Very well presented unboxing of this pair of boots. All the product features covered well giving the viewer a " feel " of the boots.Thank you for a good video. 😊
I ordered a pair of these as 'size check' before ordering a pair of big cambo premier build boots. The size was correct, but like you mentioned the heel slip was atrocious out of the box. Russel says that the strap is, as you said, for tightening down the instep. Supposedly to lock your heel into the counter, but either my test pair was odd or my feet have dainty insteps, thus the strap didn't have enough adjustability. Even at the smallest adjustment the boots were very loose. I also found the heel counter to be very tight side to side, borderline painfully pinching my feet. Needless to say, the boots did not give a very good fist impression other than the build and leather quality. That said, they sat boxed up in my car's trunk for a couple days in very warm weather before I managed to return/exchange them. Right before shipping them back, I decided to try them once more but this time stuffing my fist into the heel counter to spread it a little bit. That spreading, along with the heat from days in a warm car, made them fit so much better it was like night and day. The heel slip almost completely disappeared. They very nearly felt like a pair of boots I'd been wearing for years. I was actually sad to have to return them, but I'm eagerly awaiting my big cambos now. Perhaps I'll keep these in mind for another time. I have some ideas to modify the strap to help take up some of that extra volume.
I think the pattern would look a lot better if the shaft was one piece, without that seam in the front. I also think I'd prefer them without the strap. I'd be interested to see if you could get them on without unzipping them, because then the zipper could also be done away with.
@@noone3734 have a pair! The heal is a bit loose. Nowhere as loose as my Rancourts. On the up side, it does give them a slipper feel. I even call them my work slippers!
I heard Russel Moccasin has a new owner. In most cases I've seen quality went down when they change owners.. Sadly this even applies to reputable boot companies like Nicks or RM Williams. I would be really sad if Russel Moccasin go down that path too. It is such a legendary Moctoe producer after all.
I've got both , a older pair of the ORIGINAL run of the waxed flesh plain toe 79 last Trumans and a 10 year old pair of zephyr boots . While I adore the Trumans these Zephyrs are ain't a league of their own. Definitely worth every penny.

These are such great boots, I’m glad you got a pair!
I hope you’re well, my friend.
@@CarlMurawski thank you. I didn’t chop the toe off though….😂😂😂
This video convinced me to pull the trigger on this exact model. Waiting excitedly for them to arrive. Thanks for the review!

Beautiful 😍
Are those the black cxl in the background when you're trying these on?
I can’t remember what I had in but they were either the Parkhurst Brown Waxed Flesh or Parkhurst Maryam Veg Tan
@@Bootlosophy thanks, are you going to look at Bekket Simmons?

@@noone3734 no, too long in the shaft
The 2024 Zephyr is better than the old ones. The addition of the heal counter makes a difference. With that said I'm really enjoying mine
You have experience with a pair without heel counters?

@@ml8067 Oh nice, I've always wondered what boot with no counter would end up like.
Love mine without the counter . Almost feel like heavy( leather) socks with a sole !
Good to know I have the 23 version and it's pretty nice

Dang those are nice but out of my budget (for now), really a toss up between these and Truman's.
