I think you were just making a joke, but regarding Ultimate First Clear times -- TEA was cleared in ~3 days + 21 hours, while DSR took ~6 days + 2 hours. So DSR took a lot longer. And a lot of TEA's difficulty (which caused 2nd and 3rd clear to take much longer) was due to puzzle mechanic (Enigma Codex), not execution difficulty
i dont know where this metric comes from for TEA. It was released on 11/11/19 and it was cleared on 11/16/19 at 7:26 am. All of the data is available on Mogtalk's RWF Archive

You can miss out on characterization even if the fights themselves are not canon. It ONLY makes sense that Omega would try different tactics, forms and techniques (even shouting the name of its raidwide because it thinks it'll make it more powerful) up until it twists itself into its final, twisted form because it can't comprehend what it needs to be to defeat you, and it cant even fully control its own power.
I'm glad that it doesn't seem to matter what DC you play on, Titania in trial roulette is still some of the most cursed content to get. I got it a few days ago, actually cleared adds phase first time only to have the tank turn her around and cleave the entire raid group with 10% health left. Very cool.
I, a tank, wasn't paying attention and accidentally did this a little while ago. Most of us ended up laughing about it and we got the clear smoothly the second run 😅
Funny thing about Savage is that even though it’s seen as the consistent high end duty for this game, with how long you might spend progging and reclearing it, it’ll become just some of the most automatic no thoughts head empty type of content I can go into P3S get through it without fucking up a mechanic but I still can’t figure out some of Shinryu normal’s mechanics
Savage is really not hard for the same reasons you said. Once you know it you know it. Learning it really only takes a week or two of consistent play for even casual players.

yeah it's the repeated practice that drills it into you, getting a normal trial you haven't done in over a year because roulettes only ever give you steps of faith, ifrit or ramuh, is the challenge of trying to remember/relearn on the fly.
The hardest content in the game is current Normal Raids, because if you run Savage enough, you'll get the normal version at some point, and you'll constantly be reacting to mechanics that do not exist because you no longer remember how the normal fight is supposed to work.
And then you have the secret super difficult trial that's been hidden away for so long that people just straight don't know it even exists unless they were here in the ARR days: Urth's Fount. For some reason, this Trial is STILL not available in Trial Roulette due to its perceived difficulty. It was considered an "Extreme" Trial on release and never got an update, an Unreal version or added to Trial Roulette. It's just one weird hang up from ARR that I imagine even the Dev teams has forgotten.
@@zirilan3398 I think Odin Unreal would be beyond frustrating if they tuned it anywhere near where it was intended. Mechanics are basically non-existent, so it makes up for that with lots of raid+tank damage and a relatively tight DPS check, and when you wipe due to either of those there's no real way to fix it other than finding better players. It's basically a joke at 50 now and most groups manage to one-shot it whenever it pops in Mentor roulette, but Unreal is a *lot* harder than any synced Level 50 EX, and not in a fun way.
@@cute2dfrog I hate how Unreal has this way of making gear sync feel worse than any other sort of content. You end up with the most cursed GCD, it feels like your heals don't do anything, and everything just feels wrong. Which I guess kinda captures the feeling of ARR in general.
I remember the very first 8-man content I queued into after beating 2.0's MSQ was Urth's Fount, without knowing how hard it was. We cleared it after 4 wipes, but it left me thinking, "Do I suck at this game?" Then I queued into Ifrit HM and realized, "No, I don't suck (that much,) it's just Odin."
So true the hardest part of any content is the players. Randos in trials, finding a capable group without having 1-2 people holding you back or not showing up consistently and having to pug, having a static last longer than a tier, are all things that make raiding or any content hard. It's a big reason I stopped raiding on a schedule because I was tired of having my time wasted and the perpetual hamster wheel of problems just wasn't something I was willing to deal with anymore for gear that quite frankly doesn't matter. Anyone who raids probably only cares about the gear if they are doing the new ultimate otherwise it is purely for the love of the content or the glam.
The thundergod wasn't to powerful or even difficult for me..it was just..too god damn long, this one and the last boss of the orbonne monastery are as long as one nier automata raid. (Or feel like it) It was insane.
Lol I’ll never forget me and my friend doing Thundergod DAY 1 of the release. That. Was complete Pain. We kept failing the add phase and would wipe there every time until the raid timer was gone. Only to get in another instance and meet the same fate again. After HOUURS of failing we finally got in an instance and cleared that fight. We found the last boss to be easier than Thundergod and now to this day whenever we go in that Raid we still have flashbacks of dying when he says, “AND NOW THE SCALES WILL TIP!”

