I’m hitting the big 30 this year and I am wanting to start to simplify my life and focus on what’s important. Making more quality time with loved ones and focusing on my health. It’s great going on the ride of life with you. Lots of love
I am a Canadian, too, and I switched from the kindle to the Kobo a few years ago because you can take digital books out of the LIBRARY onto your Kobo!!! It's the best thing ever. I swear I'm saving hundreds of dollars on books (fiscal responsibility, lol). I don't think you can access Canadian libraries on a kindle, so I highly recommend the Kobo! I love my Kobo 😊 Happy New Year - thanks for all the vids and inspiration and hope 2024 is wonderful.
I do this too! In the United States I canceled my kindle subscription and now I get books for free and read more books because I could only have them for 21 days
I'm definitely joining "Team Get Presentable" and looking forward to getting a brush to my hair more often 😆 P.S. I applaud you for having interest to learn Serbian. It's a gift to be able to preserve cultural identity of parents and to be able to pass that on to children. 💛
Very inspiring, Lan! A technique that has been so helpful for me with self-talk is I stop myself and ask “would I say that to my best friend?” “Would I say that to my 7 year old self?” It’s been so helpful. I wish you the happiest new year and may you fulfill your wishes for 2024! 😘❤️
As a fellow fantasy girl, I reeeeaaaallllyyyy recommend Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. She’s a Native botanist who goes into the science and cultural significance of plants. She’s incredible at weaving storytelling into really informative info.
mobility, stretching and being able to do the splits!!! i can relate to you… those were my goals every year but i REALLY need to act on it and just do it
You go girl! As a full time carer, i've found i've put my hobbies and interests aside as i don't have the same free time as i used to. This year, i'm determined to get back to 2 things i love, ballet and jewellery making. Somehow will make this happen xo
Although it definitely isn’t easy, a positive mindset is really everything! Many of us are so fortunate to have such simple necessities and it can speak miles to acknowledge that daily.
Yes! The piano thing speaks to me! I’ve played piano since I was 4 and I gave it up a few years back. I want to have that relaxing pastime back in my life! Music is so good for the soul ❤️
I missed you! Loved your resolutions and can relate to so many of them. Like reading more, having more hobbies (for me is the guitar), paying more attention to my finances, and Im also going to Paris for the 1st time and taking my drivers license this year. So excited for 2024!
Ok huge reader here. I think you should read what you love and almost never out of a sense of obligation. That said I loved all these nonfiction books recently: - Vagina Obscura - Bitch! - Eve by Cat Bohannon - The Heat Will Kill You First (not fun but so important)
I like the 'being grateful for GETTING to go to the gym' part. Not just because it's for your own benefit but also cause it's good to be aware of the fact that it is indeed a privilege. I personally would love nothing more than to be in good health and be able to workout. Also, good to hear that you took time to fully rest and recharge. Looking forward to the new videos!
I love your language goal! I’m getting married this year and my fiancé is English-speaking but I am Macedonian. He hasn’t learnt Macedonian yet, but I think that I can help convince him to learn the language if I tell him that me and the children are going to have our own secret language without him. 😂 love your videos thank you for being amazing truthful and sincere. 💗💗 #hotgirlwinter
I have been watching your & Dejans journey for what feels like forever. I always see you upbeat & motivated! It’s inspiring. I wish oh SO wish I could go to the gym, it’s definitely a privilege to be able to do so. Heck, I’d be happy if I could leave my bed most days. Praying my rheumatologist gets me back to feeling like my 30’s! Thanks for keeping me entertained on this freezing Michigan morning.
