RIP Garth Hudson. Until yesterday I believe he was the last survivor of all those on the stage here. He (they) might be gone, but their music will last forever.
Some guys would say Butterfield's good for a white dude... Shuddup !!! He's F'in PHENOMENAL ! ! 'Good for a white guy '. would be Siegal / Schwall Remember them ? John Popper doesn't make the list
Robbie was just a master, in such a chill way. Just listen to the track were Clapton loses his strap, and try to pick out the moment were Robbie steps in to keep things rolling, without looking at the video. It's hard to even hear the break in the music unless you're watching it happen.
The best version of this great song I’ve ever heard… just amazing! Paul Butterfield’s harmonica playing is phenomenal, so nice to see that broad grin Levon flashes him… like “yeah… I’m really digging this man!”
I've listened to a lot of different music since coming across the band, and one thing that always impresses me when I come back to their stuff is how creative Garth Hudson is. Both his choice of notes + the sounds he conjured from his various keyboards. A tremendous musician. One of a kind. Also, Paul Butterfield was a great harmonica player. The sound he gets from using circular-breathing on "Mannish Boy" at this concert is similar to what Garth is doing here on the clavinet: He's in the background, providing a colorful, ever-evolving texture beneath the other instruments. Ties it all together.
Wish I could’ve seen more of Richard drumming. He played the drums the most unique way. Weren’t the lights shutting off on accident because of a malfunction?
@@justaaccount8738 I always enjoy seeing him play them. It sounded amazing too. On TH-cam here there’s some videos with their concerts form the 80’s and I always love watching his drumming
The short answer is Yes. They lost the power feed to the stage lighting system for a short period of time so it’s only ( Super Trouper) spotlights. I think the Muddy Waters songs were also only with spotlights.
Scorsese and Robertson had planned where the spotlight would go in each song, which is why there are songs, like Stage Fright or Mystery Train, where only one person is in the spotlight.
If only Jim Morrison was alive for this one night to perform Mystery Train, it would’ve been phenomenal. Maybe even to see him perform with the others, that would’ve been nice
Shows you have no idea what a privilege it was for you to see and hear this performance. THIS was EPIC! Paul was one of the most incredible harp players ever. The stunning power behind every note is just literally breathtaking. Professional harp players know the dif. Harp players listen to Paul to learn how to play better. While his stage presence was solid, his poetry chops unmistakable, NOBODY listens to Jim to learn how to play harp better.
@@janbounds911 it is a privilege that we do have this on footage, especially having the people for the event. It just would’ve been nice to hear ole Jimbo sing along to this, since he loved playing this at his concerts till his last one. But yeah, it’s a great concert with fantastic performances and wonderful people.

Saw Paul Butterfield play with former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor in January 1987.
Mr Butterfield man. No one played the harp like this geezer xxxx

Listen to Robbie's unbelievable rhythm guitar all through this song ! Quite magical .

In the midst of Butterfield's blazing harmonica and Levon's great vocal, Robbie's blistering performance throughout is almost overlooked. Almost.
Can't overlook Robbie, his stage presenc and charisma makes it impossible.
Rest in peace garth Hudson.

Must not of heard James Burton on lead guitar.
@@kennethcurtis1856 correct… I didn’t hear or see James on stage that night! 🤣
@@tattyshoesshigure5731No. His gig that night was with the big boys.😂😂😂
@@kennethcurtis1856 that’s true… Elvis had become quite obese by then! 🤣🤣🤣
Levon is amazing. He is "in the zone" with this song!
He is the fire, I had the pleasure to validate that fact!
The Band brings out the best in everyone.
Garth is amazing! That jews harp sound is great!

So many highlights to a great concert.
Wow, just wow! I’ve always wanted to say that! Butterfield just knocked all the fucking pins down in my head. Holy macadamia!
What a tune
AWESOME!
Sonny Boy would be so PROUD
Great bits from old Garth on the organ, and I believe Richard is on the second drum kit.
Richard can be seen at 3:29
Beautiful
Now that was tasty. Thanks for posting.
Spectacular
Damn there was a backing drummer on the last waltz!
Wish I could’ve seen more of Richard drumming. He played the drums the most unique way. Weren’t the lights shutting off on accident because of a malfunction?
In the '74 Wembley concert video you can see Richard clearly and also hear his drums

Where is that BIG DEAL
We want to jump in too
As the song starts, the lights are turning low. Only Butterfield is on the spot light. Is this intentional or accidental? Anyway, I like this moment.

thanks. what a good direction by the two!
@@justaaccount8738 I just saw a thing where Robertson had said it was cause the crew had blown a circuit. But it worked
