We have had those mesh socks pull off way too many times. Stopped using them long ago. The foolproof connection is to cut the center out of the conductors and fold about 4 strands from each side both ways through the rope eye and tiewire the bundle. You can stall the tugger before that will come apart

It's nice to see the proper hardware as in forty years in the trade I've never seen one. We typically loop the rope through the pulling eye and the sock back through it. I've never broken that although I've snapped the rope a couple of feet from the sock. In most cases we never use a sock but strip the insulation back and keeping half a dozen outside strands from the cable make a head through the rope eye. Then tightly wrap it with tie wire to prevent the strands from slipping. Tape and soap and pull. In a few cases I've actually built pulling socks from black iron tie wire. In either case it's important to tie the open end of the sock tightly around the wire to cause it to tighten it's grip as you put pressure on it. Greenlee makes some excellent equipment but most shops are not going to spend one penny beyond what they have to.

I used a 5/8" nylon rope with a small grip on one end for pulling wire thru 1.25" conduit and a larger one on other end for pulling thru 2" conduit. Had a retired navy guy splice the rope. Greenlee always made great products except for their megger & hand tools.

We use wire snaggers, we don't use antiquated pulling grips like that anymore.

I managed to get that same rope in the pipe but I can't get the rest of it to even enter the 1-inch pipe 👀 👻 🤣..... 💡 📽️ 📢 🎬. 👹
