    Okay wow the comments in this video are insane.
    Yes I understand some kids are destroying products and buying products they don’t need.
    I just wanted to share some of the stuff that people my age used when we were 10-14. That’s it.
    Please be kind to others.

    Most of the things you mentioned are aimed at kids/teens though and are a fraction of the price. I’m not hating on the kids they’re just being influenced by the trends after all, but there is something a little bit disturbing about 10-year-olds buying anti-aging creams and serums. It just not meant for them and it’s sad that this is what kids are putting on Christmas and birthday lists now.

      Fr. I love how these kids are getting instilled with a healthy habit to take care of their skin but you can also get a really good routine at Ulta or Target for 50$. These kids are spending hundreds on a few products that they don't really need. Expensive does not mean better. Not to mention, the destroying of samples.

      God loves you and calls you to repentance. Tomorrow is not a promise, and God does not want you to die in sin; but to repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
      That is why Jesus Christ (God made Man) died on the cross. You broke the Law, but Christ paid your fine. He suffered in your place, as your Substitute, and rose again after three days, now seated at the right hand of the Father; He is King over all.
      "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

I feel the girls who kept putting makeup over their “bad” skin rather that trying to fix it then and there made it worse for themselves💔
      I feel washing your face, putting a mask and moisturizer is something everyone should do. Retinols and all that in ur 20s. I don't get this? Why didn't you get to walk into a shop? I don't get the issue of kids in a shop, I think people are mixing up several things into and here, Kids visiting a shop (not a problem), kids buying stuff at Sephora (where does a 10 year old have that kind of money from, that is a problem), kids behaving inappropriate in a shop (very much a problem, where are the parents???).

    • @Kayla_Kimbrell
      @Kayla_Kimbrell 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @MsMoople because we couldn't afford it and it was Victoria secret and I was only 10 yrs old.. a 10 yr old has no business shopping in a lingerie store. Back then they were almost nothing but lingerie and perfumes. Amd at 10 yrs old we didn't get to rum around the mall by ourselves so there was no sneaking off in there real quick. And my mom couldn't afford VS for herself so I had absolutely no business being in a VS at 10 yrs old. Same goes for separate. I had no business at 10 yrs old even being in one because I couldn't afford it nor was I old enough to wear the make up yet. What make up stuff I did have came from drug stores. And BBW was the same thing. It took me and my cousins some years to convince our moms into letting us buy body spray from there because they swore it was too expensive and not for kids. We made it in there quicker than we did any other store. And kids at 10 yrs old can't be trusted in more expensive shops. Not with an adult and specially not alone. They proved that in sephora.

    But there’s a big difference - those products were actually appropriate for kids/teens. Now kids are using skincare with active ingredients that will damage their skin and they’re destroying products in the store. What we did as kids is not comparable to what’s currently happening with this “skincare smoothie” trend.
    Edit to add: There’s nothing wrong with kids buying age-appropriate skincare like moisturizer, and I am by no means saying that ALL kids in Sephora are doing this. I’m simply saying that this trend is concerning and it’s not really comparable to things we collected like Baby Lips and Bath and Body Works. Children are using products like retinol and chemical peels to “prevent aging” when they haven’t even finished growing yet. That should be concerning to everyone.

      I feel they're moreso just going to get a rude awakening when they damage their skin barrier and everything burns from not introducing actives slowly. That said, I doubt they'll permanently damage their skin, I mean, I was using Tretinoin and 15% azelaic acid daily in my teens, and my skin tolerated it just fine. The only issue is that these children probably don't do the research needed to use these actives and will end up starting them daily and overstripping their skin.

    Lipgloss and cleanser can't be compared with 10-step skincare and high-end cosmetics that these Sephora kids are having. It's common sense that at 10, your skin is still tender and not mature enough to handle the chemicals that comes with all these cosmetics. Even adults are not recommended to follow such an intense skincare routine as it can damage their natural skin barrier. This trend needs to stop now.

    Lipgloss isn't comparable to high end skincare. Bad take. The lipliscious were $7-$10 and pink was like $18-20. It wasn't $80+ and the lines were marketed towards teens and college age, maybe even preteens if they felt too cool for Justice and Claires. My mom didn't care if I had tons of lipgloss or body spray if I paid for it myself, and it wasn't about anti-aging. Most kids like that stuff because it smelt good. The way these products are shoved in their faces as well as who’s marketing to them is an issue. If I were to go into a store and completely ruin products, creating messes and being overall rude there would be consequences to my actions. The parents are a part of the problem and so is society at large. Kids can’t be kids anymore. Saying we were like them is ignoring the reality of the times we lived in. Like many have mentioned, middle school aged to teenage girls were the target audience for most of these products. Also, the skincare products (excluding the toner in Proactiv) were mostly for cleansing the skin! Even the Wave was a cleanser with physical exfoliation (not chemical exfoliation like Drunk Elephant and Glow Recipe products). It's the active ingredient skincare at a luxury price point that make a difference between the two groups.
    Another difference is that they aren't being influenced by other teens (i.e. teen TH-camrs that were popular in the early 2010s). Now, their influencers are young adults in their late teens to mid-twenties. It's adults pushing an idea of beauty on actual children that's creating a concern too.

