Its been almost 4 yrs now that je hasnt done any videos. Maybe he already done with vlogging about turntables and cartridges. Maybe he finally realized that digital audio is better than analog audio.

The 4425 speakers were added almost 2 yrs ago. Purchased from e-bay seller who had fully restored them. Cross over caps will be replaced this summer with recommended caps from the Norwegian's who designed the cross over network. These speakers brought system to next level.

Hi Ian. I haven't seen any new videos in a while. I hope you and your family are well. One of the activities that is helping me though this COVID madness is music. Take care my friend. Alan
Dearest Alan, thank you for coming to see me. I'm okay, but working longer hours in the clinic in view of the current situation to help out the country in the national efforts🌱 let's hope the whole world get out of this situation soon. May you and your family be Well and Happy, Safe and Healthy too🍀💚🏡🍀🍀🍀🎶🎶🎶 Edit: I worked past two days on Saturday and Sunday, today is my off day. I'm listening to my vinyl records now as jm writing to you Buddy!🏡🎶
@@HiViNywschannel Hi Ian. Glad to hear that you and your family are well. It must be challenging, but rewarding work. My family is well. Both my wife and I are civil servants so we are working from home. Take care my friend, while we have a ways to go this won't last forever.
@@Kbaum752 Dear Brother Alan, I see! Good that you guys have stable jobs, and income is much more safeguarded than others👍✌👌!!! 😄good good!!!!!! My regards to your wife as well. We march on, we will win eventually, and hopefully soon.
My gosh, what a fantastic video Ian. I am so glad you included the travel and the food - completely different than what I am used to. Also, what a fantastic shop and loved hearing you explain the interaction with the salesman. I am not in either camp: modern vs. vintage - both have great points... I think the tables were fairly priced, the amps seemed high but if they were restored fully, then they were right on the mark. What a great shop.
Thank you for your kind comments again Chris!!! :-D Yes agreed!...at first I also felt the amps were slightly on the high side...but later I learnt that these guys are a genuine bunch who they fully check and restore their amps...turntables, etc...cleaning the insides, checking the circuits and components, changing resistors, capacitors etc exactly to their original state... very passionate and truthful bunch of people they are... aside from subtracting off the 8% taxes for foreigners, they may even give further discounts if the customer came personally... thereby obliviating the transport and delivery cost for them :-D ... but generally people buy there for peace of mind, good prices and quality, responsible service. Hahaha... really nice bunch of people there! I am working on the rest of the videos now...keep you guys updated. And hope to keep the vinyl fever burning...and allow the community to remain engaged always :-D Sincerely, Ian. Thank you again my friend for your encouragement!
Thomas De Doncker Oh yes indeed😂😄😄!!! Wifey loves them...and i have been influenced too!! Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Thank you for coming by and catching up! Warmest Regards🤗!
You have been waiting for such a long time to go there, then you get the chance to take a long journey to go to this fantastic HiFi store. But then after all this you leave with nothing, so sad. Thank you for sharing this video, I really like all this old HiFi from the 60,70,80,s.
Dear Brother... :-D wow thank you for your kind concern and friendship!!... eventually I did return a few days later to buy the SL1200Mk5 from Hirokawa-san :-D....it was fun! I documented it with another video where I picked up the Mk5. You can catch it!

My wife would do just about anything for me but after about 15 minutes of hifi she begins to stagger and her speech begins to slur. Gold medal to the woman on your arm. Thanks for the tour. I'm pleased I found this video and channel as I very much enjoy this hobby myself, though I'm sure my equipment and collection is more modest than some - computer hardware is more my specialty. Your enthusiasm is contagious and I look forward to seeing more of your videos and hi-fi related adventures.

