    I bought 2018 outlander LE, its nice but engine is underpowered, cup holders are not in a good position, but everything else i can live with it, for the price i paid for this car, the competition is at least 5k more, i’m happy for what i got!!! I forgot to say the warranty for this vehicle is awesome!!!!! So if you are looking for a decent suv and don’t want to pay top
    Dollars, i will suggest go for the outlander!!!

    It is what it is. It's a small station wagon type SUV that gets incredible fuel mileage for what it is. So, if you want more power, get a Mustang or a Vette. If you want to haul more, then get a truck or big SUV. Of course, in both instances, you will be giving up that 34mpg the Outlander gets. I'll mention that we had two Outlanders that got almost 300k miles without any power train issues. Just keep the fluid and filter in the CV transmission changed at proper intervals.

    Nitpicking the dislikes. I’ve owned 4 in the past 6 years with 200,000+ carefree and dependable miles. Best bargain out there! Awesome warranty. OK, so it isn’t the fanciest brand out there, but what is your expectations? If you want foo-foo, then spend $5-10k more. Everyone who looks at or rides in my Outlander is totally surprised at the quality and value.

    My wife and I bought an 18 se. Overall we are very happy with the car. There are a few shortcomings compared to competitor models but it would have cost us easily 5-7k more in our area, with a warranty that isn't even comparable. Obviously price is a big selling point but the warranty is was had me sold on the outlander. The whole reason for us buying a new car was I don't have the time/energy for working on clunkers anymore. Another key point I don't see mentioned often is the ground clearance. It sits 1" higher than comparable cars. That's huge living on a dirt road in the country with an average of 250" of snowfall without much road maintenance at times. Which brings me to my only real gripe with the car. The wheels, they collect snow like nothing I've ever seen. Driving through drifts and a plowed in driveway gets to be a pain. I clean out the wheels just as much as brushing snow off the car. Honestly I can't totally fault Mitsubishi for this anyway. The large open wheels are just part of the newer vehicles these days. Again, overall we are very pleased.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s interesting to hear about the snow with the wheels, but I’m guessing that the SAWC does pretty well for you. Good point on the price too...it really is a good value! I’m glad to hear that you’re happy with it and I hope that continues! Thanks for sharing that!

  • @palebeachbum
    @palebeachbum 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    All fair points. I will say though, at 5'7, I found the cloth driver's seat extremely comfortable. I have a bad back and the contouring of the seat back felt very comfortable to me. I've certainly driver vehicles with far worse seats that make my back cramp up and my butt go numb after awhile. I agree though the SEL and GT should have standard power adjustable lumbar. Considering Mitsubishi vehicles are good basic vehicles and more value oriented than anyone else, I can certainly overlook that omission.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All well said! I know what you mean about other seats being uncomfortable...I got rid of my last vehicle because it was too uncomfortable for me! Very true on Mitsubishi’s value orientation. As a whole this vehicle still seems to be a good value. I appreciate your input 👍

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prime Autotainment what uncomfortable vehicle did you get rid of?

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      palebeachbum a 2013 Honda Civic LX. 2 reasons..the head restraint was too far forward for me and I got leg/butt pain which I didn’t have in any other vehicle.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PrimeAutotainment Interesting. I get leg/butt pain as well on some seats. Hardness of the seat doesnt seem to be a factor for me because some very plush seats cause me that issue, while firmer seats such as those in the Outlander don't.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember you saying you liked the cloth seats I. The Outlander, I got to sit in the cloth seats and likes them more than the leather on this other model I tested. So that’s awesome!

