I'm 56 and a fourth generation san diego native "
And an MTS Trolley operations employee for so long it is time to retire....33 years of seeing it all .
My life at MTS can be a book.
San Diego is the best California city!! Been there back in early May as part of our LA trip!!
Great work !Being a Houstonian and living in San Diego for 30 yrs San Diego has a great transit and lightrail syste. Hope Houston can exapnd lightrail around the city it would be so much better. Wish there was a rail commuter train too like the coaster even something going north and west to DFW and Austin. I know they are talking about a high speed train i really dont think high speed is needed.
San Diego convention center home of largest comic-con convention in the world. International Comic-Con.
Started today. My girlfriend and I took the Green LIne from LIttle Italy to the Convention Center, and man, was it packed!
19:04 is it me or everyone else saw this?
LOL! Good catch. The gate arm rest is on top of the SUV.
Great video!! I really like this video:))!! I also enjoy the trolley system in San Diego and how good it is. Hope you enjoyed the full ride. My favorite line is the Blue Line between the 3 regular lines in San Diego.
Thanks! I really enjoyed the ride. The Trolley great and efficient, no wonder it is the most highly used light rail trains in North America.
@@HOUExplorer Yup!! I ride the LA Metro more because I'm from the LA Area. I mainly ride the C Line in LA.
Great videos HOUExplorer! If you TH-cam "Lightrail in Mendoza, Argentina" you can see some of SD's old school trolleys in action now servicing cities in South America.
Interesting! I will check it out. Thanks for sharing more info about the old school trolleys.

Error at 19:43 you were crossing under Interstate 8 not SR-52
What's up and Happy Saturday, man! At 1:24, it's really nice to see the older 1993-96 Siemens SD100 trolley. Unfortunately, most of those cars are starting to get retired and starting to get scrapped soon. Hopefully you can try to catch one and ride the older trains because they really do look historic.
Happy Saturday! I wished the older trains were running but I think they run on holidays only.
@@HOUExplorerI wonder if they will run on Memorial Day
It's feels weird how the San Diego trolley runs for miles on it's own tracks through Mission Valley and just before santee it spills out onto a busy road and runs down the road along side traffic.....and waits for traffic Lights
Apart from the downtown stops, the end of the line in Santee is the only other sport I think it has to sit waiting for traffic.
As per California law, LRVs have to follow traffic laws when on street level. Just like the buses.
what are the stop announcement jingles at 3:03 called?
This video will be dated soon. MTS has approved discontinuing Green line service all the way to Santee effective in September 2024. A new Copper line will provide service from El Cajon to Santee. This is an effort to improve the on-time performance of the Green line. And a new infill station is being planned between Morena/Linda Vista and Fashion Valley stations near 22:50, in the area where a TOD is currently under construction. It is expected that Green line frequency will be increased about that time as well.
Did you also record the blue line and its new segment?
You mean the UCSD segment? If so, yes.
52:00 potential site for infill station that can get good ridership on Orange and Green Lines because of Grossmont High School right there
Highly unlikely
@@anonymoussdmtsemployee7770 Why unlikely? On school days the station might have higher ridership due to a lot of students that are ineligible to drive without their parents
