Agreed . I mean method it definitely can work , but it’s more to teach u a lesson that will die out a few months later unless the parents step up . But it’s more of a bandaid then anything

My cousin did that scared straight. Idk what happened to him in their but he got so scared he hasn't had another charge or parking ticket but he has ptsd real bad and night terrors at night. I think it depends on the person I didnt get my shit 2gether til I had a child

Maybe they could offer certificates for therapy for participants. There’s enough profit at this point. Give them a year of therapy.

Here’s what I think, the original Scared Straight definitely worked. They were doing serious crimes and turned their lives around. He didn’t mention that some of the youth in the original documentary said they went right back to crime afterwards for months or even years before they turned their lives around. I feel like maybe this working back then was just that generation and their ways of thinking. The kids in the recent series are usually not even doing super terrible things. They might not think what they’re doing is going to land them in jail with those prisoners. That generation also probably sees it as a challenge to keep doing what they were doing. They definitely need to find a different way for these kids.

Some of those kids need to be send to Therapy or Anger Management Class.

The reason why it never worked cause most of the kids KNEW they really couldn't hurt them so it didnt stick

Lol of course this doesn’t rehabilitate most kids. The smart ones know nothing will actually happen to them on this “jail tour”. And the ones that do break down crying will most likely be back to the behavior that got them in that program in the first olace because there’s no consistency with this. Most of these kids need a therapist some cops and inmates yelling at them.

That and some children are just to far gone. Honestly a child that NEEDS therapy to not be a criminal is to far gone

Sorry but I don't feel sorry for these kids. Any type of punishment will work for some and not work for others. Keep the program and add some therapy. But even either way some people can't be deterred.

This doesn’t work for anyone, they may have been traumatized enough to stop them from doing something bad but you have in turn made their mental health/state worse which is almost all the time the root of the problem. Instead of taking these KIDS to therapy and finding out why their doing these things they are sending them to heavily morally wrong problems where they have literally grown ass adults sexualize, assault, and verbally abuse CHILDREN. Everything they did in this show violates way too many laws for it to be legal but it doesn’t because they don’t care about helping KIDS they only care about making money. You cannot justify something if it is still hurting others, you don’t justify a wrong with a right. I hope you understand that threatening KIDS will NEVER be the right way to “straighten” them out.

It’s crazy in this world how just trying to raise kids can become controversial
