  • #retireinCostaRica #livinginCostaRica #assistedliving 'Live in Retirement Community in La Fortuna Costa Rica Assisted Living Jan 2023" Well, it's been a minute since we have had an UPDATE for Johnny's Retirement Community (Assisted Living) in La Fortuna Costa Rica. There is good reason for that. Which is all the legal crap that needs to be done before the bulldozers can move in. Well, it's been done. Water tested, environmental issues and all the red tape is just about finished. In this video we drive to Cartago for Johnny's surprise in regards to the retirement community. What could it be? Cartago is 4 1/2 hours away from La Fortuna so this surprise better be good.
    7 different modular homes
quality materials (life span of the homes are 100 years)
they will be on stilts to be off the moisture of the ground in Costa Rica
made to endure heavy rains, high humidity, earthquakes and mold.
this company does A-Z (foundation, moves and builds the home, electrical, plumbing EVERYTHING, no middlemen messing things up.
homes are ready in about 4 months (very fast for Costa Rica)
since they are made in a warehouse, the rainy season does NOT delay your home
QUESTIONS about this community email us- info@travelcostaricanow.com

This is BIG, this is HUGE, Johnny has had this vision since 2007. Now the stars have aligned and it looks like this project is a really happening- 240 homes on like 110 hectare (1 hectare is 2.47 acres). This is going to be an almost all inclusive community. Organic farming, grass fed cows, chickens, vegetables, stores and also hotsprings in the community so the grand kids have something to do and much more. This community is about a 9 minute drive from La Fortuna central and about 20 minutes from Lake Arenal and it's in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano (good shot of this in the video). This is obviously a big project but it is going and we're pretty excited. Obviously much more info coming as it changes as I'm sure there will be many questions.... which we will try to answer as this community progresses. I am not trying to sell you anything I just believe this is an interesting and needed project and it is geared to gringos without the 'gringo pricing'... but remember, Costa Rica isn't for everyone but this project might appeal to some of you.
START HERE to find out if Costa Rica is right for you or not, so if you really want to get a good idea if Costa Rica is right for you- Check OUT these videos and you will know within the hour if you should pursue a life in Costa Rica or NOT. Practical quality. Ready in a timely manner. Quality materials. On stilts. Same company from foundation to finished product. Not for everyone but as I get older, the 'practical' works for me. Thoughts? **Some folks in the comments seem a little confused on the way of the world or at least the way things are done in Costa Rica. Businesses like to know where their clients come from and the people who send the businesses those clients like to know that the businesses know it was 'them'. The businesses want you to send MORE clients so they show their appreciation through paying a commission or as some of you like to call it, 'a kick back'. Travel Costa Rica NOW tries to circle themselves with businesses they themselves would use. Businesses who offer quality at a fair price and guarantee that quality. To put the name of the business in the video would be stupid. So if you want to know, email us for more INFO at info@travelcostaricanow.com and we will direct you to the right people. geeeeez, really?

I'm a Florida boi (Dade). Built a lot of houses pre and post Hurricane Andrew. These seem quite practical for a non builder. You didn't get into $/M2 but I finished mine about a month ago. Half concrete./half metal and durock national-stucco in and out. All T&G cedar ceilings. All custom Guanacaste cabinets and doors. All furrings and backers for support are red cedar. Granite(Brazil). LED/US electric code(Miami). Extralum windows. Metalco custom order roof material. Lourdes ceramic(Argentine)
450.000 /M2 2000 sf under roof.Seperate laundry/food prep building and 2 car carport. Same construction. Granited, tile, killer wood, extralum.
90 days complete. 4 of us. Lot was $26/M.
Practical and faste than normal Tico GC...for sure...Stilts and a metal foundation ? Not for me. If you do the slab correctly humidity is a non issue. Ticos don't know slabs...as they should be.They skimp, never prep correctly, lack in reinforcement, garbage concrete and goofy ass room to room with a mixer, over chicken wire like hardware cloth"INDUSTRIAL".
If you're an Expat or a Tico.Go check these guys out. It looks to me like they could be a super good bet. PAY an architect to inspect and recommend behind them and you could be really good to go. Keep it up guys. Lotsa options you have there.
Part 3. Yeah. Those "baldosa ghetto boxes" are 1/2 a step above a house trailer. These guys are far ahead of that.
Good stuff but you still need direct involvement as it goes together ( see architect recommendation) Architects like working off final value. F'em. Get a flat fee. They don't need to do paperwork or any of that. Only spec and supervise

For those of us wanting to do actual research on this seemingly exceptional company and wanting to know the name of the company, where they are actually located, what other floor plans they may have, , I think it is obvious that Travel Costa Rica may be getting a "kickback" , so I don't think we are going to get answers to those questions. It is a shame that is the case in a lot of TH-cam influencers.

I didn’t say that, my comment is a concern, I’ve done all kinds of buildings residential and commercial for decades, I also personally know difference between USs home brake ins and Costa Rican brake ins, in US, it’s electronics appliances jewelry guns. In CR it’s all of the above plus pulled toilets, windows doors lighting, wires and cables, you come back to a demolition job, with this in mind it’s a great question to ask the manufacturer and I assume within a gated communities it should be just fine, but somewhere around nowhere this lil piglet house is …..well you know, so concrete block walls offer much better security than something you can DRIVE THROUGH, ….I’m just sharing my own personal experience, in no shape or form would I want to bring any negativity without putting it in words…. Hope you understand, regards, and I do watch your videos religiously. Pura Vida!

Sure ya can ! BUT. That's why you need an architect/supervisor. Most window builders, furniture guys, "electricians", "plumbers" "agronomists", "veterinarians"....like CR "mechanics". 95% of them here are complete hacks. The diamonds are rare but there ARE some incredible craftsman...finding them is the trick. Been here as long as Mike has. I weeded out hundreds of lying, scamming, thieving, utterly incapable, semi-literate dumbasses(or more), as has Mike.
