This is so good. Your adaptability, flexibility, discipline, and positivity are inspiring. I love how you advise to get a good chunk of school in before taking a break. I love how you mention doctor’s appointments and shifting things. I appreciate the tips!!! Bless you, my sister in Christ!
A million Thank you for this video. I am new to your channel and to homeschooling life. I am planning on doing a year round for my son come July. After watching many home schools videos and even though they were informative, they just felt ALL OVER for this newbe. Your video were much needed refreshment on how SIMPLE it can be. Grazi
I cannot thank you enough for giving this information! I just ordered all the curriculum from TG&TB. I’m a first time homeschool mom. I have a 5yr old and a 10yr. We are starting as soon as my books come in! You have given me courage to homeschool!
I watched this video when i was first looking into homeschooling a few months ago and now i am planning our first year to start in June YAY! Your video on planning out a year round schedule was the only one that didn't make me feel like I was prepping for brain surgery lol so THANK YOU!!!
You are such an amazing resource! I am trying to work on figuring out a year round schedule since the summers are pretty useless here. No one wants to go outside and play when its 105+ all summer, so I want to keep them busy with school work so they can enjoy the fall.
I love that you are doing what works for you! We are going to give year round a try this year. I'm also feeling really excited after watching this. To have all the curriculum finish up at different times at the end seems like it would help give us extra motivation to keep going strong to the end!
The only issue you may run into (speaking from experience with Level K) is that some of the language arts lessons are MUCH longer than others. You should be able to double up on some days, but just be aware that some individual lessons will take multiple days.
What a great planning video! Thank you for sharing, this is my first year homeschooling, so I was really overthinking how to plan for the year. Thank you for your help !!
love this video we will be starting our good and the beautiful curriculum in August i was wondering if you would put out another video on your schedule order now that you are using TG&TB im trying to decide on if we should do family work like history /bible first then independent work or the other way around since i have three kids at different levels.
thats great ! ive been watching all the flip through videos and reviews everyone is putting out. I am so excited to get it ordered and start! it all looks so amazing i already have the history and im in love with that already and we have not even started using it!
Thanks for sharing! Simple is always best and actually doable! Do you use your planner for the weekly section to write the lessons down or just follow the Teachers guide for each next lesson? I hear ya on science taking longer and needing more time. You could always block off or block schedule science for the spring and focus on history in the fall and winter. Blessings to y’all!
Moments Peace I just follow the next lesson method. I don’t write down anything in my weekly planner section except if we did school or not, also love your suggestion!
Grace and Grit thanks! I am like you I don’t really like writing down each lesson. It’s much easier to just have the big picture and the basics written down in my planner. The block schedule for history and science has worked really well for our large family over the years. You can go deeper and finish faster with a singular focus. This year we have done both subjects and it’s been good but harder to manage each day. But homeschooling is all about seasons and flexibility right? My high schooler likes it blocked better. She says it’s less stressful. But a CM method makes doing more subjects each day or week way more doable. Hope that helps!
Hello. I have a planning question. Do you just use a sticky tab or something to mark where you need to pick up and begin each day? I mean in your Language arts books, Math, Science, and History books. Instead of listing items in a planner.
Beautiful cover on your planner. This is super interesting! I never took the time to watch a year round homeschool video, so I alway imagined that you just always and forever did school all the time. I'm super interested in this!! Thank you! If you are not using TGaTB math, does your math also have 130ish lessons? Every math curriculum I've seen has 160+.
Do you do more than one of TGTB science unit studies in one year? (I am thinking you stretch out one) I'm trying to decide if I want to start us off with a broad covering creation study or just dig in deeply with one of their science studies. :) BTW: I am a widowed mama of 4 and really didn't feel I could homeschool my kids. However, it was deeply in my heart to do so. I found your channel, soaked up much of your wisdom, and am about to begin our first year. I actually feel like I CAN do this now because of the way you keep things meaningful, well done, but also simple and streamlined. Seeing it done this way made a world of difference for me. I am truly thankful to have found your channel. May God richly bless you and your family.
Jennifer Terrance bless you mama! Lifting you up in prayers as you begin this journey! I do two or three units depending:) sending you all my love! ❤️❤️
I truly love how easy going and free flowing your planning is. You're my hero. You should see my insanity!! We do 38 subjects, so lesson planning is Cray! Lol. I'm a pen and paper gal too!
Nikki H It doesn't cover a ton of what is integral to us and it doesn't cover the extras that it covers in a living way, imho. So, it's a no go for us. I do envy the planning ease, but our CM way of life is too precious to us. I am always inspired by Ashley, though, whether I do it the way she does or not. I love hearing about everyone's different ways of homeschooling. ❤
Thanks for the response! Do you mind me asking what the difference is between TGTB and CM? Is it similar to Classical Conversations? More book work ect?
New sub here. Also will be starting our first year of HS this fall! So nervous and feel all over the place. However Already love your channel!!! So much helpful and informative information!! Thank you for sharing with us!! ❤️
First off, LOVE your channel. Second, I have a question. For the good and the beautiful curriculum, my daughter just started level 1 language arts and is finishing Math K. We just stopped Kumon with her where she had homework m-f year round including holidays, so that's what she is used to. If I continued that with the good and the beautiful levels, she would complete 2 levels per year. Is that something that could work or should I just spread out the lessons over a year so she will be old enough for the content?
How much time off do you give between school years? I've wanted to do year round, but we get some serious Spring fever here in Alaska come April. Which makes it hard to push through those final weeks. So, we've always done a traditional summer break. This year, I've thought about 9 weeks on and 1 week off. Do you also find it hard to get this kids refocused after breaks? TIA! Love watching your videos
I just wanted to say, we were in Alaska for 3 years (we're hoping we can go back! LOVED it!) and we did NOT do a year round there. There's no way. As soon as spring hits we want to be outdoors doing all the things! When we moved down south, we do year round now because the summer is just miserable. But yea, they definitely got off track and it took some time getting them back into the groove of things, and it was rather frustrating. So the last year we were there, every week we did some sort of math and writing just to keep their brains thinking about it :).
I totally feel the same way. I've never done year round, but was toying with it to allow more breaks. However, we are having some serious Spring fever and its making finishing up hard. The snow is thawing and temps have been in the upper 40's and low to mid 50's. Gorgeous!! But, we are slowing down and hitting all the core stuff in the mornings and hit and miss with everything else. Thanks for your reply!
Do you seem to have problems with them retaining information or getting back on track after each week you have taken off? We are in Alabama and it is so hot in the summer so they get really bored and "electronic crazy" the two months we take off. I think I want to try a different schedule next year. Also I love your channel!
Hi, I'm curious do you use a separate curriculum for bible or is it all incorporated in the Good and the Beautiful? Also what will you be doing for math next year? I've decided to use Good and the Beautiful for everything, but I'm not sure what to do with math. Since they don't have any levels other than K at this time.
Thank you so much for sharing! I have been watching all your videos and appreciating how much we have in common! 📝🏃🏻♀️🏋🏻♀️🙌🏼 You have inspired me to take my kids out of traditional school and homeschool them. My Good and the Beautiful order arrived today and I can’t wait to dive in!!!! 😍
Our schedules are almost exactly alike!! Unbelievable! I also have 4-day school weeks and do year round. I finished scheduling our 2018-2019 school year in the beginning of April. We take a week off every 8 to 10 weeks and two weeks off in December. I also love that this month our days have been so light since my two sons have finished mostly all their books already. My youngest only has bible and handwriting at this point. Two more weeks and we're done. We see the light at the end of the tunnel! 😉 Have a great weekend!
Grace and Grit Amazing, isn't it?!? I am enjoying our year-round schedule this year. The only problem I have is how many weeks do I give my two sons off between grades. I gave them only a month last year but thought it was a bit short. Would you say five to six weeks is ok? How many weeks off do you give your children? Thank you for all your inspiring videos. You have a beautiful family!
Rosie S. You are so sweet, Thankyou! I do take a longer break between grades. So we will finish 4/30. And then begin mid June :) so about 5-6 weeks here. It’s a great mini summer- reset- time to prepare etc .
I love your Erin condren cover!
JAIMIE KIGHT Thankyou!!!
That's soo helpful.. thank you soo much ❤️from India
Rose gold!
Also, I'd love to see a vlog of your trip
Thank you so much for this video!! This is my 1st homeschool year and this is so helpful!!! 👍🏻😀

