These kids don't get the references that the sketches are making fun of, of course it's not as funny to them without seeing the original tv shows/commercials
One of my favorite reoccurring skits from90's SNL was Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer as "The Culps" two nerdy music teachers that cover popular songs at proms and other events.
"I wish I had a kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away." The one where he tells a story about taking his nephew to "Disneyland" is another that had always stood out in my mind too. 😂

if you showed the context of the spartan cheerleaders it would be much funnier the joke is they want to be cheerleaders at that school but they are not allowed so they force their cheers anyway
The best Jack Handy is “If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.” The delivery has a nice pause after the question and you think it's like a normal deep thought, and then it just takes a turn right back into Jack Handy deep thoughts territory.
Evidently your Spartan Cheerleader skit didn't explain who they really are? They are 2 cheerleaders who didn't make the squad and they cheer at non-traditional events such as a swim meet (the one shown) or chess match. It remains one of my favorite skits.
I'm not surprised this channel cut out the punchline of the Michael Jackson joke. It goes, "Michael Jackson heard they had a sale, boys pants are half-off."
I remember watching Schweddy Balls live with my parents. They were not amused, but I was 12, and was trying so hard not to laugh. Finally I broke, and just laughed my ass off for the rest of the sketch.
"My friends and I used to go play with uncle cave man in his cave, and occasionally he would eat one of us. It wasn't until years later that I realized uncle cave man was a bear." - Jack Handy
I was waiting for the Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley dancing one. 🤣 Also, I never realized how many people are gone now.. Phil Hartman, wasn't he killed by his wife or something? 😢
This generation can't stay quiet through the setup of a joke to save their lives... It's "I want everything now!" culture. Just give them some slapstick; a little Three Stooges, and call it a day. Non-existent attention spans... "Oh, let me talk about what I'm seeing right now while they set up the joke. Oh, the audience laughed. HAHA! I don't know why they're laughing, because I talked over the setup and didn't get the punchline as a result, but I should probably laugh too so I don't look lost." Shoot me... 🤦♂
Christopher Walken sketches "More Cowbell", "The Continental" and "Colonel Angus" All the "Sprockets" especially the one with Phil Hartman as Susan, Honorable mentions include, but are not limited to: "Cork Soakers", "Jingleheimer Junction", all of the "Celebratory Jeopardy" with Darrel Hammond as Sean Connery and all of "The Ladie's Man".
Cowbell and Colonel Angus wouldn't be options because they aren't from the 90s. Not sure exactly when The Continental sketches aired, but I would guess a good number of them were post-90s as well. I feel like they didn't start those until his later hosting dates. No Celebrity Jeopardy skits is really the unacceptable absence here. Jingleheimer Junction is a great call for one off skit.
They can't make certain connections because of phone brain. Some of the jokes couldn't make sense if you weren't around at the time though (crystal gravy)
So, the spartan cheerleaders needs more context. They are considered losers by the whole school, and they go around cheering for the most random sports (ones that don't get cheerleaders). They are more of a series character aquired taste 😀 And yes, the Gap was one of the places you'd find those type of employees.
