I grew up in Texas but my dad and I always promised to live in California together. I never made it to California and he passed away there so I don’t feel the need to ever return if he’s not by my side. Thank you for such a beautiful song. I know he would have loved it.

It’s got nice weather but it has too many people, most of which are fake and just want to rip you off anyway they can. The price of anything in California is ridiculously high and more people everyday are homeless and destitute, living on the side of the highways or trash lined streets. Although I love this song, I hate California.😢

I love the nod to the Crosby Stills Nash sound and the Miley Cyrus/Stevie Nicks/but even better vocals. The layers of instrumentation are fabulous and the production quality is amazing. I'd say it's way past time to come out from behind songwriting to be an artist in her own right!

This song and video is just damn near perfect. The song is such a compelling evocation of the promise of love in 70’s California and the video perfectly reflects that era with its grainy film quality and the dry brown tones, and the sad brown van on the side of the road really clinches it. Even the guitar intro echoes vintage America tunes like Ventura Freeway. I’m an old man now and this beautifully sad song is dredging up fifty year old regrets. Love it.

Circa 1975-1999 when I finally left CA for colder climes and less traffic...lol So many great memories were triggered, even love lost including my Mother which was the impetus for leaving the City of Angels.
