You enter the plague zone... Dark, silent, empty flats, some burning corpses in the corner, and this music playing... This mission had such an amazing climate.
The part about Moridin that I found the most interesting is that when he was talking about the work he did on the genophage, he always sounded like he was trying to convince HIMSELF that he did the right thing.
There was no pause. He kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had the chance to interrupt him, it was really quite hypnotic.
Mass Effect 2 was the best game in the series, if for no other reason, the musical overtures that were character-specific. I think my favorite ones are this and Samara's.
I only finished the trilogy for the first time 3 weeks ago, I love Mass Effect 2 and its soundtrack, each music is perfect for its character, and Tali's theme, Samara's one and Thane's one are amazing, like the romance theme and the suicide mission music. But I still prefer ME3 soundtrack because every music in the last game is just as beautiful as epic, and have such an awesome emotional power. But even if most people consider the second game as the best of the trilogy and I consider the third as the best, I think we can agree on the fact that whole trilogy is insane and has a very good soundtrack. Personally I've never played better games....
@@heomji7216 Indeed, I still quite enjoyed the series as a whole myself. I hope it's not dead yet. I enjoyed Andromeda myself, yes the product was launched prematurely without enough testing, but after a couple weeks they fixed most of the problems.
"Right choice. Still... hard to sleep some nights." Entirely pragmatic, but not entirely detached and never needlessly cruel, even when doing horrible things. Great character.
The Omega missions are most memorable to me since I did them first on my first ever playthrough, although I can't quite remember which order I did them in. I love the Mordin recruitment mission the most for the atmosphere and enjoyed this music track.
Shepard: Take a good long look at me. Do I look like a looter? Guard: Uh, no. Shepard: That’s right. Now, I’m going in. If I find looters, I’ll kill them. Anybody gets in my way, I’ll kill them, too.
@Redzephyr1 I think it's because the devs took into account that he is really REALLY old for a Salarian and is foremost a doctor, meaning that in all out combat situations, he can't take hits like others can. Tali has a high chance of dieing, too so I really do think that devs decided that the two techies on your team aren't that great in a war of attrition.
Omg I just realized that Mordin's them plays again during the point when he goes into the Shroud Spire to dispense the cure. I never realized that until now and it just proves that this series is great with all the little details like this in plain sight. I hope you're getting excellent data from those sea shells in the greater cosmos, Mordin, because you gave a future to the krogan
Fighting those Vorchas and Krogans on insanity in the backroom where you gotta turn the fans off on each side, specially to this music.... fucking epic. Even more epic when you do it as a Vanguard. The adrenaline gets pumping! =)
Gah I love Mordin. He's just so awesome. His loyalty mission was extremely cool too, and he had all those epic, philosophical lines. I think he's possibly the deepest character in the game. "Pointless... Pointless waste of life..."
The first half sounds like something straight from Blade Runner. During Mordin's recruiting mission (and more generally every time I was on Omega) I couldn't stop thinking about that movie lol.
Mordin is just... so utterly hilarious. Yet at the same time, he's got a very interesting character, personality, and background. Bioware did a brilliant job with him, he's my favourite character.
Mordin! I always had a hard time keeping up with your dialogue but your the funniest alien on the crew, hell even funnier than the humans. Keep Mordin for Mass Effect 3, I deman it!
When I hear this theme, all I can see is a group sitting at a round table, ready to discuss a weighty issue that needs to be addressed. The most brilliant minds in the galaxy are gathered. Sacrifices need to be made for the greater good. The debate begins to escalate. Differing opinions on what is ethical and what is going too far spring up. They are silenced by tolling bells. Second-guessing is over. It's time to get to work. No matter their personal beliefs, they must do what must be done.
@CliffDiverBOA Yeah, he just flies through the turian ships...and he only died because his gambit with Saren didn't pay off in the end, and he had to take over Saren's body. With the feedback from his death, Sovereigns shields didn't hold up much longer, and he became vulnerable. If he hadn't to take over Saren, his shield would've stood much longer, and instead of just 8 Alliance ships, there would've been far more losses on the human side.
Mordin...I don't always agree with your actions but I can't argue with your thought process. He is the poster boy scientific process has been craving. Wish more of my colleagues knew about him.
I love how companions in ME2 comment on whatever ability they are using. And Mordin's ''Flammable. Or Inflammable ? Forget which. Doesn't matter. '' is the best one.
For me, it's about walking in streets, among the dead, the abandonned peoples. Those who have been reject by everyone, and ultimately die alone, without any condolence.
This song absolutely nails the lonely deep space exploration feel, at least I would assume it does. Distant strange worlds, massive stars forming solar systems with the most peculiar forms of life, solitude, thirst for knowledge, first contact, ancient mysterious cultures. It's all there!
I am the very model of a scientist Salarian, I study species Turian, Asari and Batarian. I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) Because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology). My xeno-science studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist Salarian!
This song really sums up Mordin, I mean i guess in the big scheme of things he's a good guy, but there's the galactc impact that is the genophage hanging over his head as well as all the other choices he's had to make. He's a pretty conflicted character and this song pretty much captures that. I just remember during his loyalty mission him talking to me with this song playing and saying all these huge memorable lines. That's when it hit me, Mass effect is in its own league.
@CliffDiverBOA Not a bad idea, and definitely one to hope for. The allies you should get (I believe) are: The Citadel fleets, for saving the council; the cured Krogan unified under Wrex; the Quarians and Geth; the Rachni; the Alliance (obviously); and maybe some from the Terminus under Aria. I can hope! P.S. In Legion's loyalty mission, you can stop the heretics from worshipping the Reapers, but you can't take control of them. They just return to the main Geth faction.
@BackhandTrebond No actually what I think will happen is that the Geth will just hand over the homeworld to the Quarians (remember Legion's loyalty mission, you can make all the Geth turn to our will). Then the Geth and the Quarians will join us in the final fight and then if the Quarians are still alive (I hope they are!) they can go back to the homeworld and the Geth can go somewhere else, or coexist on the homeworld.
2:40 through 3:24 is my favorite background music! You hear it a few times, but I always remember it being on the way to the hospital on Tuchanka for Mordin's loyalty misson.
@CliffDiverBOA Gathering fleets= great idea Taking the biggest fleet in the galaxy in the opposite direction of the enemy and pitting it against the second biggest fleet (the Geth) far away from Earth= handing over Earth on a silver platter, possibly with some tastful decoration.
@CliffDiverBOA ME3 will probably also pull a Fable 3 and have you upgrade not only the other ships but earths defenses as well. Prepare for more probing lol.
@Gunganbuster We also know about Joker's debilitating bone disorder...unless that's just a cover... It could be Jack, but I think it's clear the butler did it. Or the..uhh....errr...AI?
@Draugoul Actually according to the Online Slang Dictionary: A Ho is defined as a "floozy, a prostitute" However in addition a Ho can also be "someone who dresses or acts like a *floozy*, can be used teasingly."

