At first I was disappointed it wasn't a 6, but I have to appreciate the hustle. PSN exclusivity on 5US/es got Sony to foot the bill for the funding, which was a masterstroke.
This song had taken real-estate in my head. Love it. All I know is "Burning soul" then I say some random stuff in the same melody, lol.
Yeah, it's kinda odd. At first, I found this song silly/terrible, and I was listening it only to mocking it, but now it kinda grew on me, then I listened the japanese version and it's even better.

On one hand, we finally have Rollback Netcode. On the other hand, VF5 IS ALMOST 20 YEARS OLD.
I love VF5, don't get me wrong. I LOVE it, I love this entire series. However, we have to move on at some point. We practically missed BOTH fighting game renaissances.
I love Virtua Fighter. It and Soul Calibur are the best 3D fighters imo.
But I can't buy VF5 again. We need a new entry. I want to support this to get a future release, I really do, but it'll probably just be another VF5 in 8k/120 fps 10 years from now.
They've talked about VF6 on multiple occasions and reputable leakers have confirmed it is in the works. This just feels like an extra release to help spread VF to more platforms and also test out networking things like rollback out. This is only a positive for the fans. Every franchise has to end eventually and so even if VF6 wasn't already in the works (and it is) it is totally fine to just port existing titles to more platforms.
VF5 final showdown 2 years ago on PS and then now a new update and a Steam version show there is a market for VF. It's slow, but it goes the way to VF6.

Sega's inability to count to 6 is frustrating. But any VF is good VF, so I'll take it.
Capcom did it to Streetfighter 2 for years. When it finally went to 3, no one gave a sh*t.
Eventough is just a fighting games, It's not easy to develop a new sequel. They have to bring a new mechanic to make it different than VF5. All they did in this revo just an updated graphic, somew new character or costume maybe. It will be much easier and faster rather than developing a new sequel. Or maybe this is just a kickstart before VF6, they just want to hear a feedback from fans and of course they needed a fast money 😂

I played the original games on my Sega Saturn as a kid and seeing virtua fighter coming back brings tears to my eyes.
The wait til the 27th is goddamn unbearable! A 5 day playtest is so cruel! I've gone back to Fighters Megamix on my Saturn and VF5:FS, but they're just not the same without actual people to play against. Been a massive, MASSIVE fan of VF since the very first one. I got my Sega Saturn in 1995 shortly after the surprise launch specifically for VF. Not VF2, VF*1*. I was so into this all the way back then. Used to hang out on compuserve Go Sega and print out reems, and reems, and reems of FAQS on people. Good god I love VF so much, the absolute best fighting game series of all time. And I say that as someone who LOVES fighting games more than any other genre.

@@sadetwizelveno it's not. The models look worse to me and Final Showdown had some stages that were done a bit better and different hit effects( Vf5 and Vf5 fs have different hit sounds)

What I like about it is that Sega has kept the fighting real by using real martial arts in the game. No fake fighting like we see in fighting games these days. Thumbs up to Sega 👍🏽
From porting the arcade version in a lot of Dragon Engine Yakuza games to actually making a new version of 5 AND the ones in charge for 6. Good job, RGG Studios.

The PS4 version is getting the balance update so there's nothing that would stop it, necessarily. The PS4 version would have to be retrofitted with some kind of cross-platform account system to make it work, though.

Maybe if this version sells X million copies. Which it most likely won't because it's a re-re-re-release. New audiences will be into this for two weeks and then it's back to just the few dozen VF hardcores that are still out there.

can't wait! As a massive fighting game enthusiast, VF is the last remaining legendary fighting series I haven't learned to play properly as I only have PC and it's never been widely available for modern online play. Been waiting for this since VF5 Final was a thing.
