For example, I think the rise of radical Christianity is a serious problem and causes edge cases to go off the deep end. But others, with as much conviction, would say the lack of religion is a problem. And most of thing cited as causes - violent culture, family decay, hyper masculinity, etc - break down around ideological factions. I'm really not trying to be either a) needless argumentative nor b) throwing my hands up and say, "let's not do anything" but identifying root causes is not an easy task. And, if we are able to agree on a basket of social and personal ills to address, then we get into the "how do we do it" and "what kind of resources are we willing to allocate" questions. One other thing - the OP states "As adults we all have an obligation and responsibility to lead by example." I agree. But what do we do about those adults who won't or can't be relied on to fulfill this task? We are talking about millions of parents, community leaders, cultural icons, political figures, etc who have shown themselves to be detrimental to the general mental health of America. And, even if we can agree on a set of criteria for determining if an adult is not fulfilling his "obligation and responsibility" what do we do then? Because nothing can't be the answer - that's generally what we do now and we can all see the results. If I had the answers to any of this, I would be doing more than posting a comment on a TH-cam video in the middle of the night. But, I read the exchange and found it interesting and thoughtful enough to add my two cents worth. Peace.

For example, I think the rise of radical Christianity is a serious problem and causes edge cases to go off the deep end. But others, with as much conviction, would say the lack of religion is a problem. And most of thing cited as causes - violent culture, family decay, hyper masculinity, etc - break down around ideological factions. I'm really not trying to be either a) needless argumentative nor b) throwing my hands up and say, "let's not do anything" but identifying root causes is not an easy task. And, if we are able to agree on a basket of social and personal ills to address, then we get into the "how do we do it" and "what kind of resources are we willing to allocate" questions. One other thing - the OP states "As adults we all have an obligation and responsibility to lead by example." I agree. But what do we do about those adults who won't or can't be relied on to fulfill this task? We are talking about millions of parents, community leaders, cultural icons, political figures, etc who have shown themselves to be detrimental to the general mental health of America. And, even if we can agree on a set of criteria for determining if an adult is not fulfilling his "obligation and responsibility" what do we do then? Because nothing can't be the answer - that's generally what we do now and we can all see the results. If I had the answers to any of this, I would be doing more than posting a comment on a TH-cam video in the middle of the night. But, I read the exchange and found it interesting and thoughtful enough to add my two cents worth. Peace.