I feel called out here at 9:10. As someone who started playing last year, I actually wanted to go through most if not all of the extreme fights and a few older savage fights at my own pace to experience harder content before doing the current endgame content so I'll have some experience and not be the weakest link of a pub group all the time. I thought the older savage content would be easier being lower leveled and overgeared a bit, but I was very wrong after hearing a few comments ingame as well as this video. lol Still going to try, after I catch up story wise.
@@1UPCherry Box strat was pretty nice, but if you don't skip towers then you'll have to switch to Happy. The other strats I can think of are Rin and Mith. Mith is dog shit and should never have been done after day one, but Primal did it the whole tier. Rin was pretty okay but made towers fucky since they drop the bramble in the tower.

My experience with Titania Normal Raid Roulette (Ultimate) only adds phase 1. A Tank tried to grab all adds and died like an idiot, the adds ran to the second tank and he also died, the adds hit party one by one ---> wipe 2. Both Tanks tried to grab the add that untankable and let the 2 tankable adds hit the party one by one ---> wipe 3. No one on stack markers and both healers died 4. No one died but failed at dps check or healers failed at healing and everyone died Bruhhhhhhh
Very disappointed it hasn't gotten a touch-up yet. Hopefully they will soon. That "wander aimlessly around the circle until you find the line aoe" mechanic is awful. Couldn't find a single guide that properly explained it, let alone the game's painfully unhelpful "tip" on how to do it.
Titania will always remain as the most cursed trial to get in roulette. Always a tragedy of tanks now knowing to grab adds, and the party hitting like a wet noodle as a collective
When I see it popup, I make sure to check the tanks to see if they're watching a cutscene. If so, I'll ask an undirected "tanks, have you done this before?" And fortunately I've never had a time where *both* were first timers. I can easily explain the fact that there's a part where some adds appear. Little less so explaining the part where where there are 3 adds with essentially mutually-exclusive aggro due to positioning... and there can only be 2 tanks. At least the mechanics of the fight are intuitive
the first endwalker story trial is far worse, a lot of healers fail the heal check, and when you ask them to use other spells than the first aoe heal you learn, they say that those have too high mp cost or that they have not even placed them on their hud.
I cleared arr extreme trials at lvl 50 with no prior info in fact i knew so little that i didn't even know about pf, so that means that I cleared hard-core content and no one can convince me otherwise!
You forgot the "leveling roulette" difficulty, which is more difficult than savage imo. You either clear a dungeon in 10 minutes or your tank will spend 50 minutes dying to the same mob pack because they don't know how to pop cooldowns and the healer wants to play dps instead of healing. What makes it funnier is that the same healer and tank are almost always above lvl80
I consider myself a “professional death expert”. I am an overachiever in the art of dying. I only died six times in Extreme? I probably had the flu that day. I meant to die 10 times. I have goals!!
All I remember is our tanks not aggroing the adds and them oneshotting me and the other healer because we're next in the aggro list, 3 adds, 2 tanks, recipe for disaster. That kept happening for a while until our tanks decided to read chat for the first time in their lives. That's ex though, and I think I only ever did it that one time.
Shame that Chair forgot about the most difficult of all difficulties: Triple Triad collection. If you truly wish to know the meaning of 'pain', try collecting every card in the game.
just had to memorize his rotation so you can evade before the aoe even appears on your screen, tanks had to do that anyway since his tankbuster was an autoattack because when you see the animation it was too late to activate any cooldowns.
The reason why Normal content can still be difficult to hardcore players is because, at a certain point, you won't see a particular instance for so long, you'll end up forgetting about a mechanic or two. This is basically the only reason why the not current but post-ARR Alliance raids can end up catching players off guard. Right now, everyone's either running Aglaia for the glam/coins, or deliberately nerfing their ilvl before queuing so they are guaranteed to get World of Darkness. Also, if you want to test yourself as a competent player, just run any synced Savage raid in Party Finder. As someone who's almost at BiS exclusively via PF, it's not just a test of your own skill. It's also an immense test of patience, one that most people fail after two wipes lol.
WoD on a friday night/saturday morning guaranteed to be half first time sprouts who die to every mechanic and wipe from sheer slack of everyone involved.
huh, is Titania really that bad of a trial and went under my radar? Titania is the one trial i went over and over again (both normal and ex) just to vibe with the music I (thankfully?) haven't met any problem doing it
People mostly struggle with the add phase. Either through lack of DPS and the duty gauge filling, or tanks not handling the west and north adds properly. I've had some groups fuck the healer stacks though, and the whole ground turns into fire and gives you a painful burn.
I remember when it first dropped (NM) I put my MSQ on hold and leveled elsewhere because the first 4 pug groups I joined got shut down pretty hard. Later completing the EX with my FC I noted the mechanics were nearly identical….
Is it bad I've never noticed the High end duty tab in duty finder? I just ran stuff in party finder. Guess you can always learn something new. Or FF14's button UI is tiny and obtuse.

