  • I visited 3 Bricks & Minifigs stores hunting for retired and rare LEGO. I saw some sets priced at $1000 and even a single mini figure priced at close to $450. I did buy a retried LEGO set for my collection.

    I never was a Lego person until Loca Bricks. Thanks to you, I just got a 2nd set and am eager to build. My first build was the rose bouquet which was a Mother's day present for the lovely wife. She now has year-round roses that don't need water!

    As a wee child, I was lucky enough to visit the original Legoland in Denmark a few times, shortly after it first opened . . . to me, the highlight of the park was the first version of the park's 'Traffic School', a series of grid-patterned streets, complete with traffic signals, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
    Electric cars, similar in size to Autopias, were driven by kids; each child was required to apply for a Legoland driver license and required to carry it while operating a 'motor vehicle' and obey all 'traffic laws' . . . the early cars had a bug in them . . . if the child drove aggressively or weighed more than 5 ounces, the car battery would deplete before the session ended . . . the streets were overseen by employees who were on an elevated glassed-in platform . . . when my car's battery failed, an employee attempted to instruct me to exit the car and check out another car . . . the announcement was in every language imaginable . . . German, French, Dutch, and so on . . . finally, they spoke to me in English and I switched cars, but by that time, the ride was almost over.
    HOWEVER, I was given a free pass for the next session . . . SCORE!
    Your episodes bring back fond memories . . . thank you!

    It's so much fun watching you go from on LEGO store to another. It's also quite informative learning about the different LEGO sets and pieces. I'm starting to get an understanding of why my grandson and son-in-law love building the sets. I'm looking forward to your next video.

    Great video! I live around the area too so this video was greatly appreciated. Not in a bad way at all, but if you could maybe go a tiny bit slower through the minifigs and show off some of the pricing. I know this would take forever so I get it if not. Just go section by section steadily! Always like seeing if I should make the trip if there’s something fairly priced I want/need! Again thanks for sharing the video

    Thanks for bringing us along on the hunt! Yesterday I saw that my local Petco is selling small LEGO sets. It was mostly the 3 in 1 animal sets, but they had a couple others that I think must have been related to pets. :D I also learned that a LEGO store was opened within walking distance of where I work and now I'm fighting the urge to visit it. LOL.

    When I retired two and a half years ago I started buying up all of the modulars I could get but anything $600 and up I passed on. Just wasn't willing to go in that price range. Also I've bought pretty much everything Harry Potter, Star wars, lots of city sets, and specialty sets like Pac-Man, Atari, NASA etc. Recently I've created a Lego room with all the modulars, avengers tower, daily bugle and haunted house. Building MosEisley at the moment. I'm trying to catch up on the back log but have about 300 sets or more to do. Still wish I had those old modulars like that brick bank.😢

    I’m a train fan but not sure about any of these. I really like the Mikado but don’t feel a single engine would win. With the Old West Train in series 4 I doubt they’d do another set in series 5. My best guess from these would be the toy train based on being unique. Appreciate your breakdowns of these.

    I have all of the modulars except Cafe Corner and Green Grocer, and the prices for those at Bricks & Minifigs explains why I don't have them. All of mine were bought through LEGO when they were available at the time. I've also added Light My Bricks light kits to them all.

    • @locabricks
      @locabricks  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are the light kits difficult to add on after the fact?

    • @dvandkq
      @dvandkq หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@locabricks The instructions always start with a completed set, so I think it would be very difficult to merge the initial build process with the light installation.
      At first you'll squirm when bending baseplates and squeezing wires between bricks, but you'll eventually get used to it.
      There are several different companies that sell light kits. I've used Lightailing, Bricksmax, and Light My Bricks.
      Light My Bricks uses individual wires and lighting components, so if you break one wire, the entire kit isn't ruined.