Love the goals and I feel more related than ever! I joined a sport team in 2023 and it has been a game changer for me because it makes me actually want to train with the goal of performance instead of looks, which feels super rewarding and easy to keep up with! A goal of mine for 2024 is to buy less stuff (looking at you, clothing and makeup) and to use and enjoy what I already have... So far, I've been doing great and using my money towards fun activities instead of hoarding endless crap... It seems I'm headed to a good year. Best of luck with your goals!
im focused on getting into the best shape of my life this year and managing money/ getting out of debt in 2024. As far as the gym goes ....-this is new for me so going to the gym 3x a week is where im starting and i hope to improve on that and build strength, stamina, look my best and feel confident in my body again. i used to be a dancer and stopped after brain surgeries so a big part of getting into the best shape of my life is to pick up dancing again ! this is def gonna be a lifestyle change and im so excited to see how far ill get at the end of the year ( and so on!) Im also managing my money . im dealing fraudulent activity and resolving that issue is a goal for 2024. it made me get serious about my finances, be more mindful and intentional and informative about money and im looking to learn more about it in the years to come.
I loveeed this video! I even took some notes on the goals, which are so inspiring. Also switching "get ready every day" to "get presentable" is such a great idea and removes a lot of pressure haha Thank you Allana!!
Love your goals so much! When you were mentioning positive self talk and meditation, I couldn’t stop thinking of Melissa Wood Tepperberg for meditation and Pilates/yoga and author Louise Hay’s book “you can heal your life”. They seem right up your alley and have been so helpful to me. Cheers to your 2024!
I’m turning 30 this year, graduating medical school, starting family medicine residency, and getting into shape! It’s going to be a huge overwhelming year so I just want to focus on feeling my best so I can be my best in my first job as a doctor. Also trying to not buy frivolous things as I have sooooooo much debt from school that now feels real lol
Happy new year!!! 🎉 I also have been sick and still not well but I get to lie here and catch up on lanmas. My goals are to get my gut healthy, try to get my social anxiety under control and to try do more. I'm hoping I actually stick to it.
You need to read some memoir and a great one to start with is 'I'm Glad my Mom Died' by Jenette McCurdy or even Julia Fox's memoir. I pretty much only read memoir, fiction has to read like memoir for me to enjoy it. I'm also a non-fiction writer so...hehe
Do you have your kindle hooked up to your local library/Libby? This has saved me so much money over the last couple years. Recent non fiction recs: Hidden Potential by Adam Grant, Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman, and currently reading Indictment: The Criminal Justice System on Trial by Benjamin Perrin, and listening to The Creative Act; A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. ☺
Had grand plans for 2024 however been struggling with illness since basically Christmas Eve. Cannot wait to be better so I can tackle all I have planned for this new year. Thanks so much for sharing your new year goals! Some similar goals for myself as well! ❤
You can always decide that your "new year" will start at a different time. I love leaning into the rest and relaxation theme for winter but some spring then I really launch into my year of plans.
Hi Allana. Great goals, thanks for sharing. For non-fiction, I love getting audiobooks from my local library and listening to them while getting my steps in. Great way to do it for free and if you don’t end up liking it, you didn’t invest anything!
welcome back and a happy new year! we missed you :) speaking of the warmup routine, I like MadFit's workouts, warm ups and cool downs, she is great! :) btw I love to cook and bake and one of my resolutions is to try a new recipe once a week :) good luck!
When Breath Becomes Air is one of my all time favorite memoirs and I read a lot of non fiction books. Makes you question your life’s purpose and cry in the process of reading 😭
Happy New Year Lan, Dejan snd Meowryl 🐱 🎉🎉 I have never in my life gone to bed without a shower and for the life of me I cannot understand why people would only shower in the morning ??. A shower before bed, getting into fresh sheets and using a fresh towel is life 🥰🥰 2 showers a day will change your world 🌍 ❤
A mobility room is my dream!! I absolutely love @strengthside here on TH-cam. The “morning stretch routine” is my every day stretch, so much so i have it memorized now 🙊 I’m also a Fantasy Girlie & recently read Fourth Wing series & working my way thru A Court of Thorns & Roses series, to say I’m obsessed is an understatement!! Happy New Year! ❤
Fantastic start to a new year! Even though I am much older than you, I learn a great deal from watching you. I think you are wise beyond your years. And yes, you will still shop and try new products, however it is great to see you wanting to have more empties 😊
I think you might enjoy reading "Cleopatra and Frankenstein". Got me back into reading a lot because its a fun read (its fiction but not fantasy), like watching a series. As for a non-fiction book I really liked "Atomic Habits", its also a great read for the new year! Loved the video!