  • @NunYaO
    @NunYaO 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I recently purchased a Managers demo 2018 Outlander GT with ~31k miles and I LOVE IT!
    Although it's the 6-cyl model, it has cloth seats (which is preferable for Texas heat, IMO) and doesn't have a sunroof (also preferable, IMO).
    The larger engine definitely provides more acceleration capability than the 4-cyl and swaps the transmission to a more standard gear/plate setup versus the belt setup that Mitsubishi is known for...making future repairs less expensive and potentially extending the transmissions operating life...or so I am told.
    I am a little disappointed that the 3rd row seats don't permit installation of car seats for children...because that would've been convenient and makes accessing the 3rd row nearly impossible if car seats are installed on the 2nd row. Also, the position of the seatbelt in the middle position of the 2nd row doesn't permit a child's car seat to be installed correctly...so, if you need more than two seats, or just want to use a middle seat position for safety, you're basically out of luck.

  • @jimmaccari1489

    Nice review. Your likes are mine. Mitsu should just make them all V6's and get them off the premium fuel
    on that engine. On trips at night the lights are awesome. You won't out run them. The 2.4L is as you said.
    If I didn't need to tow I'd go with one but in a headwind on an interstate it will tire you and its hard to keep 70 mph because it is a SUV and a normally aspirated 4 cyl.
    In the end-a great ride with the V6 and not just for the econo class. The warranty is great and my local dealer
    is extremely competent. Easy oil changes too.

    I find the power output of the 4cyl quite good for normal day to day driving, accelerating from lights the engine rarely goes above 1800rpm, my SE model doesnt have the sunroof so head clearance for me in the second row is good even at 6ft. I agree with you on the center console storage space, that area in front of the cupholders and to the side of the shifter is poorly laid out.

    I own 2018 one in Poland. Damn, in Europe this car comes with 2.0 MIVEC CVT 150 HP engine and it's super underpowered. And this "7 gear" CVT gearbox is quite annoying to me.
    However I love LED low beam lights which in Europe are only auto adjusted. Also I don't like these cupholders coz I can't fit a water bottle in It. 0.5 L is to small for it, 1.5L is to big. Anyway, here warranty is 12y for body and 5y, 100k km (around 60k miles) for rest.

    WATCH OUT FOR LEMON & POOR CVT Outlander. Bought new 2017 Model 4cyl in Jan 2018, had first transmission removal around 4300 miles. Engine Oil leaked through CVT torque convertor area. Same problem kept happen within 3000 miles range, Lemon lawsuit case filed and still waiting for anything from Mitsubishi. 10yr / 100000 miles Powertrain warrenty does not cover 100% for this matter. Luckily my bumper to bumper covered those issues.

    I just bought one two weeks ago and I can’t agree more. I don’t mind that it’s underpowered and grossly keep it in eco mode a ton haha. I’ll get as much gas mileage as possible with this thing but I always tell my GF to kick it off so she has somewhat of power. Loved the review.

  • @gustavojoseperezlopez2928
    @gustavojoseperezlopez2928 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I bought one of this in 2016, the top of the line with 4 cil. Interesting: you felt that the front seats are comfortable, and I don’t; and I feel that the 4 cil. are great, quiet and frugal in gas, and you don’t. 😅😅. Btw, when I had people in the third row, it’s feel underpowered, but I resolve it with the “s” mode in the CVT, the engine holds revs for long time and I feel the difference in the throttle.
    But I agree with you, my bigger complain its with the center console; but the 2016 has a different layout in the cupholders, and give a space for cellphones and Wallet. Nice Review!

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cool that’s sweet you have one so you know it much better than I do lol.
      The seats were interesting to me...I wish they had lumbar support, but I never got uncomfortable with them. Typically 30 min trips to work.
      You’re so right about the S mode...I was really surprised lol, makes a big difference. I appreciate all your input, thanks again!

      Off the top of my head...my favorite thing would be the overall functionality of it with seating and space.

      @PrimeAutotainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tesseract Comics this trim (SEL) only had rear door mounted heater ducts, but no A/C. I looked at the specs and don’t see any Rear A/C vents listed, sadly.
      For power, I’m sure it would affect it, but not sure it would be tooo bad. I think it was 90s when I had this vehicle and A/C worked well without having to be blasting...but I know it gets a lot hotter than that so hard to say.
