Yes, Ian I have nothing but tears of joy here. You have just shown brands that 99percent of the planet will never see unless they attend a HiFi show. You have all of this in one mall and you can see it all in one day. It looks like that is an eight to ten hour day if you spend time in all of the stores or did you do this over days. I know you condensed it down, but wow. In the states we have, no state and that includes California, New York, Texas or Chicago that has anything like this, it’s incredible. You are a humanitarian for doing this for the rest of us and you are doing a contest as well, just wow. You give hours and days of your time reviewing turntables and cartridges to point people in the right direction for the money. You are a simple but humble man and we applaud your efforts and just what you mean to the Vinyl community and Audiophiles as a whole. There is no one else doing what you are doing on TH-cam and you take a hobby that many don’t understand and make it understandable. The personal sacrifice that you and your wife are making to bring this to us and the financial sacrifice is extraordinary. Let your wife and your kids know that we appreciate you and them for doing this and you are truly a humanitarian to us in the Audiophile World!!!
Dear Buddy :-D...yet again you devoted your time sharing your experiences to me constantly and your kindest concern....Brother, thank you for your extremely kind words and support, and your friendship and care. Yes, i did this video over six visits in fact, over two weekdays and four weekends, some i had to do re-shoots, some because the shops are just too crowded and I didn't want to intrude... what I intended to do, my plans made before i reached Adelphi, usually went out of the window :-D when I reached there! So many variables and things that happen that forces me to go for a re-visit. For example, I waited time and time again for Victor's customers to clear from this ProAc store (having private closed-door listenings), but one after another came, and Victor kept saying sorry to me, and I had revisit again and again.. this happens for other stores too. The time I took revisiting and revisiting took a toll on me and my wife, and we had to end our shoots there very often despite spending 2-3hours in the mall. And we got to go, to get back to Moko our baby girl :-D and to bring the two boys out for dinner. Brother, i hope for you and your family a lovely cool Sunday too!! And I still remember your suggestion for me to do the Mk5 vs Gr vs G shoot-out :-D... and hehheh, did you manage to get your Audio Alchemy PPA-1 at $1795-->$799? Heehee!!!!!!! A few months back, you also helped push me over the edge and buy a Schiit Mani which has now replaced Vincent, Rega and Creek phono preamps in my system as well as the phono stage of my KW-500. God yes, whatever happened to the good old Court road? lol. Now all we have is the odd independent shop scattered around the country. Used to have the HiFI Exchange in Peterborough 3 shops at one time, till KJ west 1 took charge and filed the second hand shop with their London priced gear from Krell, Macintosh, Martin Logan, ect.

Adelphi Mall would be my Disneyland! I'm going to keep clicking my heels as many times as necessary to have a mall like this here in the States with such a plethora of stores and choices. Most retailers are really kind!! :-D for example, Victor of AuralDesigns at Level3, allowed me TWO TIMES, to bring his ProAc Tab10s and DB1s to the David's AudioNote store to match up with his AudioNote Oto and Leben CS300Xs amps for auditioning! And, David allows his Leben to be brought down to Level1 Audio88 to be tested with the DeVore OrangUtans 0/93 and 0/96 too :-D!!!! Auditioning is fun here!!! Hi Ian, I bought an LFD LE Signature integrated amplifier to give the Harbeth's one last try. It improved my system overall and both match up very well together. This is the best integrated amp I've owned so far. I'll keep this combination a while longer. However, I have to say those AN-K's in this video here (6:35 mark) in gloss finish look very tempting. :)