As a lifelong audiophile, jazz / classical musician and vinyl enthusiast here in the Western USA, your videos are very cool. Keep it up! I love seeing all the great high-end audio shops in Japan and Singapore. Have visited both Kyoto and Tokyo myself many times.
+Alan Isaacson Dear Alan, thank you very much for your support and encouragement too! Your kind words touch me. Wife and I say thanks to you! ...amazing... you're a jazz and classical musician!!! And an audiophile...you are a vinyl enthusiast! I am very privileged and honoured to know you! Your choice of equipment, vinyl choices will be very telling on fellow audiophiles who are not musicians like most of us :-D I guess you must be a community leader helping other fellow friends as well! Let us chat again my fellow vinylphile brother! Thank you again for your time and kindness. Sincerely, Ian :-)
+HiViNyws channel Hi Ian, thanks for your warm message which I really appreciate. Yes, lets continue to chat from time to time. Most of my system is old school, Magnepan, McIntosh, Sony, Monolithic Sound, Kimber, Audioquest, Shakti, VansEvers, etc. A suggestion for a future review is the U-Turn Pluto MM Phono Preamp. store.uturnaudio.com/products/pluto-phono-preamp. For under $100USD i found it to be quite musical sounding, very quiet and truly authentic to the music. My current turntable is a recent purchase, the Pioneer PLX-1000 DD turntable. www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/Turntable/PLX-1000 Though widely touted as a DJ deck here in the states it also performs quite admirably for home use. I use an Ortofon Concorde cartridge body with a variety of different styli both conical and elliptical. (Really old school however - I love those round spherical styli!) Would live to get the new Technics SL-1200GAE once it's released last this year - arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/01/the-legendary-technics-sl-1200-turntable-is-back-and-better-than-ever/ however I'm afraid the cost will unfortunately be prohibitive. (~$4000 USD!) I love the older Japanese turntables mainly Yamaha, Denon and Luxman. Take good care and keep up the great work my new vinylphile brother! Sincerely, Alan
+Alan Isaacson Thank you Alan for your time!!! :-D I am really honoured to hear from you. Thank YOU!!! Hahaha.. the Technics SL-1200GAE... yes i am still scratching my head over it... it is USD4000!!! Ah!.... Thank you for letting me know about your PLX-1000 and U-Turn Pluto! How long have you had each of them? :-D A good Sunday ahead! Sincerely, Ian!
Anthony Riviello Dear Anthony, thank you for coming by and your support and kind words!!! I am also glad friends helped me along the way 🤗🤗🤗!!! Let's tread on with zest and confidence in our vinyl playback!!!
Im so glad i found your channel,i admire so much the japanese people, and i wish in my next life i am a japanese my self. Great video my friend,5 stars!
Hi Ian my brother recently past away and his wife asked me what she do with his Hifi ? It consists of Denon receiver Denon CD player and a Goldring Lenco gl 85 turntable with Shure M 55e cartridge and a Goldring G 800 cartridge. All from the 1970s. I wonder if you would think the Goldring Lenco GL 85 Swiss made turntable is any good as there is a big reinsurance of vintage Hifi in the UK ? As usual thank you for your input and Hifi knowledge. Regards to you and your wife. Your friend Dave in the UK.
I discovered you through your TH-cam videos on Vinyl related stuff. The first video through which I discover you I assume was this one - the one in which you travel to Japan with your wife to meet your parent in-laws and buy a Turntable. Recently I even showed a few portion from this particular video to my wife too! From your videos, I have found you as an honest and a very passionate vinyl and audio hobbyist - your excitement comes out like a kid! That's what matters most....our this kind of audio and music passion keeps us young at heart and makes us to come out with such exciting gestures when we can get hold of any audio rig or music of our liking. This is a lovely video and its not a mere vinyl related video. There's lot more life to it, a touch of travelogue with basic focus intact. It's great that your wife too enjoys your this journey - hunting vinyl & audio HiFi related trips! Look forward to your new videos!
Dear Swapan, thank you very much for writing in over here and taking time out to chat with me. I treasure your ferventness and warm forthcoming support and encouragement... it really helps A LOT to keep me going. I am happy to be with all of you friends on these journeys! Yes, thank you: I pulled my wife next to me to read your message. Thank you very much, she says!!!! Hahaha... funny thing, is that, she is now re-watching this video on her laptop as I type on mine! :-D :-D :-D You have been very kind, brother, to us. Best Regards to you and your family, - ian and wife.
Fantastic video.. I really enjoy these videos when you're out on the town shopping.. It's fun to see how other people in other countries are living.. Thank you for taking the time to film everything.. Oh my gosh, did your wife go back and buy the Tannoy speakers?!.. Ha!
+Tom caddick Thank you Tom!!! First: great to see you again!!! :-D Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement!.. We feel elated to hear them from you! Yes i really wanted to share the footage of those down-to-earth moments with all of you too, how people talk, live and eat :-D ! Dear Friend!... My wife is deciding now!... Very tempting, the Tannoy Arden!!.. We have checked their condition (removed the grilles, audition, listen) and find them tonally great (my wife is very sensitive to tonal correctness, she listens to classical in theatres and plays the piano too...maybe that helps a lot) . The Luxman CL-35s are just so gorgeous... I almost picked one up and hugged and kissed it!!! Hahahah... I did buy something (not the Tannoy speakers) on the very last day (18th Jan) I was in Japan for this trip! Great customer service throughout from Mr Hirokawa, and when I touched down Singapore, my wife and I gave him a call to thank him. Thank you my friend, and see you again. This will be the first of a SERIES of 6 videos of hunting for vinyl-related hifi and VINYL RECORDS at 2 biggest Record stores in Japan... I am doing my best to apportionate the footages and clips nicely for all of you.... To keep the Vinyl dream alive and the journey memorable and meaningful. Best Regards to you and your family Tom, Ian.