Glad the hardest content in the game is optional. I won't go harder than normal raids and alliance raids. There is so much in the game to do that you won't need to be stuck only raiding for endgame.
Meanwhile, Gladiator, Marauder, Conjurer, Thaumaturge, Lancer, Archer, Pugilist, Arcanist and Rogue are the default Ultimate classes because nobody is able to play them…
I actually figured out I don’t want to run Ultimate cause I wouldn’t use the titles or the weapons and want to play other games from time to time. Big respect to those who run ultimates though.
A hot take I agree with. The ultimate weapons are just another primal weapon. Not dyeable=not getting used even if it is a flex because it is fail RP. Looking at you limsa ultimate afkers who think you look good with your not matching ultimate weapon.
Once upon a time hard mode content was harder than normal content, but a significant portion of that was due to how poorly optimized the game was. Hard mode should be removed from the game entirely because it is now a confusing irrelevant joke. It's just 8 player normal.

You overlooked blue savage raids here, which are their own beast. Some are incredibly easy because you either outgear them or the more challenging mechanics can be cheesed; o12s (blue), conversely, is a mini ultimate all its own. Not having standard role assignments makes it pretty brutal. ... That aside, I don't use any of my ultimate titles or weapons either. Totally agreed. They look stupid. Downvotes incoming in...

The weapons are just a personal taste thing. I mostly find the non-UwU ones kinda whatever, with DSR's being mostly awful. And the UwU ones are just reskinned ARR relics, so your taste will depend on whether or not you like the Zodiac weapons to begin with. As for the titles, I can only speak for myself, but they can be a bit misleading. You expect someone with an Ult weapon or title to be a competent player, and yet they're the dead weight in Normal content.

in case anyone was actually wondering: DRS is about on par with extreme trials for difficulty. It's labeled "savage" because of how punishing it is.
The normal mode is brutal enough already.

@@1UPCherry Box strat was pretty nice, but if you don't skip towers then you'll have to switch to Happy. The other strats I can think of are Rin and Mith. Mith is dog shit and should never have been done after day one, but Primal did it the whole tier. Rin was pretty okay but made towers fucky since they drop the bramble in the tower.

My experience with Titania Normal Raid Roulette (Ultimate) only adds phase
1. A Tank tried to grab all adds and died like an idiot, the adds ran to the second tank and he also died, the adds hit party one by one ---> wipe
2. Both Tanks tried to grab the add that untankable and let the 2 tankable adds hit the party one by one ---> wipe
3. No one on stack markers and both healers died
4. No one died but failed at dps check or healers failed at healing and everyone died

Seriously, fuck the Mist Dragon. Took three days and 20+ tries before I finally joined a group that was able to clear it.
Very disappointed it hasn't gotten a touch-up yet. Hopefully they will soon. That "wander aimlessly around the circle until you find the line aoe" mechanic is awful. Couldn't find a single guide that properly explained it, let alone the game's painfully unhelpful "tip" on how to do it.

Titania will always remain as the most cursed trial to get in roulette. Always a tragedy of tanks now knowing to grab adds, and the party hitting like a wet noodle as a collective
When I see it popup, I make sure to check the tanks to see if they're watching a cutscene. If so, I'll ask an undirected "tanks, have you done this before?" And fortunately I've never had a time where *both* were first timers.
I can easily explain the fact that there's a part where some adds appear. Little less so explaining the part where where there are 3 adds with essentially mutually-exclusive aggro due to positioning... and there can only be 2 tanks.
At least the mechanics of the fight are intuitive

Titania normal in Shadowbringers and Mothercrystal in current expansion is spooky as heck.
the first endwalker story trial is far worse, a lot of healers fail the heal check, and when you ask them to use other spells than the first aoe heal you learn, they say that those have too high mp cost or that they have not even placed them on their hud.
The next Ultimate has to be Lightwarden-themed, because I can't wait to get tired of Vauthry's voice lines.