My friend in Britain (with a Leben) was considering the ProAcs a few months ago, but because the nearest ProAc dealer for him was very far away, so i helped him. I went to Victor at level3. Victor of ProAc allowed me on TWO separate TIMES to bring his ProAc Tablette 10s and DB1s over to David's store to be linked up with David's Leben CS300XS and AudioNote Oto integrateds :-D!! And David in turn, ever allowed me to bring HIS Leben down to Level1 Audio88 store to be paired with the DeVore OrangUtans O/93 and O/96 for auditioning as well! The goodwill and rivalry is amazing in this mall! Most of the retailers are very kind and obliging. Steven at Level2 with his PMCs and Oyaides is another top guy. Sammy at Level4 lent me home his Avid Pulsare2 phonostage 4 years ago when we were still pretty much strangers and the trust is high. Most retailers are top notch in their service too and very obliging :-D You are right again in your assessment Brother :-D : "Store presentation and service can become a large factor for shoppers." Audio88's boss ever told me, "...i cannot claim to have the best products in the market, but i aim to give the best service in the whole mall...i will always do my best to achieve this..." We just paid our respects at a funeral wake yesterday night, for a fellow friend who passed away at 43 yrs of age leaving behind his wife and two boys. Brother I have EXACTLY THE SAME SYSTEM as yours!!!! The Pioneer PDS703!!! The Audiolab 8000 and the KEF Coda 7s!!!!!! Mid 90s!!!! Hi five hi five hi five✌😄✌😄✌✌✌✌✌✌✌ 😄🤜🤛😄 Thank you Buddy Graham for reminding me it was the 703....I had forgotten the model number!!! It is a front loading, with an inverted CD placement tray (I think...correct me if I am wrong😅)... thank YOU!!!!!
Yes that's the one Ian. They had a sort of mini turntable design, you loaded the CD upside down. The idea being it was more stable and the Lazer read from above. These also used Pioneer's own Legato Link Converter. They were known to be very detailed sounding. They were very well built...I loved mine. I eventually replaced the Audiolab 8000A with a Arcam Alpha 8R. A cheaper, not so well built amp...but it did warm the sound up more. Keep up the great work.

I got the 8000s after that and NAD804 😁!!... lasted me many, many years and gave me so much joy!!!!... I only passed on the 8000s and NAD804 to a vintage shop (for free) 2 years ago! He appreciates it and I thank him for taking them in🤗coz with the amount of equipment accumulating due to my purchases for review purposes...I need to clear lots of space. Still miss them though. Hi Buddy!!!! I traced back and i read: "....for Mundorf EVO Silver/Oil, Audio Note Copper, JFX Series , Nichicon KZ and Elna Silmic II's. Then the signal cabling. Followed by cartridge cabling from copper to pure silver. Finally buying the MP150. .." :-D Just to refresh my memory!!! Everything's done in now!?! Your soldering skills must be top NOTCH!!!!!!! :-D Hahaha!!! May the Audio Force be with you my friend!!! So how is your unrecognisable NAD now??? Smoking hot!!
@@HiViNywschannel - Still got a lot of work to do (Audio caps do cost :-)). But at present working on using hi end caps in the preamp stage. The amp stage is almost complete. Have to make board to be bolted onto the heatsink in order to house the V-Cap CuTF (www.v-cap.com/audiotechnique-v-cap-review.php) caps and Audio Note silver foil capacitors (www.audionote.co.uk/comp/cap_paper.shtml).. You can imagine that Audio defined Polypropylene caps used as bypass capacitors are pretty big (The bypass caps used to remove noise). So will use a board to lay Replacement Electrolytic caps in parallel with the Polypropylene caps on, and then connected to the preamp board. The negative thing is now poorly recorded LP's DO SHOW UP FLAWS! And you find that the original components helped to hide such flaws. Well recorded LP's are amazing.At mo the NAD sound is beautiful!! noise floor has noticeably dropped.The bass is something else! Treble is sharp. My AIWA speakers are stressed. They can't fully handle the more weightier bass. Mundorf Caps I've installed take time to open up. But when they opened up after some weeks, it was an O..M..G. moment! When I increase the volume, its unbelievable that amp is only 30 watts per channel.. I looked at the old NAD and cannot believe what its reproducing. The power stage will be rebuilt. I'm testing out some Duelund Hook-up Wire which has gr8 raves on its use as an interconnect / speaker wires (positive-feedback.com/audio-discourse/duelund-coherent-audio-dca-series-cables-part-1/). But I'm looking for one to be used as low level signals inside the amp. Overall the sound is more defined.
@@manFromPeterborough Wima's have to wait until covid clear.? I agree about E caps. The plus side is most of them 'could' be replaced with superior polypropalene caps, but their price/size limits especialy in solid state gear. The biggest ones I use so far are 0.15uF Mundorf Silver/Gold in the amp stage..
Yes, I got my ATC scm 10 nearly 2 decades ago from here, indeed it's one of my favorite place. Btw my ATC enhanced with Davis Kevlar cone tweeeter and Jensen capacitor, I am still enjoying...