Absolutely Awesome Stereo shoppe. Wish we had something like this in the bay area, where I live at. Can't get on airplane due to my brain hemorrhages, last 2 brain pops (as I like to call them) took out my left leg, changed my vision from near-sighted to far-sighted and paralyzed my pinky toe on my right foot (weird). I have well over 900 hundred records in my collection. I refer to my record collecting as my cigarettes and mixing audio my Heroin. It has to be a sin.
Please take care my friend, I am sure you do :-D.. wish you the very best in your recovery... I wish you all the joy in listening to music along the way, my friend. Best regards to you Matt :-D!!!
Dear Buddy Rick 🤗 thank you for catching up again and your kind words. I'll work and prepare as much pertinent and useful materials as possible. Have fun in beautiful 🇨🇦!!
HiViNyws channel Thanks for replying! Im watching another one off you're videos on plater speed checks using a smartphone! Is that app reliable in you're opinion? Thanks again mate!
Hi thanks for this great tour! I would like to know what were the bad sides of the Yamaha GT-2000 that you wanted to purchased and you did not at the end. I saw the guy playing with the tonearm as if there was some issue with it with regards to the set-up of the VTA. Is a question of reliability about this model? I am interested to know since just like you I would like to get one in the future. But now I am not so sure after watching your video. Last but not least, keep feeding us with your entertaining and educative videos. All the best to you guys! Best Regards, Frédéric
Ian, I know this video is seven years old, but man we sure miss you and your lovely wife! Do you plan to make new ones? You've been inactive for a couple of years now!😢😢😢
Thanks for the kind words. I've been collecting records for about 30 years, but don't know everything. So I watch your vidz...and VinylEyez - He's good too!
Thanks for the very interesting videos - your wife is very patent and has excellent taste in speakers! The sales man in the first hifi store mentioned to you something about the GT-2000 turntable - I own one and am very interested to know any details such as strengths weaknesses of this fine turntable. could you please expand on what he said?
Naqoyqatsi L.A.W Dear ftiend!... this is it: i went there wanting to buy the GT2000 turntable. I am already prepared to shell out the cash....but this Hirokawa-san is one of the best most senior and straighttalking salesperson who always surprise people by telling people not to buy stuffs. I became one of them. I went away in the end being discouraged by him to get the GT2000 and left the shop empty handed. He is very honest. He said that the weakness of the GT2000 is at the hind end and bottom end of the tonearm where it can break and they have done a lot of repairs for customers...but the replacement parts is out of production and very often non original parts have to be sourced and he said that will change the sound of the original. They are most interested in reparing and selling mint used equipment and restoring them to OROGINALITY before selling to customers.
Oh man, I didn't even know there is a place in Akihabara to buy used turntables! I guess I didn't spot that place when I was there back in late 2014...
It's okay my friend! We all learn from one another! I also learnt about many things from friends and kind acquaintances!!! Very happy to be with all you guys Vinylphiles. Such a warm vinyl world we live in :-D Thank you and see you again my friend! Best Regards, Ian.
Thank you for the update - yes I had heard the tonearm is fragile- however the standard tonearm IMO is excellent and underrated. It is expensive to buy a replacement as you rightly point out the turntable has been out of production for many years. What turntable did you end up buying? (From Australia)
Naqoyqatsi L.A.W Brother. It gives me no pleasure at all to say bad things about friends' equipment. I want to apologise to you yet again. I am sorry. I really wanted to get the GT2000...wholeheartedly went all the way there... my wife with me, but dissuaded by Hirokawa-san who could have just easily wrapped it up for me and gotten the sale, hia commissions. He looked so happy that i walked away heeding his advice instead. He earned my respect totally. After that, i got to learn that he is actually quite famous because of his unerring honesty and only thinking about the welfare of people who trust him, and never to make any sale at all. I returned a few days later to buy the Technics SL1200Mk5...which i have been using till now...and with sterling and reliable performance day in day out, giving me endless hours of daily listening pleasure.😄🖐... I still adore the GT2000 to this date too.
Dig your passion for vinyl. Your system is beyond impressive. Took your advice and purchased a grado green cartridge and the sound is amazing. The sound is warm and clean. One question, I’ve gone through the set up on my jvc l-f41 several times but, still get a single periodic “pop.” It seems like static. I get this on any record including new. Any thoughts?
Dear Brother :-D, thank you for coming by and catching up with me, and your kind words!!! I feel so encouraged by them!!...thank you for letting me know, that my efforts to help, has BEEN correct :-D !!! I love it!!! Thank you Buddy! I read your ownership and usage of a JVC L-F41 turntable... and apologies, I can't put a finger as to why there is always a single periodic "pop" on all records played, old or new. I am really sorry Brother...
Yes I love your videos. You are a very nice and happy audiophile!!I sure would love to travel to Japan and Singapore!! Didn't they have any turntables in Singapore?I know how you feel,I have a absolutely mint Thorens TD 165 and cherish it! Be Blessed! p.s. I love the sound track music too!!

