In this video I had basically done everything I could find but on my second run through Ive found little things I missed. The game has so much to offer I honestly love it, worthy successor to 1 and 2
@@existential_sad_boi I honestly don't remember. I did most of the side stuff in act 1 i thought too, but I didn't really do any in act 2 cos I wanted to get out of that area as fast as possible lol
I totally forgot about that shit. I just did this at lvl 7 second try but on balanced. His cloudkill was kicking my ass. But a well placed hypnotized on the summons bought me enough time to sort my action economy Then i hasted into ice storm for the dex disadvantage and aoe nuked everything into oblivion next turn. Ecrusted frost ring with icestorm, then lightening bolt is such a good combo
I also struggled a lot at level 7. Then I beat it at a close call thanks to RNG lord hearing my prayers just to realize that many quests failed after the fight. Reloaded, did the quests and ran into a wall at lvl 8 AGAIN 😅
hmm, I might be level here 9 here based on my spell slots, level 9 is a big boost in general, it unlocks level 5 spell slot and ups your mages power a lot, and at level 8 everyone gets a feat, so level 7 might be tough, good luck
@Makotro0 I may just do a bit of back tracking after I've done all 4 trials and at least get to lvl 8. Can't see me reaching 9 before I get to this guy though. Levels 10-12 must be a grind.
@@wardy940 fair warning that once you do this fight, you lose access to any area before the Cursed Shadowlands, so in case you havent completed Underdark/Mountainpass, you can go check them out and remember to visit Moonrise Towers before this, that place changes too In my case I reached level 12 long before the end of the game so no grinding is needed and it is not worth it to grind past level 9 at this point at all, just enjoy the game and find cool solutions to problems
Yeah my party is lvl 6, and i couldnt win this fight. I ended up taking the fight to his office instead, which was easier. Here's what i did. Before the office fight, I talked to the necromancer to give me a bell to summon Flesh (his minion). I used Flesh to fight the devil dude, and purposefully made Flesh lose, thus removing him from the office fight. Then went into the office, closed the stone doors, and started the fight. I only had to fight a handful of his minions. Hope this helps anyone!
yeah...so I did have counterspell and that didn't happen...like at all. He still summoned minions. So either game is bugged or Larian fixed it where we can't do that.
Did you attack him first before the fight began, thats how I read it works, so you for example attack him out of combat, pulling all your allies into combat, then he gets his automatic first turn and you character can counterspell, that said I didnt do this as I dont really like making too easy so it might be fixed @@84jesterx
Oh yeah, it works (27.09) you just have to attack him directly, without starting the dialogue. Did that, but it was too easy, i was lvl 9 at that point. So i did it through dialogue, but placed 2 melee fighters next to him for the opportunity attack because he has higher initiative. And also stole the potion of speed from him so no double actions my guy😂
Do you mean the shove your over the edge :D the big skeletons like to do that if you are anywhere close to the edge, thats why I move my fellas away from there
What I do is un group everyone and put them in the ledges around Balthazar while my main character is in convo with him. I run around picking up all the bones and throw them in one pile, easy lol
He summons the dead before you can do anything. If you're going to attack him before cutscene starts just have someone with counterspell and you cancel his summon.
this still works today! what i did was cast fog on balthazar using astarion and then quickly activating turn based mode. afterwards i commanded shadowheart to move closer to balthazar without getting affected by the fog so she won't get blinded, and then cast fear on balthazar. i got successful by the third time i casted fear on him so it's better to save scum on this one.
Hmm, clerics with turn undead can maybe give you some breathing room, and the haste spore grensde I used in this video is really strong if you can find one
In my first attmempt i killed him properly... then I reloaded scam for lore reasons multiple times... during my last attempt I was so upset I morphed him into a sheep and kicked down into the abyss
I did this fight yesterday, I was level 7 so I was getting ragdolled so I just decided to cheese him by casting silence on him and jumping him without listening to his evil monologue and giving him a chance to summon his army
In my case, I just used Karlach to sneak behind Balthazar and throw away all the skeletons into the abyss except for two that were in his range of vision. Then when the fight started I used banishment on one of the remaining skeletons, a spell to trap undeads with balthazar and the rest was just ganking on him lmao! that was so ez
With a little bit of preparation. I killed him without losing any hp. I had my sussur weapon with Karlach. Pre cast haste on her. Pre cast bless on party. Used my main to start fight by firing off arrow of arcane interference. This silenced him so he could not haste or summon. Karlach proceeded to make mince meat of him and keep silence up
How do you even get to this point? I am struggling so much with this fight, but the moment I jump down onto this surface, the cutscene begins. I can't prepare for the battle or get close like this. He always goes first and drinks a potion of haste, casts cloudkill and wrecks my entire party. I'm level 8, what am I gonna dooooo
You can change your character when you are in dialog, at the lower left you can select a different character who is not talking to the npc, then buff up and return to the character in conversation and start the fight!
Lol i just kill him in his chambers…you get nothing fighting him here since the undead he summons do not even give xp. I challenged him as a fellow necromancer…he stood no chance. Thsi fight was just a waste of time and resources since you have to fight ketheric at moonrise after this.
you can change your controlled character during cutscenes in bottom left, most of the time they can run around freely when your one character is stuck in the conversation @@bo4287
Nothing special, I just explored everywhere in both acts 2 and 1, wilderness, underdark, the forge, mountainpass and did every companion side quest that I came up on
After this vidéo, i just chlose to fighr him in the area we meet him with a sorcerer+ wizard with 6 archer skeleton,2elemal, second marriage, fire elemental, a ranger5/thief3 with double ranged, and a warrior/that dish 5*30dmg attack (lvl8) Then i remembered that i could use the money glitch to one shot him after filling him with money Btw i nearly died, with this 🤐
lol, so Baltazar is there, good to know, i killed him in his office when we first met, i play a barbarian, and i attack everybody, who talks shit about me, or has a breakable face, so that was a double check in his case. I did not cheesed the fight, and was lvl8 at the time, the good old axe meet face tactic worked on him, also on his zombie hulk.
Lol I had my shadowheart talk to him while I used my main character to stand in front of him and then I one tapped him with repulsor and made him fly off the edge lmao... hope he didn't have anything too good on him
Haha, lets all just play how we want to, go do some barrelmancy and cheese the encounter, or pile all the corpses before the encounter, or stun balthazar before the fight even begins!

How did you get here so fast?? My wife, my friend and i were level 8 and had to reload about six or seven times. Skellies would not give up

Susser dagger cheeses him by just silencing him immediately and then you just beat him up. All the loot but no challenge

If you just attack attack him and you have counterspeell unlocked you can stop him from summoning reinforcements makeing his fight a 1 v 4

cast fear on him and he drops his sword and cant summon the dead. killed him in 3 turns lol
Command drop also usually works! Or a class who can disarm, you can do this on many friendly npcs too to snag their weapons 😄

Never thought about silencing him BEFORE the fight. But it makes perfect sense... will consider for honour mode.
I just threw a void bulb at the edge before initiating the fight and it sucked him off the platform. I struggled for hours trying to beat it normally

If you are sneaking the cutscene doesnt start. At least it didnt start for me.

How? As soon as i walk a step the cut scene activates. I cant interput it and the fight starts right after