Nice choices you got there! Been to a show in Krefeld Germany and Dr Feikert had a nice turntable (amongst others) as was the L'Art du Son at €80.000 slightly out of my budget I must admit. Heard it play and omg yes it sounded great. Keep spinning those discs my friend.

Yes, it was indeed a MUST visit mall for any audiophiles and vinyl lovers. I have personally visited The Adelphi when I visited Singapore from 25th May to 27th May this year. In between the 3 days, I took 2 trips there. Planning for a return trip but this time, if possible, I am driving from Penang to Singapore! Cheers Ian! And thank you for this great video.

I can confirm that pne is in hifi nirvana once you inside the Adelphi Mall. There is no place like it on this earth. I have been there a number of times since the late 1990's. Your jaw will just drop when you see the multitude of equipment and accessories from all corners of the globe on display. My favourite haunt is Roxy Disc House where one can find the latest audiophile recordings. Richard, its proprietor, gives great recommendations too. Hifi loving Singaporeans are so blessed to have the Adelphi Mall. The rest of us are all so jealous.

Hello Ian. Wow. What a mall!! I have died and gone to Hi-Fi heaven! Amazing place. I wish I could be there to see that. However I am enjoying my SL1200 Mkii with the MP-200 cart. The cart has broken in and sounds great. It seems to work well with the Yamaha AX900U amplifier. Next up, I am getting a pair of Martin Logan Motion 60 XT speakers come January. So cool! Found this mall when I first came over for the Grand Prix, as was between my hotel and the racetrack. A real find! Now when I come, I always make a point of coming here (and the MINT toy museum!). Not sure if I just missed it before, but on my last visit found a few second hand record shops downstairs too.

Dear Buddy :-D I usually buy one or two record tote bags (usually two in the end :-D)....to hand carry them back on flight home. If you have more, my friends always execute it this way: bring some vinyl record boxes (kindly asked and gotten from local record stores) along, flat-pack it in the luggage TO Tokyo, and maybe bring a few pieces of T-shirts you are more willing to throw away. Unfold the box there in Tokyo, slot in the records you have bought, stuff the front and back with some clothes to act as physical buffers. Tap up well. You can check it in on the flight back. If overall weight of your luggages and records have exceeded the allowable weight, then throw away some of these less wanted T-shirts and leave them behind in Tokyo. This place is fantastic. It could take months to explore properly. In the UK you would have to travel all over the country to listen to half the brands in those shops. Amazing you have them all on your doorstep!

Yes, Ian I have nothing but tears of joy here. You have just shown brands that 99percent of the planet will never see unless they attend a HiFi show. You have all of this in one mall and you can see it all in one day. It looks like that is an eight to ten hour day if you spend time in all of the stores or did you do this over days. I know you condensed it down, but wow. In the states we have, no state and that includes California, New York, Texas or Chicago that has anything like this, it’s incredible. You are a humanitarian for doing this for the rest of us and you are doing a contest as well, just wow. You give hours and days of your time reviewing turntables and cartridges to point people in the right direction for the money.
You are a simple but humble man and we applaud your efforts and just what you mean to the Vinyl community and Audiophiles as a whole. There is no one else doing what you are doing on TH-cam and you take a hobby that many don’t understand and make it understandable. The personal sacrifice that you and your wife are making to bring this to us and the financial sacrifice is extraordinary. Let your wife and your kids know that we appreciate you and them for doing this and you are truly a humanitarian to us in the Audiophile World!!!