May you and your family be Well and Happy, Safe and Healthy too🍀💚🏡🍀🍀🍀🎶🎶🎶
Edit: I worked past two days on Saturday and Sunday, today is my off day.
Yes agreed!...at first I also felt the amps were slightly on the high side...but later I learnt that these guys are a genuine bunch who they fully check and restore their amps...turntables, etc...cleaning the insides, checking the circuits and components, changing resistors, capacitors etc exactly to their original state... very passionate and truthful bunch of people they are... aside from subtracting off the 8% taxes for foreigners, they may even give further discounts if the customer came personally... thereby obliviating the transport and delivery cost for them :-D ... but generally people buy there for peace of mind, good prices and quality, responsible service. Hahaha... really nice bunch of people there!
I am working on the rest of the videos now...keep you guys updated. And hope to keep the vinyl fever burning...and allow the community to remain engaged always :-D
Sincerely, Ian.
Thank you again my friend for your encouragement!
Wow, just Wow. Those beefy Tannoys are gorgeous.

I'm pleased I found this video and channel as I very much enjoy this hobby myself, though I'm sure my equipment and collection is more modest than some - computer hardware is more my specialty. Your choice of equipment, vinyl choices will be very telling on fellow audiophiles who are not musicians like most of us :-D
I guess you must be a community leader helping other fellow friends as well!
Let us chat again my fellow vinylphile brother! Thank you again for your time and kindness.
Sincerely,
Ian :-)
(Really old school however - I love those round spherical styli!)
Would live to get the new Technics SL-1200GAE once it's released last this year - arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/01/the-legendary-technics-sl-1200-turntable-is-back-and-better-than-ever/ however I'm afraid the cost will unfortunately be prohibitive. (~$4000 USD!)
I love the older Japanese turntables mainly Yamaha, Denon and Luxman.
Take good care and keep up the great work my new vinylphile brother!
Sincerely,
Alan
+Alan Isaacson Thank you Alan for your time!!! :-D I am really honoured to hear from you. Thank YOU!!!
Hahaha.. the Technics SL-1200GAE... yes i am still scratching my head over it... it is USD4000!!! Ah!....
Thank you for letting me know about your PLX-1000 and U-Turn Pluto! How long have you had each of them? :-D
A good Sunday ahead!
Sincerely,
Ian!
Hi Ian, I've had the PLX-1000 and the Pluto for about 1 year now or so. I like them both!
Enjoy your Sunday as well.