My goal of 2024: have my diploma at uni, be more responsible w/ money, i hope to have a job, do more sport cause i have time (i'm on holiday), be more careful w/ my skin (wash my brushes, my skincare) 🙄🙄 Beside love the vid, Lana like usual!!!
My plans for 2024 are simplifying my skincare and makeup routine and using up what I have too! Also to really do a good job with my garden this year. I haven’t started the year super strong by any means because I found out a few months ago I was pregnant and I’m due at end of June/beginning of July so there was lots of just surviving the nausea and fatigue with the two children I already have. 😂
Happy new year 🎉 we all missed your face after lanmas was complete. So many great goals and aspirational habits for 2024! Some book suggestions: Fiction - the three body problem. Its sci-fi fantasy and they are making it into a Netflix series or movie, so interesting! Non-fiction - the rise of Superman. Its all about insane human performance and uses really cool athletic examples like skateboarding and rock climbing and all kinds of incredible physical human feats. So so so good. I love the 'do more fun stuff' goal! Its too easy to get in a rut of the same activities over and over to socialize. Can't wait to see how the progress goes as the year unfolds!!
Love all the inspo! Tysm!! Im an avid reader and at some point I was stuck on thrillers and people killing people 😂😂 I decided to go back to historycal fiction and classics and have been loving that! (You will never find me reading self-improvement, NO! 😅)
Im glad you mentioned how lucky you are to be able to move your body. At 35 i have a body that does not work and the surgeries seem to never end. So lately I have been finding it hard to watch your videos because they make me feel bad about myself and tje life i want but cannot have. People take health for granted
I’m turning 30 this year and it’s the year for me to focus on moving my body in healthy ways. You are inspiring me! HGW! I just love your videos and I hope you never stop posting 😆
I'm totally on the HGW train! Just did my very first HIIT workout ever yesterday 😅 I've been loving the Move with Adrienne series on TH-cam to get me back into yoga.
1) I had a spinach smoothie because of you first thing in the morning and I feel so much more accomplished already 🤣2) thanks for the motivation, it worked 🤌🏽and 3) you look STUNNUNG (as always) 💜 also, Happy new year! 🎆
Great nonfiction book (especially the audible version) is How To Hide an Empire. Kept me riveted. I find it hard to stay focused while reading non fiction, but realized if it is an audio non fiction book then it is easier for me to pay attention to.
Peloton has tons of warm ups on the app (mobility stuff) and since you already have the membership via the tread maybe worth checking out! They also have foam rolling classes and stuff like that
I haven't read it yet but I just heard of a book by Cass Sunstein and Tali Sharot called 'Look Again: the power of noticing what was always there' and it seems like a really interesting non-fiction/self-help option! Its about the neuroscience of habituation and becoming numb to our lives and failing to notice the good and bad things because they've become commonplace. It's a bit about romanticising the good things and challenging the bad things in life
My husband loves Brandon Sanderson! He’s read like all of his books! I can ask him for some good recommendations for you. I know it’s not what your looking for bc it’s fantasy and not non fiction lol 😂
My husband and I are fantasy/horror novel lovers. In 2018 we decided to do a year long book club together. We would have some months where we honoured our faves (if an author we loved had a new book coming out we both wanted to read, or a good horror novel for October) but we started pushing ourselves to read more and more outside of our regular genres. Non fic can be hard for us too, but here are a few of our faves from over the years, because it's 2024 now and the book club is still going strong haha! I also find that listening to non fic audiobooks while I work/workout/clean is a better way for me to digest them. Then I can treat myself and settle down on the couch with a good fantasy novel and be cozy. The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson - good mix of history and gripping true crime about serial killer HH Holmes (the only non fic book I've read that has cliffhangers?!) Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann - timely with the new movie release, tells the story of how the Osage people were used, taken advantage of and murdered by white colonists Outliers & The Tipping Point, both by Malcolm Gladwell - a deep dive into the factors that make people successful, and the moment when an idea/social construct/trend spreads throughout society, respectively (highly recommend the audio books specifically as Gladwell reads them himself and it sounds very conversational. Very easy to listen to and it goes by fast) I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy - an honest bio of growing up a child star and suffering abuse at the hands of your mother (she also reads her own audiobook) The Divorce Colony by April White - an interesting look into a very specific period of time in a small town in South Dakota where the divorce laws for women were the most lax in the entire country. This led to the town earning it's name as the Divorce Colony as women flocked there to be able to gain independence The Immortal Life of Henriette Lacks by Rebecca Skloot - an absolutely fascinating look at the history of HeLa cells, the impact they've had on science, and the complete injustice that was done to Henrietta Lacks and generations of her family by using her cells without explicit permission and compensation
Lan! Great video and goals! We share a lot of similar goals which I love! My friends and I all turned 30 last year and we also made a pact to do more fun things together and it’s been SO much fun - we’ve taken a pole dancing class, glow in the dark paint party, meditation circles and we are doing pottery painting this weekend 😂 truly such a fun and rewarding goal! As for reading, 2023 in devoured books and plan to again this year. I’m a big fantasy/romance gal and I highly recommend Fourth Wing and Iron Flame if you haven’t read them. I also recommend “things we never got over” series by Lucy Score and the “Chestnut Springs” series by Elsie Silver - those are romance just in case that genre isn’t your thing! All the best in 2024!!!
Excited to hear that you're planning to play the piano again :) if you ever need a little online piano session with any of the pieces you'd like to learn, I will be happy to help!
Reframing and positive self talk can be so helpful! For example, now if our dogs get paw prints on the floor we call it "puppy art" and i just saw a decorative thing calling pet fur their "glitter" lol
Hi beautiful Allana! I am glad you rested and that you are feeling better!!! I love your goal setting.. and how very encompassing and well rounded it is... please please add ONE BIG EXTRA SO VERY IMPORTANT GOAL ---- please add self-compassion, please be gentle with yourself!!! I know you spoke about it in terms of how you speak to / about yourself. But/ and... you have so many amazing goals... and if anyone could tackle a day... it's you.... AND when you don't do it ALL, please add the goal that you will allow yourself grace!! BOOK REC... this was not necessarily my "favorite read," but it was a very important read... especially as someone who has struggled with depression and motivation my entire life. And I think it will speak to you (and maybe Dan) because you 2 have committed so hard to movement. The book is "Spark" by John Ratley, Md... it is the science behind why / how exercise is the full or very crucial piece of the cure to almost all of our afflictions... mental, emotional, physical/ disease, hormonal, pro-aging,..... Some of what he shares, many of us know intuitively... but the science gives the affirmation that moving will cure, and lift and provide health and ignite! I have so many other recommendations... but this jumped out as one that is non-fiction and one that relates to the biggest commitment you have made to yourself in the past year +. With gratitude for all that you share. Happy January! Edit to add... in terms of meditation... I have explored dozens of styles for over 20 years. I tried to force myself to practice a specific style because a teacher that I admire and have been certified by, practices that style.... I HATE it. I have come to understand that that there is not one way... not one "right" way... explore the variations... and one will feel peaceful, or bring you to a deeper or higher state, or in some way you will know THIS is the style to commit to. In your exploration, I would highly recommend checking out Emily Fletcher who started Ziva mind... she has an online course... her teaching is funny, smart and accessible... she is not in a robe on a mountain (which is beautiful too) - but she is so relatable and accessible... she teaches mantra. For me, it is the style that has stuck and just does not leave, no matter what else I try. Happy exploration ; )
Love the mobility room! And I think your goals seem doable! You definitely need to get working on that Serbian though, definitely don’t want to be left out😂 When it comes to non fiction books, I read a lot of memoirs and a lot of books about Native Americans and the Japanese culture especially Geisha. I think if you find something you have an interest in, you’ll be ok. Otherwise it feels like you’re back in school.
