      Damn luckily first time I used a circ saw it was some cheap harbor freight garbage that kicked back on my third cut 😂 my fingers were no where near the blade but I said fuck that and learned how to use proper tools the right way.

    Even better lay a sheet of plywood on the horses to act as a table, then you just lay 2x4s underneath the plywood you're cutting parallel to the cut. Nothing gets sacrificed and your plywood is fully supported.

  • @Clipwatcher666
    @Clipwatcher666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Even if it's much cheaper to buy a circular saw every diy guy should invest in a track saw! Clean straight guided cuts, allows you to break down big sheets of ply much easier than on a tablesaw, clean cross cuts off small pieces with simple diy jigs just like a mitre saw, jointing boards like a jointer, etc. And you are instantly ready to start even big high quality projects. Sell them or take the time to save up money and build up your tool collection. Circular saws in my opinion are for job sites because of portability

  • @Bapuji42
    @Bapuji42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Even if the saw doesn't kick back, it can bind and make the two sides of the cut scissor past each other. That happened to me, squeezed the inside of my finger out like stuffing.

    This basically a handheld kickback like a table saw but it’s the blade that cuts the deepest 😮
    I was taught to have the blade set at 1/8 of an inch above the surface of the boards since that’s the amount it may cut you, basically a scratch rather than a half inch of a severe injury 😢

    I’ve always sort of instinctively done this, I just let things fall to avoid my fingers.
    I wonder if you know how to avoid kickback from a chain saw? I am poor so I had to cut a split tree down myself and I cut the whole thing without any mishaps whatsoever and then got to the very last cut on the trunk and it kicked back and I almost cut my head in half. It was a 12” electric chainsaw because I’m a girl.

    • @kevindumas1743
      @kevindumas1743 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend using a wedge, it creates a gap while you’re cutting and should eliminate kick back, I highly recommend it…

    • @Agrillot6
      @Agrillot6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevindumas1743 I’ll have to look into that, I had to cut another one down and got the saw stuck in the tree and had to wedge the tree open by hammering a hatchet into the cut to wedge it open to get my saw out of there. I’m going to have to cut another tree down this year or next, but it’s a lot smaller than either.

    Not the same thing, but made me think of it. I used to always tie off the safety lever on my walk-behind mower, convinced I'd never reach under the mower deck to remove clumps of grass. But! Lo-and-behold, one day I was lost in thought when I began to reach under the mower deck with the mower blade spinning at full rpm. Suddenly my focus returned and I jerked my hand back, promising myself I'd never again defeat the mower's safety device. I was so so lucky to come away unscathed. All it takes is a moment of inattention for disaster to strike.

    My dad had this happen to him just a few days ago. His thumb hanging a thin strip of skin and the blood came gushing out. It was a nightmare to see.

    Great video, I typically just cut into my saw horse tops, I can always just throw a couple more 2x6 on them

    My buddy Jack cut his thumb off holding a piece from kick back with a circular saw. Don’t do it

    #1 fingers in front of blade, #2 is kickback, #3 is when your filming a scary scene in a horror movie

    That was awesome. Didn't see the hotdogs coming. Yikes! Glad they're not my fingers. Makes sense. Just like a table saw, never get behind *anything* that can kick back. In this case, it's the saw itself that kicks back rather than the workpiece.
