Never forget You Mick! Your Music & Art will live on 4 ever! Love You Man!
so nice to see him looking so happy.
私もそう思います!
Mick Karn, bass genius !!! Love how he stayed true to Wal basses all the way ! Sadly missed and will never be replaced !
Erm, he played a Travis Bean bass for the first four Japan lps.

He also played a Klein and a 5 string from a British luthier which he used on the Rain Tree Crow album

@@nocre2948 I'm pretty sure you're missing my point. He's miming, and clearly isn't paying too much attention to how accurately he's "playing".
He's ok but he always sounded out of tune to me,I love Jaco so much more, the real god of fretless bass guitar!