I've also adopted the attitude of using up what I have. This will be easier with skincare than makeup. I want to really figure out what are my favorite go-to products. I want to stick to those in the future, and only stray off the path for something I really want. I started this the past couple of years, focusing on clean products; but 2024 will be the year I really figure it out, I definitely want to work through my products.
happy new year! Love your goals and share many of them! 😊 But showering twice a day? Its suuuuch a water waste 🙈 - sometimes I shower every other day (cleaning needed areas by hand) but maybe it is a European thing?
I love Hidden Figures by Margot Zoe Shetterly for nonfiction. I just read The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz, it’s like mindfulness/spirituality but not religion/preachy and a super quick read. You and Jamie Genevieve got me into reading fantasy/romantasy! Some adult fantasy series I’ve been enjoying are From Blood & Ash, Bargainer, The Broken Kingdoms, Outlander, Dark Olympus, and Hades x Persephone Saga. If you don’t mind YA fantasy Red Queen, Caraval, Woven Kingdom, and Realm Breaker. Then when I’ve been reading too much fantasy/book hangover I read hockey romance to clear my brain. You should try it, not because you’re Canadian, fluffy romance is good for ending a reading slump!
My fav non-fiction books: 1. The Nature Fix by Florence Williams 2. Storyteller by Dave Grohl. Also, does your public library have loans for Ebooks? I know ours does in Manitoba and it’s awesome because you don’t need to spend money on books!
Allana, I am a fantasy girlie here too but 2023 was the year I started reading non fiction books and I have really been enjoying them! I don’t like reading them physically but listening to them like a podcast while I am cooking or cleaning has been amazing. I also use my local library through the Libby app and I get kindle and audio books from there for free that way I don’t have to spend on books I am not sure I will like or not. The last book I listened to was Feminism is for Everybody by Bell Hooks and it was sooo good! Feminism is a topic I know very little about and have always been interested in but also intimidated by so this was a great starting book for me and it was very short and easy to understand.
Memoir recs: Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed and am I am I am by Maggie O'Farrell! You would probably love Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker as well, its very academic but will really motivate you in your sleep hygiene journey! Happy reading!
If you have a local library card many of them partner with programs like hoopla or Libby (there’s many other programs too just ask your local librarian)! You can borrow ebooks or audiobooks for free (up to a certain limit/month.)
I just ordered the nudestix beachy nudes yesterday evening and I'm so looking forward to using the lovely vibrant picante! As I don't use blush on a regular basis I figured that mini size would be totally enough for my use. I feel for me January is the month of buying decorative cosmetics 😂 exactly the opposite of your new year's resolutions but I feel like the items I ordered now I'll really try using like blush. Actually one of my new year resolutions if I want to call it this way is using the products and also get presentable every day which is something I used to do most of the past months and I'm going to continue this. And I also wanted to use more blush because it simply gives the face such a nice hint of colour. I always just used a so called bronzer which has a more warm toned and kinda rosy colour and I just went all over the face and that's it but I want to switch it up from time to time so I also ordered the nudestix, one of the hyped essence pure nude baked blushes and finally a liquid blush from bell hypoallergenic which is also stunning in my opinion. And other than that I'll try to find a dupe for the Chanel cherry oil in the shade rosy rosewood - thought about the e.l.f. One (shade rose envy) because I looooooved the looks with just the lip liner plus a nice lip oil but I can't spend 40€ for a lip oil and I don't use brands that do animal testing so Chanel and many other brands are a no to me. I think if we continue supporting brands that do such cruel things they'll never change. So this is one thing I'm definitely going to continue in 2024. ❤ And last but not least I think the idea of doing more fun things is amazing and it also fits my way I want to live life this year. For me this hopefully will be, buying a cute small Oldtimer caravan and use it to live the best life with my two so much loved senior dogs in my spare time to make them live the best possible life for the time they have left on this earth. ❤❤❤❤
I'm really thankful for this video! It gives me a "little push" or "deferent perspective to see thing when we face something real. I broke my tail bone 2weeks ago and I got fired because of my ingury😢
LLAMA, this video motivated me! I have never been one for New Year resolutions, but this had me realizing I had adopted that mentality from other people. I'm about to make a list of my own and I appreciate your vulnerability in sharing yours
I loved your article with Elle Canada, stunning pictures also. Have you tried the Embryolisse Hydra-Crème à l'Orange already? It's a great product also!!
