@@TGSAnime Best part about GX is: Axel is proven able to win in their first match Season 4 Chazz could beat Jayden Season 3, Jayden admits to Jesse that he could have won their first match if he did this. He never defeated Zane All of which, humble the character greatly.

@@tensai_kodai I mean Sherry was introduced later in the anime and had just had 3 cards printed for more than a decade, now they made so much support for her you can actually play the Fleur archetype. So anything is possible in the Duelist packs. Another one I'd like to see get support is Iron Chains & Flying Fortress Skyfire (Bommer).

I think because it's stylized and not a straight "gun". If you look at the card Barrel behind the Door it's just a gold/jewel encrusted gun, but that's "censored" enough for them.
Volcanic Queen was a monster that I always happy to receive and willing to pay 1000 life point and this card was unique because of odd design and effect.
Even if Axel’s initial decision to save his father from that accident would plague him for the rest of his life, I wish he could’ve overcome that darkness like he did during the Dimension arc. He deserved to be there with Jaden and Jesse and help bring everyone back from Nightshroud’s world.
I really wish the rest of Darkness' cards got printed for the TCG. He's the only YGO final boss whose deck is unfinished, not counting Bakura's mill strategy.
Remembering the time when I played Yigioh The Forbidden Memories where attributes matters a lot, like when a Water attribute monster attacked a Fire attribute monster, it gained 500 ATK.
Considering how late they were introduced, I'm surprised of how relevant to the plot the exchange students were in GX, Jim, Johan and O'Brien, they basically replace the old cast in the last 2 seasons.
Considering the archetype is all about militant weaponry, I felt the inclusion of rat was supportive worldbuilding. Warscapes or demilitarized zones are often depicted with rodents who would naturally thrive in filthy, ruined areas with small places to hide and dead things to feed off of. Rats often are associated with ruin and impoverished life by their nature to survive and even thrive in those environments while other animals often struggle. Considering Axel's unfortunate background and it's influence on his deck I felt the rat held signiface even if it esthetically felt out of place. Most of the monsters even glirify the things that caused him so much harm which reflects the tragic embracing of them as a means to combat the same tragedies they cause. They give a sense of security but the rat is a peak beyond the vail into Axel's dark reality so it being unwitting is actually..fitting. he puts up a good strong front but deep down has scars and trauma caused by the same lifestyle he was forced to accept, reflected by the small vermin in his deck..
Parents burning alive and a child guilt driven by the difficult choice of saving his father over his mother in the manifestation of a monster featuring a women screaming in agony by the flames of the monster........only in a children’s card game. Jokes aside, this is a really cool archetype that really does a good job tying into Axel’s characters. I’m surprised there are less cards than I was expecting. A wonder video as usual, THS Anime! I hope we see more of these cards because they really do look cool!
Season 3 and 4 of GX were dark, especially for today's Yugioh standards. Makes me dissapointed that many never saw the 4th season because it was never released outside of Japan, but knowing 4kids, that might have been a good thing, considering how they would butcher the story with censored dialog/art
@@payne9682 It’s a real darn shame but as you said, 4Kids doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to serious or morbid moments in a show at times. I guess you can say it’s God’s blessing in disguise that they didn’t dub the final season.

I'm really surprised you didn't mention that the God card support card blaze Cannon is technically part of this archetype because it is always treated as a blaze accelerator card and therefore can be searched with volcanic rocket

I feel that new support for volcanics make archtypal handtraps, like a mirror force, or even harpie's feather duster like they did with those fairy's. To balance them, they could have scattershot conditions where you send the other 2 copies from deck or hand to grave, and with the effect of a blaze accelerator. Maybe even more blaze accelerators that help with a more defensive playstyle could be fun. A protect the doomfire or whatever retrain that may be coming up.
Axel/O’Brien’s story woulda been a lot more interesting if it was thought of before rather than put in the late season 4, it’s really interesting and dark I could imagine such a story being in My Hero Academia the most, a villain origin story mostly, what with a father training his underaged son in the art of survival, and in a world like My Hero Academia, military tactics would be essential against villains, but the trauma and psychological abuses could easily push them into a villain persona, and if developed, an anti hero.

