On the Heli set up. As am new to useing the system as I fish silty lake. How far should the bead be up the leader. I been told all depends how deep the silt is. Is this correct. Thank u love all your videos. Am on 21lb on at moment.
Pretty much sums up my experiences with silty estate lakes. Hydrating my feed has been a big edge over the years, I wouldn't be confident fishing in the muck if thought there was a chance of my baits absorbing the silty smell and becoming masked. The only thing I would add is that hitting the clip or feathering the lead to take the energy is pretty much essential to presentation and if you can only find choddy, leafy silt in front of you (particularly in late autumn/early winter) then a short, balanced pop-up presentation is critical otherwise the hook point is highly likely to get masked. I don't think the loose bait buries as much over that kind of bottom so no need to match the hatch.

But with silt, how do you know how deep it is? Would like to know why you set your bead where you did, thanks.

Great video. Although what if you’re fishing a silty venue and they have leaders banned, so you can’t fish helicopter. How would you approach it with a lead core system?
@@MarkPitchers cheers Mark, never though about the naked setup. You wouldn’t use tubing then? And still fish a critically balanced hookbait but just a longer supple hook length, (any suggested hook links that you would use)
I used pva bags on silt but the carp wised up i fish small pool waters very silty caught the 5 carp then died down now pva does nt seem to work so i fish heli now but thanks the bait tips were great

In this instance I’d prefer to use a lead clip set up on a naked mainline and use a longer supple braided hook link. 😊
