I’m a new subscriber I’m going to Atlanta GA for conductor training for CSX Feb 19th my site is in wilmington DE and I believe you said your in the PA lines I’m working out of Delaware one is that contrail lines the same signals tests you had to take in your training also does quizlet have the right tests to practice signals
Welcome to the channel! Yes CSX in our area is conrail signals. When contrail was taken over the lines were split between NS and CSX. CSX runs North South...NS run West to East. Not sure about quizlet but you will get a training guide once you get to GA that will have practice tests.
Congrats! It's a LOT of information. Not hard information, just new information. If you study you'll pass with no problems! Be safe out there and let me know if you need anything while in training.
My husband freaked out last week when he found out he could only miss one out of 20 on the signals test. But he had a great study group and he made a 100 on that test!! He’s on wk 6 now. All on the job training until he marks up. So proud of him and he loves the railroad! Thank you again for all you do 🤗
Does everyone signal test differ depending on what location you working out of? Or is everyone getting tested on the same signals when your in McDonough
Not going to lie I’m day 3 with training here in McDonough and it seems like a lot of information to grasp and every instructor has there way of teaching besides one that really sits and really is detailed with u if u don’t understand i don’t wanna over think it or freak out because again it is day 3 with me do i still have time to catch up and learn more because sitting in the hotel room and reading from the books i read it and be like i can’t visualize this i can’t understand it if it’s not in front of me and this is not just only with the signals
Trust me you have plenty of time. I didn’t open a single book while going through training. Just take the practice tests over and over again until you memorize the questions and the answers. The questions on the practice test are exactly the same word for word on the final. You brought a laptop with you to study in the hotel right?
I have been trying to find readable material to study. I don't wanna learn the wrong things then be surprised. I would be based in toledo. I assume we would be using northern signals but I'm new and that's a guess I don't wanna be wrong on. I would be quiting 8 1/2 year job to try this.
I’m a new subscriber and I’m so glad I found your TH-cam channel. I have 5 weeks before I start school. I’m hoping to start studying all I can. But I don’t know what I need to know. Where can I find material to start studying signals? Is there a way to start taking practice tests BEFORE I get to school? Are the classes the same for all RR companies?
If you fail the tests they will give you 3 opportunities to come back 2 weeks each time, after that you are no longer qualified to ever applied with NS , they will see if you study your e learnings and your review test enough, and if you didnt you are not qualified to come for those other 2 oportunities. Our instructors tolds us that.
Yep. Thats always been the case but they have to see improvement or a reason to bring you back. Some people they are happy to see leave because their personality wasn't a good fit.
First off I love your videos they’re very helpful! Also, I just got my start date and I’m studying my signals. So my question to you is is there any easy way to memorize the colored signals because I got the position light signals down quite well but the colored signals get me confused?
Until you get to training study the signal progression material in the e-learning. Once you get there you will be issued a practice test for the signal system that you are assigned to. There are 3: NS, NW, and CONRAIL. The practice tests are broken up into 3 sections Name, Indication and Mixed. Take the Name test until you are scoring at least 95% then move on to indication and do the same. Once you are comfortable with them separately start taking the mixed test. If you try to jump right into the mixed your indications will seem to overlap. Do them in that order and you'll be good to go!
I am about to start training soon for NS. Specifically North East, out of Buffalo NY. I want to start practicing the signals before I even get to school because I know that will be the toughest for me. But the problem is that I head NS sometimes uses Conrail. Which should I practice. NS’ aspect system or Conrails?
Enjoy the content. Is there anyway I can get the e learnings so I can be better prepared? I sent a Facebook message but unsure if it was seen. Can be emailed if it’s easier. Thanks so much.
I have a question I will be going for training in the end of April. I am a former conductor from another class one. We had to write down the signals an the complete definition of them. Is that how NS dose it or is the test like online multiple choice type. I am just curious now. Thanks for the great videos you do for new people..
@@darrellmahan1892 did you ever get the job? Im from Covington in Kentucky I applied for csx the conductor position & also is the training at redi center in Atlanta or McDonaugh ga
All testing is multiple choice. The test will be identical to all the practice tests issued through "QUESTION MARK". Its their testing software. The questions on the practice test are word for word identical, question and answer to the questions on the final. There are less than 300 questions in the question bank so if your take the practice tests often enough you will eventually see every question on the final.
@@KurtisCharlton thank you! That put me at so much ease haha. Even though I’m already studying, I already feel a lot more confident that I can pass the signals tests if it’s multiple choice

Hey, is there anyway you can do a video on a practice test and show us what answers are going to be on the test and give us the answers because that would help me out a lot. With the signals test
Practice tests are only available to conductors currently going through training in McDonough. I have the E-Learning available which covers signals and if you are in the FB Group the signals for your territory are listed under "files".
Thank you for putting these content out , just subbed!