Hi Ian my brother recently past away and his wife asked me what she do with his Hifi ?
It consists of Denon receiver Denon CD player and a Goldring Lenco gl 85 turntable
with Shure M 55e cartridge and a Goldring G 800 cartridge. All from the 1970s.
I wonder if you would think the Goldring Lenco GL 85 Swiss made turntable is any good
as there is a big reinsurance of vintage Hifi in the UK ? As usual thank you for your input
and Hifi knowledge.
You have been very kind, brother, to us.
Best Regards to you and your family,
- ian and wife.
Thank you!! :)
Swapan Das 😄✌
wow japan is truly hifi heaven :)
:-D indeed my friend... i can't deny that after what i have seen thus far...
Audio Union is one of the best places in Japan to get used hi-fi gear. Have bought several units from them.
Wow :-D you have bought "several units" from them!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go buddy!!!!
I like your vids. Good afternoon from Germany.
Guten Tag my friend!!! Thank you for coming by and kindy spending time with me catching up👋🤗!
You are amazing man
Fantastic video..
Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement!..
Best Regards to you and your family Tom,
Ian.
Very nice video. Thank you for it. I subscribed.
BioShocking Dear fellow Friend in-Vinyl🤗, thank you very much for your encouragement and i will continue working hard. Thank you!! Warmest Regards👋😄
Japan is very clean.
denbydish Hi brother👋😄... great to see you again!!!
Great channel love it ....Canada

ITS LIKE HEAVEN FOR ME
Thank you Brother for coming by! :-D Have a good week ahead with your vinyl collection and hifi :-D! See you my friend.

Best Regards,
Frédéric

@@agfagaevart Wow!!for 30 years!!! I take my hats off to you💪😄✌
Hello Ian,
Why did you blur out the price of the technics turntable in the start?
Such a warm vinyl world we live in :-D
Thank you and see you again my friend!
4:29 Does anyone know the name of the song? Also great vid HiVi!, much love to you and your family!
I enjoy 👀 that video
about Japanese music lovers such as myself.
Toney Tillery Isaiah.
Thank you for your response. There are any number of variables. I will find the issue and let you know.
Maybe (someday, 2 to 3 years from now when the virus crisis ends), you'll be able to return to the Hifi shops and bring us new videos.
Dear Brother, thank you for your very kind words🤗🤗🤗
Thank you...and may you and your family be well and happy, safe and healthy, always✌🤗🍀💚🏡🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Yes I love your videos. You are a very nice and happy audiophile!!I sure would love to travel to Japan and Singapore!! Didn't they have any turntables in Singapore?I know how you feel,I have a absolutely mint Thorens TD 165 and cherish it! Be Blessed! p.s. I love the sound track music too!!
careystuart Thank you friend... yay enjoy your TD165!!... getting a super mint and affordable SL1200 from Japan feels just so great!! Believe me, surprisingly it smells new too💪😄✌!!! Can't believe these units....can't recommend them enough. See you again brother!.. i wish you the best of a vinyl journey🤗! ~ ian.
