The owner of Desert Tech says this was intended for a light machine gun use or some other high rate of suppressive fire use. He wanted someone to carry more ammo and have longer strings of fire.
Check their videos… matching military drop testing and the mags still run. Far simpler than a drum or multi-spring SureFire. As much as you see foreign militaries using mag couplers, this is a far superior option.
That's pretty interesting! Thanks Mac for taking the time to do a review on this! I don't know if I'm going to drive up to the shop and order one but it's worth considering!
Do your part and comment this on every video he makes. The main thing is likely that he doesn't make any money from the BCM series, and he has to pay for ammo.
Its the future of rifles. The key is the way the magazine is made, which makes it much more reliable than regular quad stacks, no forcing cone to jam it up. Imagine how much 5.7 or 4.6 it can hold. If you transition to using guncotton for propellant that ammunition becomes twice as powerful, make it a longer case and it'll be as strong as an intermediate round. A slightly longer magazine and it'll probably hold 80. Imagine applying these principles to anything in battle rifle calibers (capacity 40, 50...) Ex, a 6.8mm with new propellant and a .223 parent case will have battle rifle capability and carry 60 rounds standard. Use a double shot trigger like an echo or binary and you have enough rapid fire without full auto uncontrollability. Superior firepower without losing volume of fire.
Hear me out. If the SCOTUS does check the ATF on their practice of redefining machineguns to include things like bump-stocks and FRTs, I'd love to get that new H&R lmg upper, an FRT and this quattro lower. That would be a spicy meatball.
Yeah. That's what I was thinking too. A nice 18" heavy barrel with an FRT. Boom. Instant machine gunner capability with no caliber charge. Also with the ability to take 30 rounders or D60's.
My old neighbor had one of those Fightlite belt fed uppers on a lower with a binary triggers and one of those goofy trigger cranks on a bipod. It was goofy and expensive but super fun.
Long before this video I have a ARPK build planned around this lower using a 20" HBAR barrel and binary trigger. Hopefully FRT will win and I will use that trigger instead. Way cheaper than the D60 route.
lets hope so, some good news for your cousins across the pond; the DFL - UK department of drugs and firearms licensing - (Just like your BATF ) are looking to get suppressors unrestricted !
Since the Marine Corps adapted the M27 IAR, maybe they should consider taking the IAR upper and sticking it on a full Auto Quarto 15 lower to fulfill the machine gunner role in a 4 man fireteam. I'm half tempted to kit out a Quattro 15 with a BRN-4 upper and a binary trigger.
Long before this video i have had a ARPK build planned using this lower, 20" HBAR rifle length gas system barrel and binary trigger with a bibod. Only thing im not sure of is whether or not i am going to do a rifle length buffer tube and A1 stock or collapsable stock with A5 buffer system. Should be a fun range toy either way. Also, i knew this would be reliable because they built it around and tested it full auto.
Awesome product and review. I like the idea. Even in a team, say a civilian shtf team, this would have its use for maybe a binary for rifle to act like a budget SAW. Will you do a snow Gauntlet?
That's actually what I was wondering about. I think in terms of affordability and reliability it might edge out the Fitelite belt fed upper. My only question is since it's 556 based would it work with 300 BLK out?
Completely useless for me in NJ with the 10rd limit 😞 but I do love seeing the innovation here. Nice review and definitely a step in the right direction for what its trying to accomplish.
I remember Desert Tech has a video talking about the weight reduction these quad mags present. They were even competing for NGSW at some point with polymer case ammo that makes the standard loadout significantly lighter.
DT did a good job on this product line. Got one of these because of the full ambi controls, the QMAGs are a novelty, much like the D60, except I agree with your take, they are extremely functional. The STANAG adapter is awesome as well, and is generally how I will keep my Quattro setup, its easy enough to remove it, and it is designed to interlock with itself when not installed so that it just becomes one piece to keep up with instead of 3. 20/30 rd mags are more prevalent, and they can be reloaded much faster than the QMAGs currently. If someone makes a simple speed loader system for the QMAGs, I might change my mind on the novelty factor of the mags. Also, with the adapter in place, swapping to different caliber uppers is much simpler. The ambi controls are very well implemented, I do have some mild concerns about replacement parts if the proprietary bolt catch/mag release is damaged, but thats always a concern for proprietary stuff. I am very much considering getting a few additional Quattro receivers, just because of the ambi controls.