@Rykanable Hmmm, that changes some of my view. Still the Normandy SR2 has anti-reaper technologies built into it so it may be able to even up the fight against the reapers. Maybe it takes down their shields or something. I CAN'T LIVE WITH A SAD ENDING I NEED TO LIVE!!!!!!
Omega is just one big Blade Runner homage. It's like BioWare made the place just to tell people "Yeah, we love Blade Runner!" This track is about a Vangelis as they come.
Does anyone know if the ambient music that plays right at the beginning of Mordin's recruitment mission is on TH-cam anywhere? It also plays during the "labs" section of his loyalty mission too. When he talks about his work on the Genophage. I can't seem to find it anywhere and I always liked that more. It's one of the best tracks in ME2.
You enter the plague zone... Dark, silent, empty flats, some burning corpses in the corner, and this music playing... This mission had such an amazing climate.
Not to mention the battle music when you're under fire by rockets and Krogan charging
The part about Moridin that I found the most interesting is that when he was talking about the work he did on the genophage, he always sounded like he was trying to convince HIMSELF that he did the right thing.
He basically is. And this song represents his inner conflicts and denial.
He is the very model of a scientist Salarian.
roadhouse699 He's studied species turian, asari and batarian!
Tell them... I held the line.
There was no pause. He kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had the chance to interrupt him, it was really quite hypnotic.
I love the first minute or so of this soundtrack. It sounds like it came straight out of Blade Runner - or at least it fits that movie's atmosphere.
Mass Effect 2 was the best game in the series, if for no other reason, the musical overtures that were character-specific. I think my favorite ones are this and Samara's.

