Hey! I see our garage in that pop's stage pic 👀 (though we sadly don't have it in their anymore). Correct about RH being inspired by TM! Lara and I both geek out hard about our TM. Haha I snagged mine for $800 including delivery a little over a decade ago and actually love the rainbow panels as well as the speakers on the bar. 😂 The best thing about it though is the cab graphics: questionable sentences plastered all over the sides of the cab as well as the marquee, saying things like "Blast your hidden ardor" and "Throw away your honor". 🤣
My local arcade has an ITG2 machine with a bunch of extra songs on it tucked away in a back corner of it, I have spent more money than I care to admit on it
An opinion from a random on what matters when talking dance game cabs: -sturdy and high quality stages that are well modded (any stage with the 4-sensor cavity design can be modded to be s-tier imo) -sturdy and comfortable bars (smx, then pump/itg, then ddr) -display (I prefer crt for no motion blur/ghosting. ITG/betson/red cab cab all have 480p capable CRTs, so toss up for number 1 spot. Number 2 are the SD/480i crts in the gen 1 jcabs.) I love the ITG dedicabs that I’ve played on, and I guess unmodded I’d concede the s-tier spot for it. But the only thing a betson and red cab are missing that set it apart from the ITG dedi are the more narrow bars. For this reason, I’d put them in A-tier. With a set of pump bars on a betson or red cab, I’d be just as happy playing on those as I would be on an itg dedi. With pump bars on an gen1 jcab, you’re only missing out on some lines of resolution on the CRT and you’re at s-tier. Stepmaniax stages are nice and flat and have programmable sensitivity, but they are the tiniest bit more flimsy then legacy ddr stages. I would take any of the standard doubles pads for DDR over smx for this reason. Cab aesthetic matters, but it’s subjective and I think it matters less than my functionality sticking points. I guess the bigger and crazier the better, but I love the gen1 jcabs. Thanks for the video! It was good and entertaining. Dom knows how to makes the edits funny while getting the point across clearly.
I got to play on Beej's DIY cab, it was pretty solid. Got to play it during a RGC conference back in... 2008 I think? I don't know what happened to it tbh, he might still have it? but it might be floating around Edmonton still somwhere.
I bumped into him on Reddit a few months ago. He was asking questions about modern stepmania setups to upgrade it. So i think he still has it! If i made that thing, id never sell it.
@@domitg agreed, and now that you mention it,i might make my own Dedicabs like that, especially nowdays we have arduino and some sensors to sense the pads, though it was Pump It Up Game since i love in the first sight to that game
Surprised you lumped all 3 versions of the itg2 dedi into one when there are clear discrepancies that deserve different tiers. At least from Roxor 1 and beyond. Not to mention that any of the Roxor 1 cabs running R1 can't be upgraded which means no customs loading from usb and having to play on original sync. Roxor 1s also have different panels and feel like stepping on concrete. They also have non-consistent construction so you'll never know what you'll get when you get one. Andamiro > Roxor 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Roxor 1. 6:27 Literally true for all the cabinets tbh. That part on the technomotion bar is in fact a speaker. Also the technomotion pad frame construction is similar to pump gx/itg
In The Groove 2 came so fast I didn't even play ITG1 in Arcade (just the home version for Playstation2). ITG2 supporting using a flash drive so you could track your own best scores was a huge innovation. Konami was jealous they didn't think of it first. ITG2 is S tier for me mostly based on the better pads than any DDR that came before it, more fun song list, 5 charts for most songs, not just the select few boss songs, and the much superior design language. I loved the lack of announcer. I loved the much clearer color coding on the arrows. I loved the arrows feeling solid instead of translucent. My old arcade shut down. It had ITG2 since I was in Jr High (2005--2007ish), and when it shut down, I wanted to put in an offer for the ITG2 machine. But instead of seeing it on the dedicated sale day, some other guy harassed the owner to sell it to him mid-week. Dance Rush is S tier based on fun alone.
ur so right on the dancerush bc it is so fun to play and it doesnt feel like im constantly on a grind to get better. Also in the KAC from what ive heard, winners of dancerush are determined on style and viewer voting, not score or anything and i think thats rlly cool
Very weirded out by you guys mentioning that obscure game with arrows and hand sensors and not Ez2Dancer which is the OG of mixing DDR and Dancemaniax, and it has a very particular pad too.
Someone did a video checking out the chrome Saint Laurent machine and it was really crappy. Bar wiggled, pads were crap, etc. It also was not functional i.e. there's no game inside it
You forgot 'Dance 86.4 Funky Radio Station' and 'Stepping Selection/Stepping Superior' Defenetly major dance games that everyone should know. Defintely not obscure at all.
2 things, 1.-the Saint Laurent cab is just for show, it doesn't have sensors or anything and it's super fragile. 2.- I'd put the DX PIU cab way up because it looks awesome bonus: you could have added EZ2DANCER cab since it's awesome and konami killed it =(
Haha dance rush is definitely the opposite of iidx because dance rush is amazing the first time you play and every time you play! Iidx just has creative ways to kick my ass haha. Yeah dance rush cabs are definitely A or S tier
surprised to not see any comments on the saint laurent ddr cabinet in the comment section so if you and dom still haven't seen the video on it i might as well share th-cam.com/video/7UCPWscYvLw/w-d-xo.html some random info on it from the video -body is basically a mirror -made (or possibly just designed ig?) in france -only loops an ad. not really any function other than to look cool ig -instead of triangle brackets, it just has metal squares that would probably tear through any socks you'd play stamina with on this

About that SMX Mystery machine : it turns out that this is actually a prototype for their DX cabinet, they have just announced.

SMX monitors are touch screens, imagine convert it to a touch-based StepMania interface, that would be rad
Duuude. Re-rave! I'd so buy one if it could dual boot that.
it will be rad aaaaand with dirty fingers all over and you know it xD

@LittleRockElevators It had a lot of remixes and Eurobeat
10:09 - its a speaker in the bar.
Did you have it Nirvash?
I remember Eau Claire in Calgary had Technomotion. Yes, it was indeed a speaker in the bar.
