Zidane sat this out? This was the first time I recall seeing Henry and Trezeguet. The rubber was still on throughout the game. Kudos to Monaco for playing positive. Pity that a deflection caused the result. That was a very special night.

zidane hit it with his weaker foot. two the ball was dropping from the sky and zidane was at a stand still him even lifting his leg to smash that at a stand still is more difficult than hoping of the ground to put some power into it. the stage was bigger and the scores were tied at that point. juve had already beaten monaco easily in the first leg ; so even if del piero had missed it wouldnt have mattered much. at this time del piero was juve's best player, i think it was after this year he had that injury. but zidane's was more impressive, and had a higher degree of difficulty. not to mention, del piero's goal was a deflection. zidane's was straight in.
Currently looking through all highlights starting from 1997. And even though Zidane was great, I felt like Del Piero was actually the best player in Juventus in that era. I feel like Zidane was better in Real than in Juve. Not saying Zidane was bad in Juve though.