I cleared arr extreme trials at lvl 50 with no prior info in fact i knew so little that i didn't even know about pf, so that means that I cleared hard-core content and no one can convince me otherwise!
You forgot the "leveling roulette" difficulty, which is more difficult than savage imo. You either clear a dungeon in 10 minutes or your tank will spend 50 minutes dying to the same mob pack because they don't know how to pop cooldowns and the healer wants to play dps instead of healing. What makes it funnier is that the same healer and tank are almost always above lvl80

All I remember is our tanks not aggroing the adds and them oneshotting me and the other healer because we're next in the aggro list, 3 adds, 2 tanks, recipe for disaster. That kept happening for a while until our tanks decided to read chat for the first time in their lives. That's ex though, and I think I only ever did it that one time.
Shame that Chair forgot about the most difficult of all difficulties: Triple Triad collection.

You forgot Titan on the old EU servers. By the time you see the aoe it's already too late.
just had to memorize his rotation so you can evade before the aoe even appears on your screen, tanks had to do that anyway since his tankbuster was an autoattack because when you see the animation it was too late to activate any cooldowns.
Or get a special gaming vpn to decrease ping. Titan HM fused my brain so many time as a tank. Now it's just a joke.

The reason why Normal content can still be difficult to hardcore players is because, at a certain point, you won't see a particular instance for so long, you'll end up forgetting about a mechanic or two.
This is basically the only reason why the not current but post-ARR Alliance raids can end up catching players off guard. Right now, everyone's either running Aglaia for the glam/coins, or deliberately nerfing their ilvl before queuing so they are guaranteed to get World of Darkness.
Also, if you want to test yourself as a competent player, just run any synced Savage raid in Party Finder. As someone who's almost at BiS exclusively via PF, it's not just a test of your own skill. It's also an immense test of patience, one that most people fail after two wipes lol.
WoD on a friday night/saturday morning guaranteed to be half first time sprouts who die to every mechanic and wipe from sheer slack of everyone involved.

People mostly struggle with the add phase. Either through lack of DPS and the duty gauge filling, or tanks not handling the west and north adds properly. I've had some groups fuck the healer stacks though, and the whole ground turns into fire and gives you a painful burn.
I remember when it first dropped (NM) I put my MSQ on hold and leveled elsewhere because the first 4 pug groups I joined got shut down pretty hard. Later completing the EX with my FC I noted the mechanics were nearly identical….

Is it bad I've never noticed the High end duty tab in duty finder? I just ran stuff in party finder. Guess you can always learn something new. Or FF14's button UI is tiny and obtuse.

Glad the hardest content in the game is optional. I won't go harder than normal raids and alliance raids. There is so much in the game to do that you won't need to be stuck only raiding for endgame.

A hot take I agree with. The ultimate weapons are just another primal weapon. Not dyeable=not getting used even if it is a flex because it is fail RP. Looking at you limsa ultimate afkers who think you look good with your not matching ultimate weapon.

Once upon a time hard mode content was harder than normal content, but a significant portion of that was due to how poorly optimized the game was. Hard mode should be removed from the game entirely because it is now a confusing irrelevant joke. It's just 8 player normal.

You overlooked blue savage raids here, which are their own beast. Some are incredibly easy because you either outgear them or the more challenging mechanics can be cheesed; o12s (blue), conversely, is a mini ultimate all its own. Not having standard role assignments makes it pretty brutal.

Out of curiosity, what makes you not like the ultimate weapons and titles?
The weapons are just a personal taste thing. I mostly find the non-UwU ones kinda whatever, with DSR's being mostly awful. And the UwU ones are just reskinned ARR relics, so your taste will depend on whether or not you like the Zodiac weapons to begin with.
As for the titles, I can only speak for myself, but they can be a bit misleading. You expect someone with an Ult weapon or title to be a competent player, and yet they're the dead weight in Normal content.
