In Europe 90s touring cars were very big, and cars like this became icons. Plus these cars were in Gran Turismo which helped keep their icon status for a few more years in the younger generation that perhaps cant remember them race.
Absolutely love the range that Slot.it have made as well as NSR and Racingsideways they are race winners out of the box and like you if you use their range of tuning parts you can create a total beast of a car
There used to be european touring car series, but the DTM was just german. Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. Main difference to nascar is obviously the lack of oval tracks...but in terms of racing, especially during that period it was probably as heated and unforgiving as nascar.

Think of DTM as the European version of NASCAR