It would be good as a home defense/clearing/CQB rig on a 10.5" or smaller SBR or pistol. It has a place. I just think it's cool that people are still trying to come up with new ideas for a 60+ year old platform.
I have already bought the lower and extra magazines back in January. Only downside is that I don't know of anyone manufacturing a loader to help speed up the loading process like the Maglula Bench Loader.
It's admittedly a good looking design and functions well. For the cost though, I'd stay with a standard lower and 40 round pmags if I needed some extra rounds between reloads. Mag pouches seems like they would be a issue aswell.
When they vetted the system they did so with harsh conditions and full auto. Even before this video I was going to get one. Hopefully they don't get scarse and go up in price after this video.
Would love to see this kind of system made more reliable and implemented in IAR concepts. Could be the right technological solution to bridge the gap between the assault rifle and the intermediate caliber light machine gun.

I wish they'd make a stubby "20" or flush fit magazine... in fact if they adapted the tech to the big bore AR mags we could get higher capacity in those too [like a 10 shot short mag or a 20/30 shot standard length mag]
*35.6 oz (P-Mag x 2) - 28.7 oz (quad stack mag) = 6.9 oz difference.* *I often read / hear that 12 magazines is the recommended minimum loadout for situations where you would need such things. The only problem becomes how to carry them. I’m not a fan of running two deep on my chest and just spread them out instead (my current setup accommodates 16+). I think a quad stack, like the Surefire or a Magpul P60 magazine that fits in a regular lower, is still a better option. I like options and innovation, so I wouldn't rule out owning one if the magazines proved to hold up over time and stay available and not become a discontinued item in a couple of years.
My question is will they be making any higher capacity magazines? If these are the same length as the 30 round mags and have a capacity of 53 how many could you squeeze in a quad stack mag that was as long as a standard 40 round PMAG?
The quad stack is supposed to replace 2 standard mags. So you're getting 53 rounds to the 2 standard's 60 rounds. 53 / 60 = 0.883 40 round mag x 2 = 80 rounds 80 rounds x 0.883 = 70.667 At a guess I'd say 68 to 70 rounds in a 40 round mag length. Might get diminishing returns as it gets larger, though.
Seems very interesting, however how does it compare to an American Tactical 60 round magazine that runs in a standard AR lower? I just like the idea of not needing proprietary mags or adapters to run standard mags
Give me quads the length of Magpul 40rd mags and ill think about it. I hate buying new mag pouches and I'll still have to have a custom molded kydex emergency reload mag carrier made.

🤣👌
lol theres a happy man, doing the thing he likes.
Very nice... Now let's see Ken Hackathorn's magazine!
Ken’s right, you don’t need more than 5 or 6 rounds. 😂
He doesn’t even carry a magazine in his guns, “cause when’s the last time he actually needed one?” 🤦♂️
Where's Paul Allen?
When was the last time you needed that AR-15 thang?
- Ken's logic
This thing would be an insane host for a RLL . God I hope they get rid of the NFA.
53 / 60 = 0.883
40 round mag x 2 = 80 rounds
80 rounds x 0.883 = 70.667
At a guess I'd say 68 to 70 rounds in a 40 round mag length. Might get diminishing returns as it gets larger, though.
It seems reliable and affordable. I like it
im curious to see how reliable the quatro15 is long term
Needs an FRT and a FightLite dual feed upper. Then all the ammo supply options are available.
No you don’t they fit in standard double mag pouches.
Qmags fit in std double mag pouches. 👍🏻
Are they planning on releasing one that doesn't have the skeletal openings?
Seems integral to the design and how the 30rd mag adapter works, but who knows? If they’re successful and see the demand…
Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather lose the regular mag comparability to close those holes and keep debris out
Interesting, the only question I have is if it weighs the gun down? How does it feel compared to a normal 30 rounder?
That federal ammunition crack big laughing on me. I remember one video Soo much pride on ammunition brand one fail ammo...many try federal ammo is Best never fail yet after six time try attempt use the same jammed ammo Guy in video say sorry I never see such humble child like sorry before adorable and extremely funny hahahaha😂😂😂
I'd like one of these in 6.5 Grendel
That’s gonna be a heavy load out right there fellas! 😓
Can you comment on the weight of the lower? Why did they hog out so much of the magwell? Is it just weight or do you think there is another purpose?
I think it was to make a way for the STANAG adaptor to be attached. Doubt it was a weight issue because that would be minimal.