Janessa Lockwood ❤️ you can do it❤️

I love the classic simplicity! I tend to be an over-thinker and have realized how much time I waste making charts and plans when I could just jump in.
You are such an amazing resource! I am trying to work on figuring out a year round schedule since the summers are pretty useless here. No one wants to go outside and play when its 105+ all summer, so I want to keep them busy with school work so they can enjoy the fall.
A mommy's life vlog exactly us💕

Thank you Ashley! This was really helpful. This is will be our third year of homeschooling and will be our first to do year around.
The only issue you may run into (speaking from experience with Level K) is that some of the language arts lessons are MUCH longer than others. You should be able to double up on some days, but just be aware that some individual lessons will take multiple days.
SimpleHealthyLiving yes I’m aware:) Thankyou! I will just move to the next thing when we get there, that’s why my plans are loose starts and endings!
What a great planning video! Thank you for sharing, this is my first year homeschooling, so I was really overthinking how to plan for the year. Thank you for your help !!

Do you have a daily rhythm schedule to share how you work all your different grades in a day?
Zia Moon coming soon!

Ieshia Goodell about 6 weeks between grades! It’s always a tiny transition to get back into it but they are always eager because we aren’t burned out

So, around what month do u actually finish? And then how long do u take off?
onka256 different this year. Wrap up in April/May begin again mid late June.
Great planning video. Even though we aren't using this curriculum i like seeing how you plan. It is still helpful. Thank you.
Michelle Channell thanks so much!
This is SO helpful! Thank you 😊❤️
Around how many lessons are being covered per week?
Brenda Gonzalez we school 4 days a week so we cover 4 lessons usually a week.
So you write your lessons at your notebook?
Love this, thanks for sharing!
Amanda Miller Thankyou for watching!

Cayla German no we haven’t had any increase in difficulty coming back after a break!
Are you required to school 180 days?

R. G. Between 3-4 on average
Grace and Grit cool thanks! 😊
Do you still teach cursive? New subscriber here😊 I teach cursive but some of my kids hate it so I dont push it too much.
