Hello Chuck Lakes, to activate the backlight while underwater, simply press and hold the button for 2-3 seconds. This will activate the backlight on the computer.
This is great! Thank you! So to “start” a dive do you just jump in the water with it? I’ve never used a dive computer before, even in training. We always used tables instead.
Thank you for the video. My husband just bought me Mares Puck Pro and trying to set it up reading the little manual gets confusing. This took the confusion out of it. Thank you
I recently purchased the puck pro and a transmitter. I do like what I see the problem I'm having is I don't know how to pair them. The manual doesn't say any ideas would be great
Hello @schplouschm2764, sorry to hear that you are having issues with the PC Ready function on your Puck Pro. I would take it by your local Mares technician center to see if they can fix the issue. If this is not possible, they may be able to send it back for repair or replacement if it is still under warranty.
Thank you for this video! I recently purchased the Puck Pro and your video was so very helpful. Question, I set the date in the month/day/year format but when I scroll through my dive log it appears in day/month/year format. Is there a way to change that?
Glad you liked the video @colettie140. Depending on which setting you have the computer in, the date will appear in different formats. If you are using it in metric, it will appear as day, month, year. If you have it set to imperial, it will appear as month, day, year. You can tell by the first number you set as well. If it goes past 12 as you are scrolling through the numbers you know that you have it set to metric. If the first number cycles back 1 after you go past the number 12, then you know it is in imperial. Hope this helps.
I’m a little late finding this video but I was curious how you record dives from this computer onto your phone. I know you mentioned it briefly, is it another device I would have to buy? Thanks for your time
Hello @nekoizmase9, this would be a great first time dive computer. Even the newer version, which is the Puck 4 would be a great option as well. Both are user friendly, which means you can change the battery in them without the need for a technician.
Thank you. Helpful video. One question: in the log mode, middle screen that shows the dive data, to the left of the no deco time, what does the number to the left signify...for example 53ft min? Thank you
Hello BLD Dive, that would be the maximum ascent rate hit during the dive. Anytime you here the computer beep on the way up, it is registering a faster than normal ascent rate. It simply logs that for you.
great video - much appreciated. you show how to use it in simple terms! with this or the + version - can you plan the dive on the PC and then upload it to the pro or pro +?
@@vincevanderpol5225 Hello Vince can Pol, the Mares Puck and Puck Pro are both preset in the Dive / Pre-Dive mode. Once a depth of 4 feet has been reached they will immediately start calculating a dive. Sometimes the manuals for Mares are shared between models. The Puck series are a no thrills no hassle computer system, this no need to put them in Pre-Dive.
You're welcome. In regards to the two different models, the Puck Pro + is an update version of the Puck Pro. Cosmetically there is not that much difference, other than wording to make it easier to read and understand what you are seeing on screen. The other major difference is the capability of using the Blue Link to download your dives. The Puck Pro + allows you to connect your dive computer via the Blue Link directly to the myssi app, to where the standard Puck Pro does not.
I used my computer without reading any constructions. Will there be a record of my dive, even though I didn’t set it up? I played with the buttons. We have to show proof of dive next week, & we didn’t get the dive shop stamp. I’m hoping the computer is enough proof, or photos of the dive?
Hello @coopercramer4511, I am assuming you mean Nitrox mode as the Puck Pro will only calculate Air and Nitrox, no other gas mixture. There are two ways to switch it back into Air mode after making a Nitrox dive. The first method is to leave it in Nitrox mode and simply change your mix to 21%. The second method takes 24 hours to complete its cycle. After a 24 hour time period, the computer unlocks and allows you to put it back into Air mode. Hope this helps.

In this video I am wearing the Mares Smart (Pro Version). I am the type of guy that wears a watch every single day, so I prefer it over the Mares Puck Pro. It has two buttons compared to just one like on the Mares Puck Pro. This helps because it acts as a back up button in case you go past the screen you need, you don't have to scroll all the way through. The only down side is the screen size. It may not be best for someone who needs a larger screen. For we though, I have 20/20 vision, so it works great.
Hello Siena McKim. If the computer is stuck in bottom timer mode, it may be a firmware issue. Take it to your local Mares dealer and let a technician look at it.
Simply download the MYSSI app from the app store. Then you will need to create you an account with SSI. Both are Free. You can use our link here to get started. lakehickoryscuba.com/, on the main page you will see a little block that says register with SSI. Click it, fill in the blanks, and you will get a log on. Use the log on to log on to the app. Then you can use the log book feature to download your dives.
Great video and perfectly explained. Thank you. We just got a couple for our marine team at work. Nice to know there’s a ‘bottom timer’ option too so more than one diver can use it. Thank you 👌🏽 💦
Once you’re done setting it up before a dive, can you manually turn it off until you get in the water so you conserve some battery or does it have turn off by itself?
Hello Mohanad Hasona, most computers by nature will have a sleep mode built in. This computer specifically will go to sleep after a few minutes of no operation, or if the ambient pressure remains constant at 14.7 psi. The only exception is after a dive, any residual nitrogen calculated with in a dive profile will keep the computer on for a minimum of 24 hours.
Thank you very much for posting this! Your explanations are so much better than the instruction book!
You are welcome ernest robbins, glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful.
I set the light to 10 like you suggested...when and how does the backlight engage? Thank you and love the tutorial.
Hello Chuck Lakes, to activate the backlight while underwater, simply press and hold the button for 2-3 seconds. This will activate the backlight on the computer.
May you please tell me, what watch are wearing?
Hello Artur Oborski. In this video, I am wearing the Mares Smart Air Dive Computer.
This is great! Thank you! So to “start” a dive do you just jump in the water with it? I’ve never used a dive computer before, even in training. We always used tables instead.
That is correct Savannah Heath, the Puck Pro Computer will immediately start calculating the dive once you have reached a depth of 4 feet.

Great video run-through. So much clearer than the printed manual :-)
Glad you liked the video and found it helpful @janelleorth8775.
Hello I would really appreciate if you were able to do a video explaining the log menu of the Mares Puck Pro.
Hello Djinn1962, we will see if we can get a video made for you.
Just QUit trying to educate
I recently purchased the puck pro and a transmitter. I do like what I see the problem I'm having is I don't know how to pair them. The manual doesn't say any ideas would be great
Hello Leann Simmons. The Puck Pro is a non air integrated model, so the transmitter will not work with it.
Thanks so much gives me time to exchange it before our trip in February. You saved me thanks again.
Thank you, seems easy enough,... but at 15' is there a "Safety Stop" 3:00 min count down timer?
Hello mockingbirdave, yes there is a 3.00 count down timer, or safety stop clock built in.
Thanks is there a 3 minute safety stop timer
Hello Jerry Craft, there is. At the end of each dive, as you ascend, it begins a count down as long as you stay between 10feet and 20 feet.
@@LakeHickoryScuba thanks

Hello Betina D. J. , the Mares Puck is always in Dive mode. No Pre-Dive needed.