The Omega missions are most memorable to me since I did them first on my first ever playthrough, although I can't quite remember which order I did them in. I love the Mordin recruitment mission the most for the atmosphere and enjoyed this music track.
This melody has a sick felling, like the diseases Mordin knows all about.
Márcio de Moraes The diseases that he can not hide from.
This music is like the sound of guilt for having a hand in something horrible.
Shepard: Take a good long look at me. Do I look like a looter?
Guard: Uh, no.
Shepard: That’s right. Now, I’m going in. If I find looters, I’ll kill them. Anybody gets in my way, I’ll kill them, too.
Badass
@@212th you don't have a grenade launcher lady, get lost
Shepard could eat Ryder for breakfast, shit him out, then feed the shit to his pet space hamster.

Best written/acted character in a trilogy full of the greatest VG characters ever. His loyalty mission makes me tear up every time.

Fun fact, Solus is latin for 'alone,'

Cannot imagine the plagued zone of Omega with a more fitting theme than this; just perfect.
*is* the best game in the series
"Would have liked to run tests on the seashells."
"I MADE A MISTAKE!"
The very model of a scientist Salarian, indeed...
Gah I love Mordin. He's just so awesome. His loyalty mission was extremely cool too, and he had all those epic, philosophical lines. I think he's possibly the deepest character in the game.

Easily the most memorable track in the ME2 OST.
This fight as the fans start up was an awesome gaming moment.
The slums of Omega..
Of all the character themes in mass effect, this is the only one i truly remembered.
Incredible
This is my favourite song in the ME2 OST, feels very science fiction, and fits Mordin very well. Awesome song indeed.
Ahh, this brings back memories. Playing the mass effect 2 demo which got me interested in the series in the first place, good times.
"Chance to recruit Archangel! Need Guns, no wait, have guns! EXCELLENT!"
5:38 Chief Weyrloc Guld: "Tremble and die, offworld scum! I am Weyrloc Guld, Chief of Chiefs! Blood Pack, attack!"
Im Commander Shepard and this is my favorite salarian on youtube.
Favorite character RIP Mordin
this soundtrack is great, it has some 80s soundtrack style
My favorite of all squadmates's OST, particularly the beginning.
The whole score is awesome, but this song in particular is spectacular!
Conversations with Mordin blew my mind. ;]
Mordin is just... so utterly hilarious. Yet at the same time, he's got a very interesting character, personality, and background. Bioware did a brilliant job with him, he's my favourite character.
"Tell them... I held the line!"
Liked the character, his speech and his scientific/objective view of things. Made him enjoyable for me to talk whit :)
The beggining. is. Wonderful. It's my favorite part after the suicide mission theme.
Mordin! I always had a hard time keeping up with your dialogue but your the funniest alien on the crew, hell even funnier than the humans. Keep Mordin for Mass Effect 3, I deman it!

@Redzephyr1 There is a ramdom chance of him dying while guarding the door for some reason. I always send him with the crew back to the ship.

He's great on Tunchanka, and against blood pack. His niche is against armour/regen/melee enemies like krogan. Not weak, just specialized.
Probably the best squad mate theme in the game. The other 3 themes I somewhat remember were Tali, Samara and Grunt