I’ve simplified my makeup and skincare, also got rid of the subscriptions. I was paying so so much on them after I looked at my list! Ugh that can go for other stuff ❤
Girl, I feel all that! I’m hoping to be more consistent in myself in 2024, I’ve signed back up to the gym after not having the cash for my membership for ‘23 due to living my best life with my Love, but all that took its toll on my body (worth it though!) but would you try sinking funds or something similar? When you spoke about your fiscal goal - maybe try putting away a little cash little and often for the things that you don’t want to completely give up! I have maybe 12 little things that I put money into each payday ranging from car maintenance to holidays and a phone upgrade 🤣 you’d be surprised what you’d have when you want to have a splurge then 😉
Happy New Year🎉! One of my goals for this year is to continue on the journey of reconciliation. I have the book 5 Little Indians-although fiction, it is a powerful rendition of what was experienced by survivors.
I’m hitting the big 30 this year and I am wanting to start to simplify my life and focus on what’s important. Making more quality time with loved ones and focusing on my health. It’s great going on the ride of life with you. Lots of love

This!! Kobo is so good especially for Canadians to borrow library books :) I love mine!
I'm definitely joining "Team Get Presentable" and looking forward to getting a brush to my hair more often 😆
When I notice a negative self talk I just say in my head - no, stop it! Stop attacking her! :)
love this, I will be doing this going forward, we all need to be kinder to ourselves, thank you for sharing!
As a fellow fantasy girl, I reeeeaaaallllyyyy recommend Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. She’s a Native botanist who goes into the science and cultural significance of plants. She’s incredible at weaving storytelling into really informative info.
This book absolutely changed my life. It's the one book I think every single person in the world should read.
@@cleorohn1212 I know right? To Speak for the Trees by Diana Beresford-Kroeger is another good similar one about ancient Celtic knowledge of plants.
Thanks for sharing. I'm a plant lover so I'll be looking forward to reading this!
Added both these recs to my goodreads! Thank you both 😊
Note for Dejan - loved the pop up of Allanas social handles!! Also Lan “motion is lotion” is going to be grilled into my brain now😂👏
It’s 6.35am here in Belgium, doing my makeup before going to work and so happy to see a new video! Happy new year to you two 😊
mobility, stretching and being able to do the splits!!! i can relate to you… those were my goals every year but i REALLY need to act on it and just do it
You go girl!
Thank you for sharing. I’m in overwhelm mode and trying to sort it out. So 2024 is get out of it and baby steps. ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, I really like your goals for 2024 ☺ I srećno sa učenjem srpskog, možeš ti to! 🌼
That said I loved all these nonfiction books recently:
- Vagina Obscura
- Bitch!
- Eve by Cat Bohannon
- The Heat Will Kill You First (not fun but so important)
I like the 'being grateful for GETTING to go to the gym' part. Not just because it's for your own benefit but also cause it's good to be aware of the fact that it is indeed a privilege. I personally would love nothing more than to be in good health and be able to workout. Also, good to hear that you took time to fully rest and recharge. Looking forward to the new videos!
I love that your goals are general motivations rather than numerical goals or specific requirements you want to follow!
Yessss I love that mindset! I’m bedridden (for almost 10 years) and I would give anything to be able to fully work out. One day I’ll get there
I love your language goal!

Praying my rheumatologist gets me back to feeling like my 30’s!
Thanks for keeping me entertained on this freezing Michigan morning.
