    Tried to learn the Eggbeater while in the pool a few times but I would just not understand how you did the actual motion. Like my brain could not make my legs move the way it was supposed to look like. That jump exercise finally made me understand, and it feels so natural now.

      @@Aritul yep. I'm now 36 and swimming in Clovelly beach in Sydney even during winter. I can stay in water for 20 minutes, float easily and tread it comfortably.

    Hey coach, does this normally tire out hips even in water or no?

    • @ShaquaticsNet
      @ShaquaticsNet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My hips get more tired when I'm demonstrating on land than when I'm in the water. So I would say it doesn't tire the hips out in the water.

    Does it matter if the right leg goes counterclockwise or clockwise as long as the two legs moves in opposite directions? I have mostly only seen the right leg move counterclockwise. Thanks

    • @ShaquaticsNet
      @ShaquaticsNet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't like to focus on clockwise or counterclockwise because it ignores the up and down piston-like action of the kick that generates all of the power. Circling your feet doesn't generate power and can cause knee issues. If you go back to our first Eggbeater Video (part one) we talk about the Breastroke kick and how the eggbeater is an alternating breastroke kick. If you work on your breastroke, then one leg at a time breastroke, your leg will be on the right path.

      Shaquatics Water Polo I will do that. Thank you for your reply.

      4 years in the swim team and 10 more swimming and the eggbeater never made sense, until I read " alternating breastroke kick" in your post. Why did none of my coaches or teammates tell me this and they just go like "oh spin your calves like so and it'll work!" I've been living in a lie for a decade and a half lol

    For curiosity, how much does breath control come into it for treading and water polo? Do people try to keep their lungs half full so they don't have to spend as much energy treading or does the exertion force people into breathing harder anyway?

    • @ShaquaticsNet
      @ShaquaticsNet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's very similar to any physical activity like running or playing basketball, the harder you do it the more your heart rate will go up and the faster you will breathe. I never kept my lungs half full. Hope that helps, thanks or watching!

    If you already know how to do eggbeater kick, it will be easy if you practice treading in water?

    • @ShaquaticsNet
      @ShaquaticsNet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's very beneficial for beginners to work on their treading outside of the water in addition to working on it in the water.

    • @franzcortes4090