Yes, i did this video over six visits in fact, over two weekdays and four weekends, some i had to do re-shoots, some because the shops are just too crowded and I didn't want to intrude... what I intended to do, my plans made before i reached Adelphi, usually went out of the window :-D when I reached there! So many variables and things that happen that forces me to go for a re-visit. For example, I waited time and time again for Victor's customers to clear from this ProAc store (having private closed-door listenings), but one after another came, and Victor kept saying sorry to me, and I had revisit again and again.. this happens for other stores too. The time I took revisiting and revisiting took a toll on me and my wife, and we had to end our shoots there very often despite spending 2-3hours in the mall. And we got to go, to get back to Moko our baby girl :-D and to bring the two boys out for dinner.

God yes, whatever happened to the good old Court road? lol. Now all we have is the odd independent shop scattered around the country. Used to have the HiFI Exchange in Peterborough 3 shops at one time, till KJ west 1 took charge and filed the second hand shop with their London priced gear from Krell, Macintosh, Martin Logan, ect.
I just love this man..Thank you for all you do for people, who love the hifi and high end world..

Adelphi Mall would be my Disneyland! I'm going to keep clicking my heels as many times as necessary to have a mall like this here in the States with such a plethora of stores and choices. I'd travel to any major city here and spend days on end sampling, discussing and , yes buying equipment . You've made a countless number of us both envious and jealous (but in a good way)! Hi Ian, I bought an LFD LE Signature integrated amplifier to give the Harbeth's one last try. It improved my system overall and both match up very well together. This is the best integrated amp I've owned so far. I'll keep this combination a while longer. However, I have to say those AN-K's in this video here (6:35 mark) in gloss finish look very tempting. :)

My friend in Britain (with a Leben) was considering the ProAcs a few months ago, but because the nearest ProAc dealer for him was very far away, so i helped him. I went to Victor at level3. Victor of ProAc allowed me on TWO separate TIMES to bring his ProAc Tablette 10s and DB1s over to David's store to be linked up with David's Leben CS300XS and AudioNote Oto integrateds :-D!!
And David in turn, ever allowed me to bring HIS Leben down to Level1 Audio88 store to be paired with the DeVore OrangUtans O/93 and O/96 for auditioning as well!
The goodwill and rivalry is amazing in this mall! Most of the retailers are very kind and obliging. Steven at Level2 with his PMCs and Oyaides is another top guy.
Sammy at Level4 lent me home his Avid Pulsare2 phonostage 4 years ago when we were still pretty much strangers and the trust is high.

I had some KEF Coda 7's in the mid 90's paired up with a Pioneer PDS 703 CD player and a Audiolab 800A.....brilliant sound.

Thank you Buddy Graham for reminding me it was the 703....I had forgotten the model number!!! It is a front loading, with an inverted CD placement tray (I think...correct me if I am wrong😅)... thank YOU!!!!!
Yes that's the one Ian. They had a sort of mini turntable design, you loaded the CD upside down. The idea being it was more stable and the Lazer read from above. These also used Pioneer's own Legato Link Converter. They were known to be very detailed sounding.
They were very well built...I loved mine.
I eventually replaced the Audiolab 8000A with a Arcam Alpha 8R.
A cheaper, not so well built amp...but it did warm the sound up more.

I got the 8000s after that and NAD804 😁!!... lasted me many, many years and gave me so much joy!!!!... I only passed on the 8000s and NAD804 to a vintage shop (for free) 2 years ago! He appreciates it and I thank him for taking them in🤗coz with the amount of equipment accumulating due to my purchases for review purposes...I need to clear lots of space. Still miss them though. @@HiViNywschannel - Still got a lot of work to do (Audio caps do cost :-)). But at present working on using hi end caps in the preamp stage. The amp stage is almost complete. Have to make board to be bolted onto the heatsink in order to house the V-Cap CuTF (www.v-cap.com/audiotechnique-v-cap-review.php) caps and Audio Note silver foil capacitors (www.audionote.co.uk/comp/cap_paper.shtml)..
You can imagine that Audio defined Polypropylene caps used as bypass capacitors are pretty big (The bypass caps used to remove noise). So will use a board to lay Replacement Electrolytic caps in parallel with the Polypropylene caps on, and then connected to the preamp board. The negative thing is now poorly recorded LP's DO SHOW UP FLAWS! And you find that the original components helped to hide such flaws. Well recorded LP's are amazing.At mo the NAD sound is beautiful!! noise floor has noticeably dropped.The bass is something else! Treble is sharp. My AIWA speakers are stressed. They can't fully handle the more weightier bass.
Mundorf Caps I've installed take time to open up. But when they opened up after some weeks, it was an O..M..G. moment! When I increase the volume, its unbelievable that amp is only 30 watts per channel..
I looked at the old NAD and cannot believe what its reproducing. The power stage will be rebuilt. I'm testing out some Duelund Hook-up Wire which has gr8 raves on its use as an interconnect / speaker wires (positive-feedback.com/audio-discourse/duelund-coherent-audio-dca-series-cables-part-1/). But I'm looking for one to be used as low level signals inside the amp.
Overall the sound is more defined.