Yoga with Adriene on TH-cam is great. Loads of different vids for different things and great beginner vids too! I love her x
Love the goals and I feel more related than ever! I joined a sport team in 2023 and it has been a game changer for me because it makes me actually want to train with the goal of performance instead of looks, which feels super rewarding and easy to keep up with!

Moving your body is a gift… thank you for saying that… sometimes I need that reminder ❤
I also have been sick and still not well but I get to lie here and catch up on lanmas. My goals are to get my gut healthy, try to get my social anxiety under control and to try do more. I'm hoping I actually stick to it.
happy new year!! missed you 🤎
You need to read some memoir and a great one to start with is 'I'm Glad my Mom Died' by Jenette McCurdy or even Julia Fox's memoir.
Fitness, stretching, journaling and like you trying new things/improving (I’ve learnt to DJ so improving with that and learning the piano) 🤗
Loved this video!!! reading, getting rid of clutter things that I just don't need and self love
Hi Allana. Great goals, thanks for sharing. For non-fiction, I love getting audiobooks from my local library and listening to them while getting my steps in. Great way to do it for free and if you don’t end up liking it, you didn’t invest anything!
This is such good advice - I agree, nonfiction is SO much easier on audiobook!
welcome back and a happy new year! we missed you :)
speaking of the warmup routine, I like MadFit's workouts, warm ups and cool downs, she is great! :)
btw I love to cook and bake and one of my resolutions is to try a new recipe once a week :)
good luck!
When Breath Becomes Air is one of my all time favorite memoirs and I read a lot of non fiction books. Makes you question your life’s purpose and cry in the process of reading 😭
I love the format/layout of this video. Feels so personal and like we're just hanging out. Also gave me some fun ideas for the year!
Happy New Year Lan, Dejan snd Meowryl 🐱 🎉🎉 I have never in my life gone to bed without a shower and for the life of me I cannot understand why people would only shower in the morning ??. A shower before bed, getting into fresh sheets and using a fresh towel is life 🥰🥰
2 showers a day will change your world 🌍 ❤
Oh my god the 2017 keyboard playing Lan was pure nostalgia 😂 I remembering putting all those notes on mine after you did
I love the Pliability app - makes a huge difference in my mobility and it's a nice thing to do either first thing or before bed.
A mobility room is my dream!! I absolutely love @strengthside here on TH-cam. The “morning stretch routine” is my every day stretch, so much so i have it memorized now 🙊
I’m also a Fantasy Girlie & recently read Fourth Wing series & working my way thru A Court of Thorns & Roses series, to say I’m obsessed is an understatement!!
Happy New Year! ❤
Fantastic start to a new year! Even though I am much older than you, I learn a great deal from watching you. I think you are wise beyond your years. And yes, you will still shop and try new products, however it is great to see you wanting to have more empties 😊
Julia Reppel has amazing mobility routines! I’ve been trying to implement them into my mornings!
I think you might enjoy reading "Cleopatra and Frankenstein". Got me back into reading a lot because its a fun read (its fiction but not fantasy), like watching a series. As for a non-fiction book I really liked "Atomic Habits", its also a great read for the new year! Loved the video!
My goal of 2024: have my diploma at uni, be more responsible w/ money, i hope to have a job, do more sport cause i have time (i'm on holiday), be more careful w/ my skin (wash my brushes, my skincare) 🙄🙄
Beside love the vid, Lana like usual!!!
Allana, totally off topic but read Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski. It is sooo interesting!
Some book suggestions:
Fiction - the three body problem.
I’m focusing on my hobbies this year too, and I’m also re-learning piano!
Love all the inspo! Tysm!! Im an avid reader and at some point I was stuck on thrillers and people killing people 😂😂 I decided to go back to historycal fiction and classics and have been loving that! (You will never find me reading self-improvement, NO! 😅)
Unfortunately I had and still have pneumonia! But getting better!!!