    Lip balms are different than 9 year olds using retinols that are so expensive most adult women wouldn't buy them! It's about the fact that they destroy everthing (testers, unopened stock) and act demanding and entitled. It's def how they were brought up, but yes, we had an interest in beauty at that age, but it's that these gen alpha kids are taking it to the enth degree and it's scary.

    • @karlylo
      @karlylo 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Why should we care if some adult women can't afford something while for others it is cheap? The main problem is them making a mess for the workers. Also, Sephora can make rules and implement them if they think the stores are losing money because of this. They won't because all of the hype and news are making them money. Drunk Elephant for example has such a high markup just because of their marketing, not because their raw materials are better than drugstore brands.

    • @karlylo
      @karlylo 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @1111yam reality is if the parents want to spend on their children, that is their perogative. It is none of our business and we can't do anything about it. The only entity that can solve this issue is the stores. No one under 18 can enter without and accompanying adult or something would be easy to implement. But Sephora won't do that, because they love the sales these kids are making them, and also their marketing team is targeting Gen Alpha since they are the next generation. That's the sad world we live in. 🤷‍♀️

      Part of that is because she's not a millennial, she's older gen Z. Her jr high experience lines up with the trends that came around when I was in hs - B&B lipglosses just straight up weren't a thing until then and even in hs I don't remember ANYONE caring what your skin routine was - the idea that skin care is fashionable is solidly a Gen Z thing. I'm the last of the generation that used toner but not moisturizer 😭

    The difference is a lot of us didn’t trash the places or were left unsupervised or alone, or were rude or bullies, I only got some of these things because family bought it for me, i didn’t even go to these stores till I was older, and if I went because my mom wanted to grab something for herself I knew to respect where I went, and not touch things, and wasn’t left out of sight, see nothing wrong with playing around with a lip smacker that had a scent or using a proper exfoliation tool (though that one was meh) most of the things I see kids getting now are expensive and for adults and I didn’t see or use till I was already out of highschool even and into my twenties.
    From what I remember too I had a friend with proactive for her bad acne but it was prescribed, not sure if that was the standard. Nowadays kids are on social media and influenced a lot to get things for adults that they don’t need or are bad for their skin rather than a good acne treatment.
    When I was a kid it was honest fun I didn’t know about all these things kids know about now and worry about, I was having fun playing dress up and trying to take care of my skin as I dealt with lot of acne and scarring and hyperpigmentation and sensitivity.
    All these things are honestly fine, and to me doesn’t compare to what I see happening with this newer generation of kids that grew up online. That being said there were a lot of really bad skincare items back then even for kids, and my mom surely wasn’t aware either what was good, I had bad hormonal acne as a child with lot of scarring and sensitive skin that reacted to lot of products so it made it really difficult too.

    From what I’ve heard from other people, what the biggest concern is the attitude of the kids at Sephora. Many people have commented on other videos like this that kids will literally reach over and across ur face to grab a product and then get mad at you for not moving. Or other rude things that their mom literally see but not say anything. I think that is the bigger issue here.

      Yup! I never used it but one of my older sisters had really bad acne as a teenager. We were lower middle class growing up, so my parents bought her a Proactiv set for Christmas after she had been begging for it for so long. She used it for about 3 months with literally no results. Her acne stayed consistent and she even said that it would sting a little bit after she used it

    • @ronbee8525
      @ronbee8525 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, Proactive was just kinda expensive pseudo clinical acne treatments. I think she's underestimating how fashionable skin care has become - NO ONE talked about what skin care products you were using when I was in Jr High and later on on HS when Proactive actually really became a thing - and there were only, like three brands on the market anyways. The comparison between Proactive and Drunk Elephant is really uncanny to me.

    Eh I’d have to disagree, lip gloss like that is targeted for kids, the perfumes are fine, and I don’t know any other person in my life (maybe it’s different as a Canadian) that had used any of those skincare products as kids, and our parents were easy to say no and I understood that. Besides when I was little we had no way to see the viral or trendy stuff, so I was acting my age, still totally into the toys and such.

    First of all, I feel like the most we were using at 10 was beauty supply store lipgloss and the Maybelline pink and green tube mascara. Maybe a pop of glittery dollar store/wet n wild eyeshadow for special occasions. My mom NEVER bought me anything from Sephora or Ulta and everything I used was paid for with saved up cash from birthdays and Christmas. I washed my face with oatmeal soap and used those burning Noxema face pads. All for a quarter of the price of Drunk Elephant. The 10 year olds of today are delusional, they don't need retinols and AHA's!

(Born in '96) Even when i was in the 10-12 y/o age range, i was girly and liked doing my hair and using lotions, lip gloss,etc. I did beg my mom for a razor to start shaving when i turned 11 though. 😂 I think the whole "growing up faster" thing has only gotten worse and social media exacerbated it.

  • @KateCarew

    There’s a major difference… When millennials were 10 years old, they were buying affordable products. They were buying things you could get at regular stores. A tube of lipgloss is not unreasonable and when your kid you might want 20 tubes of lip gloss. There’s a big difference between a five dollar tube of lip gloss and a $40 facial cleanser designed for anti-aging. it also comes down to the destructive nature of their behavior. There’s so many things wrong with all of it. I will see children who are using alpha, hydroxy acids and retinoids on their faces and they haven’t even hit puberty. Never mind how expensive it is how about the fact that it’s probably not doing anything good and could potentially be harming their skin?it’s just insanity