The plus side is most of them 'could' be replaced with superior polypropalene caps, but their price/size limits especialy in solid state gear. The biggest ones I use so far are 0.15uF Mundorf Silver/Gold in the amp stage..
Yes, I got my ATC scm 10 nearly 2 decades ago from here, indeed it's one of my favorite place. Btw my ATC enhanced with Davis Kevlar cone tweeeter and Jensen capacitor, I am still enjoying...

Been to a show in Krefeld Germany and Dr Feikert had a nice turntable (amongst others) as was the L'Art du Son at €80.000 slightly out of my budget I must admit. Heard it play and omg yes it sounded great.

I had to take a break halfway through the video because it was too much for my brain to absorb. I think I would need a few days in there - I want to test it all!!! Some of those brands I never heard of but the gear is so beautiful. You are very lucky to have such a unique experience where you live - it's unlike any audio shopping experience I know of. Yes, it was indeed a MUST visit mall for any audiophiles and vinyl lovers. I have personally visited The Adelphi when I visited Singapore from 25th May to 27th May this year. In between the 3 days, I took 2 trips there. Planning for a return trip but this time, if possible, I am driving from Penang to Singapore! Cheers Ian! And thank you for this great video.

I can confirm that pne is in hifi nirvana once you inside the Adelphi Mall. There is no place like it on this earth. I have been there a number of times since the late 1990's. Your jaw will just drop when you see the multitude of equipment and accessories from all corners of the globe on display. My favourite haunt is Roxy Disc House where one can find the latest audiophile recordings. Richard, its proprietor, gives great recommendations too. Hifi loving Singaporeans are so blessed to have the Adelphi Mall. The rest of us are all so jealous.

Hello Ian. Wow. What a mall!! I have died and gone to Hi-Fi heaven! Amazing place. I wish I could be there to see that. However I am enjoying my SL1200 Mkii with the MP-200 cart. The cart has broken in and sounds great. It seems to work well with the Yamaha AX900U amplifier. Next up, I am getting a pair of Martin Logan Motion 60 XT speakers come January. So cool! Found this mall when I first came over for the Grand Prix, as was between my hotel and the racetrack. A real find! Now when I come, I always make a point of coming here (and the MINT toy museum!). Not sure if I just missed it before, but on my last visit found a few second hand record shops downstairs too.

Hello !!!! I am going to tokyo Ion a couple of weeks and was planning to go record shopping.... was just curious as to how you brought your records back.... carry on or check in???
Dear Buddy :-D I usually buy one or two record tote bags (usually two in the end :-D)....to hand carry them back on flight home. If you have more, my friends always execute it this way: bring some vinyl record boxes (kindly asked and gotten from local record stores) along, flat-pack it in the luggage TO Tokyo, and maybe bring a few pieces of T-shirts you are more willing to throw away. Unfold the box there in Tokyo, slot in the records you have bought, stuff the front and back with some clothes to act as physical buffers. Tap up well. You can check it in on the flight back. If overall weight of your luggages and records have exceeded the allowable weight, then throw away some of these less wanted T-shirts and leave them behind in Tokyo.

But Ian has stated that equipment prices are lower in Japan than Singapore. But, of course, if you buy equipment in Japan, it is 100 volts, and you'll need a voltage transformer
This place is fantastic. It could take months to explore properly. In the UK you would have to travel all over the country to listen to half the brands in those shops. Amazing you have them all on your doorstep!
