  • Some various marbles I have laying around... a look at what marbles are collectible and what are not... certainly not all inclusive... and I am no expert! Look for Christiansen Flames, Akro Cork Screws, American Catseyes, Chinas, Beningtons, Bumble Bees, etc.
I forgot to mention Sulfides... they are large all clear marbles with a figure in the middle. Typically an animal. If they aren't re-pops they are worth a bunch!

Great video. Very informative. Now I can go back through my collection & identify many of them thanks to you. Didn’t realize that many of these were so old or valuable.

This was informative, thanks, learning a few distinctions on cats eye marbles. But the marbles you identified as “Benningtons” are simple unglazed clay marbles which are not worth much, you see them a lot in antique malls. Bennington marbles are glazed, so they are shiny, come mainly in blue and brown (blue ones look like little blueberries). Large Bennington shooters can be 1 1/2” to 2” even, and those shooters are worth $10. to $20. each or more. “Fancy Benningtons come in greens and multi-colors and pinkish ones especially rare and worth $50 plus depending on size.
But thanks, I enjoyed your video!

I enjoyed your video! I pick up marbles here and there just because they look "cool", but you provided information in an uncomplicated way that made me (a total novice) take a closer look at the ones I have. Thank you!

You do have a lot of marbles! Wow! Looking around at some of the marble videos to see if I might have anything of value. I have my dad and his brother's marbles, as well as my worthless 1960's ones. No mention I've noticed on metal ones...my dad says that the metal ones were the most coveted by the boys when they played their serious marble games.

thank you. I am a grandmother of three boys ages; four, four, and six. With that said, I pulled out of my attic all of my marbles that I had since a kid that I collected in the fifties as well as the ones that my grandfather and great-grandfather gave to me. Wow. Now I know what I have. Especially the LUtz, the Peltier, onion skins, etc. Who would have known that my some 3,000 marbles I have actually have more value than taking up attic space. ANd, all because, I wanted to teach my grandsons how to play marbles. NOw, the three of them are hooked on playing and want to start collecting.

Thanks for the information. I bought a bag of marbles from a charity second hand store, most of them sort of look like the one you showed, that was suppose to look like a banana inside, but these ones look more like a glob of one color inside, and I'm trying to find out where they are from? They all are very clear with glob of color inside, some do look like a banana, or a thick slice a melon.

When I was about 8 to 10 yo I lived in alb. N.M. The new neighborhood I lived in had about 20 boys about the same age. We used to always play base, and shoot marbles together. When We first moved there there every boy had serval hundred marbles. I had maybe 200. Before long I had all the marbles even the ones the other boys bought. It got where they wouldn't play marbles with me. I solved that by giving them marbles back. Thats the only way they played with me. Later moving to Phx. I won the school marble tournament when In the 6th grade. I always stored the marbles in coffee cans and my dad complained about them being in the house. When we left Alb. to go to Phx. I gave away about 25 coffee cans full plus some cigar boxes full. Got to Phx. with maybe 100 marbles. The trouble was there wasn't much for marble players there. When I won the tournament at the school no one even knew I played marbles. I probably would of been a 99/1 shot if they gambled on that.

You didn't explain how to tell those worthless ones. Like you went on to valuable ones and cited 'multicolor' as valuable--well, those 'cat eye' ones were multicolor.

I have a ton of old marbles including benningtons. bumblebees, and the blue and yellow one I think you called it a christian or something. I had no idea they were worth that kind of money. I guess you have to find a buyer.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

It's way easier to find buyers online than it used to, but it did change the market in some regards, but the good news is both vintage machine and hand made are now valuable.. people would overlook machine made vintage just 30 years ago.

You can send them one at a time to establish trust if you like. Let me know...i love them. Light up a black light and you will find, that the Worthless marbs are not all worthless.
