  • In this video, I go over how I forage/collect rosehips and turn them into a dried product for tea all winter long. I also make a casual loaf of bread, so if you want to bake along with me, feel free to watch through the end of the video.
    Tips on foraging rosehips:
-Look for rosehips in areas with decent drainage (no marshy ground), and at least partial sun
-Rosehips are much sweeter after at least one hard frost
-Rosehips can be harvested well into winter as long as they're not buried in snow or eaten by animals yet
-Squishy or wrinkly rosehips are still fine to harvest
-Avoid rosehips that are "slimy", moldy, or have broken skin
-Avoid rosehips that are on roadsides, as they may not be clean
-Make sure the rosehips you're harvesting have not been sprayed with anything that could be harmful to ingest
If you have questions about foraging in your area, call your local forest service.

Those are some great foraging tips! My mom and I used to go mushroom picking when we lived next to a forest, she would teach me about mushrooms and plants! Wouldn't trust myself to pick stuff without her, but I will keep an eye out for rosehips when I go hiking next time! Thank you!

What wonderful memories! Rosehips are a great item for beginner foragers or people who are a little uncertain, since there are no poisonous lookalikes. :)

Thank you for those crucial tips for the harvest/picking process. People often forget that we have to be careful and that we could harm the biodiversity with things as simple as picking a plant.

Yes!!! Sustainability above all else. It’s extra effort to make sure we’re foraging in a non-damaging way, but it’s sooo important. ❤️

Would you ever consider making a video talking about how you incorporate certain pagan/wiccan seasonal tenants/lifestyles into your life? The topic of secular paganism (or adopting rituals commonly associated with paganism but for environmental/ethical reasons rather than spiritual) is really fascinating, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it intersects with seasonal and low-impact living

Absolutely! That will be the main focus of a lot of my content moving forward, as soon as we’re finished moving. ❤️

Can you plant the rose hips seeds so they'll grow more in your area?
