Was a huge fan of the session gopros before the flagship models got SO much better, and they just didn't know where to go with the sessions/minis. Having to do post stabilization and only having an internal battery is brutal. Especially if it can't charge and record at the same time? Presumably. The flagship models just aren't big/heavy enough to justify buying a smaller one so lacking in features. Which sucks because I LOVE not just the form factor but the general centered feel and appearance of them. They're quite good for helmet cams, particularly under the peak. Probably great for a bike park scenario where you know you wanna wear a full face and aren't recording long form trails with pedaling. Just short downhill runs. Makes a lot of sense there.
I have a Hero 5 mini and it still does good video for how old it is. I was using a 9 black but it started having issues so that's why I got a new one. I am leaning towards the DJI Osmo Action 5 now since I keep reading about issues with GoPros.
@@MTBCommunity ya the 8 was the last rock solid one. ive been clinging to mine like a gold bar. im worried at the prospect of needing to upgrade/replace. i hate the 360 ones. so maybe dji as well

@@TeddyParker The Insta360 Ace is a GoPro like camera and I have been looking at those as well but I am still thinking DJI.
