Austin you are on Point! No matter the Equipment of any kind! We still have to employ basic fishing skills PERIOD!

Best point of view I’ve seen on TH-cam! I’m in the same boat!! Like everything there’s good and bad! There’s days I don’t even turn it on just because I want to enjoy j a day in the boat without staring all day😂

Great video Austin! Super good points to consider for all anglers. Way to keep it real.

This is a great take man. It's certainly not the same level of sporting pursuit that fishing is without it, and Its strange to me that people frequently want to argue that it is. I agree with both Randy and Ben to a point, but neither are open minded enough about it. As time goes on, FFS just needs to continually be monitored to make sure its still falls in ethical guidelines of fair chase and it doesnt damage fisheries, but we dont know yet what all the implications of using it are in the longer term.

I just bought the livescope and I see it as definitely a tool to improve. I can see what I’m doing right or wrong with my presentation. Only after a couple days of watching I’m really starting to understand their patterns and how they travel

Technology is making people dumb and incompetent. FFS is eliminating the need for skill and experience. Some of the guys will argue all day saying it's not that much of an advantage, even though they can see the fish, don't mean they can catch them, what a ridiculous argument! Huge advantage over reading the conditions and blind casting.
Professional angling is turning into who has the most social media following for advertising, sponsors look at that more so than who has the experience and skill. The seasoned professional guys will regret this fight in the near future, when young guys with little experience but very good with electronics take their place.

I think.... if anybody cares... if you do not have fun fishing you are losing. Its supposed to be fun. Not a poker game with anything at stake. You are the man. I troll on you and ben m sometimes and you responded to one of my crappy comments on Bens channel the other day. I totally admire you sticking up for a good friend. I really like your channel and would like to book a guide trip sometime. Just starting to make some good money so it may be a minute... look forward to meeting you hop.

Great video. Young anglers need to learn to read the water prior to learning FFS.

Brother this spot on! I have Cheater Scope lol, last trip to Table Rock a month ago I got caught up in it and after day 3 of staring at the screen and catching 12 inch spot I turned it off and went back to my root and found a pattern and commenced to wreck smallmouths for the last 3 days of the trip. All ages need to watch this video. Good shit 💩

I don’t have live scope, Power Poles or Spot Lock, it’s amazing that I ever catch anything. Funny thing is I find that I have as much success as I ever did.

As with anything it boils down to not being a one trick pony. Like you said its a tool nothing more and it should be used as one of many but its not the end all be all.

Live scope is good but you can’t beat the knowledge on the lake and seasonal patterns but also with out live scope you become more in tune with the fish and there movements depending on the weather

I believe that 90% of fishermen that don’t have FFS are clueless on how the system works. Seeing a blip on the screen at the 60’ distance tells you that there is some species of fish swimming somewhere between your 11:00 and 1:00 position. It’s about a 20’ margin of error.

Simple answer. The best tool an angler has is their brain. Two weeks ago I went to Lake X. I caught over 30 fish with LiveScope and minnows. Two days later a local guide asked me to show him the live minnow deal. We fished out of his boat. His boat didn't have LiveScope. I caught 2 bass, he caught zero. With LiveScope I was able to make pin point casts to the fish. I'm able to keep my minnow in front of the fish longer. This is an example of how LiveScope has it's place as a tool.

Yeah 100% a tool and the best tool is the brain! Love that!

Im not a biologist, but here is my opinion...i have been fishing for well over 40 years, and in the last 3 years i have been either using live scope in my boat or fishing with others that have it. Does it make it easier? No, it makes it easier to see some fish but not to catch them. I agree in the past couple of years you have seen more big fish and more record bags caught, where is the recognition for the department of natural resources, where is the recognition to the bait companies for making more lifelike baits, and the same for rod reel and line companies. Its way more than live scope, its the knowledge of learning more about the sport and technology has helped in more ways than electronics.

    • @americasoutdoorfam

Great take! I would put an asterisk on that by saying it definitely depends on the state. My home state of NC is still the same crumby bags year in and year out.

It’s all belong anglers ..Randy and some gotta get over it..we spend 60-90k for a boat what’s a 5-15k more if it’s your passion and love ..it’s not needed and free the baits have changed n helped a lot..we take care of our lakes and continue to preserve our bass I see no issue

It’s not just fishing, it’s cell cams in hunting, it’s AI in writing, it’s social media with the news… too much inflow of technology is dumbing down and desensitizing people to life.

FFS is NOT hurting fish populations i think its helping them i dont one single person that keeps bass and crappie i throw way more back than i did pre FFS. Is it making them harder to catch id says yes possibly ..but u know how many i caught using SI pre FFS ??? Thousands nobody crying about that ..

    • @americasoutdoorfam

I am a regular watcher of both Randy's rants and Ben's comments. Randy does tend to take things a bit too far with his zealousness, FFS and man made climate change are the main two, but, I do think FFS has the ability to "dumb down" offshore fishing. When I purchased my new boat in April of 2022, the LVS 34 transducer had just become available, so I added it to the boat before I picked it up. I prefer to fish shallow, and rarely use it, but have on occasion. Most of my fishing is Chick and Watts Bar, with the occasional visit to Chatuge. I do think both MLF and BASS need to put some sort of limit on technology, number of screens, transducers and such. I watched a walk through of Seth Feider's new Blazer. He had 2 LVS 34 'ducers on the front, plus the typical down and side imaging, along with a 12" and a 20+ screen, and 2 -12"2 on the console. That's just too much.

Ffs definitely don’t help fishing. More fish are being caught because ffs so ima say it’s hurting fishing. Good for the angler bad for the fish.