Im glad you mentioned how lucky you are to be able to move your body. At 35 i have a body that does not work and the surgeries seem to never end. So lately I have been finding it hard to watch your videos because they make me feel bad about myself and tje life i want but cannot have. People take health for granted
Looove your goals! I haven't actually sat down to do mine much but I think there are some parallels and HEAVYYY ON NO MORE SELF-DEPRECATING JOKESSS
I love showering in th evening. More sleep and it feels so nice getting into bed clean. Happ you're back!
Peloton Mobility Classes and Stretches! Andy, Adrian and Rebecca
Sent you some of my fav hip mobility over the gram - has been a game changer to avoid knee issues #thisis30
Loved this video sis! Thanks for sharing. Wishing you the best, most fruitful year yet!
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson - good mix of history and gripping true crime about serial killer HH Holmes (the only non fic book I've read that has cliffhangers?!)
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann - timely with the new movie release, tells the story of how the Osage people were used, taken advantage of and murdered by white colonists
Outliers & The Tipping Point, both by Malcolm Gladwell - a deep dive into the factors that make people successful, and the moment when an idea/social construct/trend spreads throughout society, respectively (highly recommend the audio books specifically as Gladwell reads them himself and it sounds very conversational. Very easy to listen to and it goes by fast)
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy - an honest bio of growing up a child star and suffering abuse at the hands of your mother (she also reads her own audiobook)
The Divorce Colony by April White - an interesting look into a very specific period of time in a small town in South Dakota where the divorce laws for women were the most lax in the entire country. This led to the town earning it's name as the Divorce Colony as women flocked there to be able to gain independence
The Immortal Life of Henriette Lacks by Rebecca Skloot - an absolutely fascinating look at the history of HeLa cells, the impact they've had on science, and the complete injustice that was done to Henrietta Lacks and generations of her family by using her cells without explicit permission and compensation
Allana, thank you for this notion of positive reinforcement on going to the gym, it is a privilege to have this body xo
Good luck with all of your goals for the year Allana!!
Love the mobility room! And I think your goals seem doable!
You definitely need to get working on that Serbian though, definitely don’t want to be left out😂
When it comes to non fiction books, I read a lot of memoirs and a lot of books about Native Americans and the Japanese culture especially Geisha.
But showering twice a day? Its suuuuch a water waste 🙈 - sometimes I shower every other day (cleaning needed areas by hand) but maybe it is a European thing?
I've missed you!!!!
Thank you Allana for this new video, and very happy new year to you !
You DINKs you, a home gym and a stretching room 😍😍😍 what a dream!!
Julia Reppel has incredible mobility follow-along videos here on TH-cam! From warm ups to work-outs to cool downs. She is amazing! Highly recommend.
some fun nonfiction books i love as a fantasy lover: I'm Glad My Mom Died, The Glass Castle, Becoming, Dare to Lead, and the Confidence Code!
My fav non-fiction books: 1. The Nature Fix by Florence Williams 2. Storyteller by Dave Grohl.
Also, does your public library have loans for Ebooks? I know ours does in Manitoba and it’s awesome because you don’t need to spend money on books!
I can't recommend Shona Vertue enough for mobility, yoga, stretching, fitness and her podcast ( The Vertue Podcast) ♥
Where are these coffee mugs from please? They’re so cute 🤩😍 Do you have a link by any chance? Thanks so much Allana 🤍
I broke my tail bone 2weeks ago and I got fired because of my ingury😢
ooo welcome to the evening shower life, Lana! leaves so much more time for a skin and body pamper 🥰
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
I have the same room - which is currently a dumping ground too LOL. It was going to be an office, but I don't like working in there!
15:38 WOW! Your eye makeup is stunning!
I have maybe 12 little things that I put money into each payday ranging from car maintenance to holidays and a phone upgrade 🤣 you’d be surprised what you’d have when you want to have a splurge then 😉
I’ve missed your videos since Lanmas!! ❤
Happy New Year🎉! One of my goals for this year is to continue on the journey of reconciliation. I have the book 5 Little Indians-although fiction, it is a powerful rendition of what was experienced by survivors.
I pay $120 a year for kindle unlimited and have yet to run out of amazing books. I read 100 last year and like 90 the year before! Highly recommend