I love the idea of the deck and it has some cool art, but some of the burn damage is just so miniscule, especially for the trade-off of not attacking. Even at the time of release it was very underwhelming. Also, not a Volcanic card, but Royal Firestorm Guards is crazy good with volcanics and synergizes so well, basically Volcanic Recharge on crack
The food-like substance the Volcanic Rat is holding looks like a wedge of Swiss cheese. Some types of lava rocks do have many little holes in them much like the cheese that cartoon mice/rats so often love to eat. I think that's a cool little visual analogy that's going on in that card art.

As some one that has grown up as a bit of a pyromaniac, I would gladly like to see more for this archetype. I actually do have Volcanic Skatershot, and did not really understand what it was for until now.

Yeah, Axel’s guilt was him having to choose which is actually quite interesting story wise considering most stories usually follow the guilt of someone already making the choice and letting another die.
Tbh I feel like Borrel/rokket was the spiritual successor to this archetype, where you have a set of cards that act as guns and small monsters that act as bullets for it.
I do love how volcanic counter starts as a literal dog of war and has the name counter; perheps hinting at quick retaliation counterfire. It also would fit as you would pull the trigger first to return fire then pull the hammer to reload for more in succession. The next one refective of this is more humanlike as it escalates but retains bestial triats becoming a full monster. By the time the firefight has reached it climax, it is now a true Devil of war, not only retaliating and reacting to enemy fire but drawing it in. It is now inciting the conflict by forcing the enemy's hand and directing their attacks at itself. It has truely embraced the violence as a part of itself. It is very reflective of how people who are born and grow up surrounded by such violence often find themselves having to defend themselves through reliance on it as well just to survive and ultimately find themselves just becoming a full part of it. Fitting as a reflection of Axels fahrer. I also find it interesting how Volcanic queen is more a opposite representation of the incident with his mother in every way. He decided to sacrifice his mom and save his father so he could preserve his own life as he would slowly die in the environment without his father. Instead he sacrifices his OPPONENTS monster to bring the queen out, which slowly causes his opponent to die as a result mirroring what may have happened if he chose her instead. Allowing his father to die to save her would have caused both their life to drain away without his help. It seems he is forcing the opponent to experience something similar to what he did but the opposite choice from the one he made. This feels very complexly psychological for the motives behind this and it really shows how the series can put little things in that upon closer inspection make you question if they might have been intentionally genius additions. Maybe he needs the constant reassurance he made the right decision by watching his opponent perish from it in symbolic representation? Maybe he does it to make up for not choosing her during the real incident, perpetually having to do it in ritualistic effigy to pay her respects out of guilt. He didn't choose to save her in the real scenario so he will emulate saving her repeatedly in one's of his own recreation.
on a side note solar flare dragon, ufo turtle, and dark room of nightmare are amazing cards for to side for a volcanic deck. solar flare for its burn and self protection ufo turtle for its search effect and dark room of nightmare for the extra burn dmg
This is actually the most (if not all) darkest Archetype around the Yu-Gi-Oh series due to the backstory of Axel's childhood and his mother's death. On the side note, Axel's mother's agonizing scream would be creepy enough, but it would put real-life players with a cursed fear: Martialphobia (the fear of war). This is a clear reference to the past World Wars, due to the usage of military weapons that could "fire" among other countries for survival.
I'd freaking love more support for these cards, some new spell and traps, some extra deck monsters. Maybe have something like "Volcanic Link" where the effect would be once per turn deal 500 LP damage to the opponent for every card this monster points too or make it so that to that both players take damage depending on what side of the field "Volcanic Link" points too

