    I've been watching the Sienci Alt CNC router videos. The speeds are very impressive. I was surprised seeing that small tool doing the 3d cuts at such high feed rates and cut depths. It's like there was no need to do a roughing cut. But how it cut aluminum was really impressive. I would expect that type of performance from a rigid frame CNC machining center, but not a router. That was truly amazing.

    The alum. carving/machining was stunning. This machine could make high grade intrument cluster bezels, switch surrounds, and engraved tags for custom shops and fabricate/copy existing parts no longer avail at costs that will be unbeatable. For auto restorers and builders with a 4'X4' capacity parts that are unreplacable i.e. handles and various parts and trim could be reproduced/matched then hand finished surfaces and then plated or painted for under $5K on your floor what's not to like!! Love your expert commentary of factory footage it's invaluable great job THANKS for your candid remarks and estimates of speeds. Very compelling. Ray Stormont

      Peter, a friend of mine who's been doing CNC work for over 25 years - and has plenty of experience - advised me to get my bits through kijiji, where many metal milling companies sell their tooling which is no longer sharp enough for their needs, but is still perfectly good for milling wood. Just a thought...

    Nice video Garrett, in your view the performance between your 4x4 and the alt mill 4x4 which would you say is better? Well except that you have a vacuum table. Except that feature.

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      dwaynejohnson7499, thanks for watching! In terms of performance, both the 4x4 and the Alt Mill 4x4 are great machines with their own strengths. The Alt Mill 4x4 has its advantages, but I still love both my machines for its reliability and precision.

  • @TheSegWayne
    @TheSegWayne 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi Garrett, I'm confused. I am a Onefinity user but I'm looking for something larger. You said in this video that the Altmill is a 4x4 table, which is larger, but several of your video snippets clearly show a much larger (4x8?) Altmill, which for me, would be an instant sell to me (once my Onefinity gets sold that is)

    • @johnread7404
      @johnread7404 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheSegWayne It's not showing a 4 x 8 machine, they are showing a 4 x4 machine with a 4 x 8 sheet being tiled on it. That's where you can pass the sheet through using multiple cuts and indexing.

    • @TheSegWayne
      @TheSegWayne 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnread7404 I will have to go back and watch it again, but on the third watch, I was trying to pay very close attention to it and would have sworn to you that it had the metal rails all the way down the sheet.
      If not, that's a pity. Yes, 4x4 would be an upgrade from my 32x48 Onefinity Journeyman, and yes, it's cheaper than the Elite Foreman (also a 4x4 platform) but if I'm going to spend the money, I'd rather be able to process a full sheet for cabinetry without tiling and all the headaches that brings..
      I know, it's very "Veruca Salt" (Willy Wonka) of me, but hey. Money these days is tight..

    • @TheSegWayne
      @TheSegWayne 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fourth viewing, I see it now. The idea that it was a 4x8 was an optical illusion apparently...

    im still waiting for them to acknawlage the warped Y axis rails that came from the factory on my Longmill before I give them another penny. Since day 1 couldn't get a 30 inch Y cut within 2mm. Surfacing even shows the dip. Their response was instead of selling (yes I even offered to pay for the rails) was to buy and entire new kit. They REFFUSED to even sell me new rails that sould be WARRENTIED! Deplorable gaslighting company! Best I can tell is in Shipping the courrier must have placed a several hundred pound object laying across the box. Either way they should at least sell a replacement for the damaged part. But their response is literally throw out the BRAND NEW part and discard the entire kit and simply rebuy the whole thing again! FK those guys

    Impressive speed. Is that real? Is that an everyday thing? In a screwed together aluminum desktop machine? Do I believe my lying eyes?
    It looks like FUD has hit the desktop CNC world! Fear, Unease and Doubt. Are your going to buy a Shapeoko 5 Pro, or and X-Carve Pro or a OneFinity Journeyman Elite or a CNC4Newbie or any other desktop 4 x 4 after seeing this? I wonder. AVID makes all kinds of noise about how robust their machines are. But who cares if the AltMill cuts 3/4 ply at 200ipm in one pass? That's all the "robust" I'll ever need. And closer to home it looks dumb to buy a LongMill right now because the price difference is not great enough.
    There's only one other desktop that can do that that I know of. The iR2 can do it and you can see it demo'd at ToolsToday. But it's a 2x4 and costs $10,000!
    Looks like the only kit that stands a chance is the Bulkman Ultimate Bee. The Bee can be spec'd out to be essentially the same thing for a little over $2000 delivered. But it uses 80/20 extrusions and I don't see how it could be pushed like this.
    One thing mystifies me though. Where's the 2x4? To me it seems dumb not to offer it and offer it RIGHT NOW! And it seems especially dumb since anybody ordering today won't take delivery probably until November. You're telling me you can't cut 2 feet off the Y axis between now and November? Dude, I may have been born at night, but not LAST night! Or do you WANT people with limited space to go ahead and buy the 2x4 shapeoko?

    • @IDCWoodcraft
      @IDCWoodcraft  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      frankshannon3235, Thanks for watching! The speed showcased in the video is real and achievable with the right setup. AVID CNC machines are known for their robustness and precision but selecting the right desktop CNC ultimately depends on your specific needs and budget. The Bulkman Ultimate Bee offers a customizable option at a competitive price point, delivering good performance for its value. Consider your workspace limitations and the material sizes you typically work with when choosing a CNC machine. I have a video that should really help you narrow down your CNC choice. It will really help you determine what to look for when buying a CNC. Here is a link: th-cam.com/video/wLVNF0L-ZdU/w-d-xo.html