You forgot to mention that Axel used Royal Firestorm Guards that are basically the ammo supplier for Volcanics by resupplying the deck. If they add new support, it'd ve cool to see a volcanic contemporary to Royal Firestorm Guards
I like Axel Brody , he’s pretty cool. I like his theme, his duel disk is pretty cool cuz it’s a gun. And I have only a few of these Volcanic cards. I have only 2 Blaze Accelerators, 1 Wild Fire, 1 Volcanic Recharge, Volcanic Rat, Volcanic Blaster, and Volcanic Hammerer . And idk, I saw a King Pyron in the GX season 3 intro, so I guess Brody might have that. Idk. Well gee we need more military cards for Axel’s deck, maybe like Overdrive , or Science Soldier. Mr. Volcano or Flame Champion .
One other think about the Volcanic Queen is that she could be seen as a weaker version of Lava Golem. This is due to how both monsters can only be special summoned on your opponent side of the field by tributing the monster(s) on their side of the field, (with Lava Golem needing two tributes, while Volcanic Queen needs only 1,) of which you can not Normal Summon a monster on the turn that card was Special Summon. Both have similar effects where each turn the opponent receives 1000 points of damage, while it's on their side of the field. And both are Fire Attribute Monsters.
I remember this archetype the time from back in the day I did like it I just never played it and again I wasn't doing better playing with any of these your car so it's more collecting still liked it.
I like using these in my toad deck. blaze accelerator reload and volcanic scattershot can be a surprising way to blow up your opponents monsters. also because they are lv. 2 they can xyz summon some rank 2 monsters.
I noticed that Volcanic Queen bears a striking resemblance to Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, especially if you compare their faces. It make me wonder if Volcanic Queen's design was inspired by Uria or based on an unused Uria concept design.

When I was a kid and collected yugioh cards, I once had Volcanic Hammerer. just like the other old cards, I get nostalgia just by a glance.
It took One year and now on April 11th 2023 there are now 6 New Support cards for the volcanic archetype
Volcanic was my 1st favourite archetype ever since I saw O'Brien use it in the anime. His Gun Duel Disk was also very cool.

I do love how volcanic counter starts as a literal dog of war and has the name counter; perheps hinting at quick retaliation counterfire. It also would fit as you would pull the trigger first to return fire then pull the hammer to reload for more in succession. The next one refective of this is more humanlike as it escalates but retains bestial triats becoming a full monster. By the time the firefight has reached it climax, it is now a true Devil of war, not only retaliating and reacting to enemy fire but drawing it in. It is now inciting the conflict by forcing the enemy's hand and directing their attacks at itself. It has truely embraced the violence as a part of itself. It is very reflective of how people who are born and grow up surrounded by such violence often find themselves having to defend themselves through reliance on it as well just to survive and ultimately find themselves just becoming a full part of it. Fitting as a reflection of Axels fahrer. I also find it interesting how Volcanic queen is more a opposite representation of the incident with his mother in every way. He decided to sacrifice his mom and save his father so he could preserve his own life as he would slowly die in the environment without his father. Instead he sacrifices his OPPONENTS monster to bring the queen out, which slowly causes his opponent to die as a result mirroring what may have happened if he chose her instead. Allowing his father to die to save her would have caused both their life to drain away without his help. It seems he is forcing the opponent to experience something similar to what he did but the opposite choice from the one he made. This feels very complexly psychological for the motives behind this and it really shows how the series can put little things in that upon closer inspection make you question if they might have been intentionally genius additions. Maybe he needs the constant reassurance he made the right decision by watching his opponent perish from it in symbolic representation? Maybe he does it to make up for not choosing her during the real incident, perpetually having to do it in ritualistic effigy to pay her respects out of guilt. He didn't choose to save her in the real scenario so he will emulate saving her repeatedly in one's of his own recreation.

on a side note solar flare dragon, ufo turtle, and dark room of nightmare are amazing cards for to side for a volcanic deck. solar flare for its burn and self protection ufo turtle for its search effect and dark room of nightmare for the extra burn dmg

I love it but then again it's one of my most played decks in my deck collection X-D
This is actually the most (if not all) darkest Archetype around the Yu-Gi-Oh series due to the backstory of Axel's childhood and his mother's death.
On the side note, Axel's mother's agonizing scream would be creepy enough, but it would put real-life players with a cursed fear: Martialphobia (the fear of war). This is a clear reference to the past World Wars, due to the usage of military weapons that could "fire" among other countries for survival.
Love this deck. It was the second one I ever personally built.
Blaze Canon is also a Blaze Accelerator Card so you can play a The Winged Dragon of Ra

Such as the Greek myth deck And have really knowing more each ones speciality
I'd freaking love more support for these cards, some new spell and traps, some extra deck monsters. Maybe have something like "Volcanic Link" where the effect would be once per turn deal 500 LP damage to the opponent for every card this monster points too or make it so that to that both players take damage depending on what side of the field "Volcanic Link" points too
Considering I just got the Volcanic boss from duel links trying to get Dark world cards,this game surprisingly on point.

You forgot to mention that Axel used Royal Firestorm Guards that are basically the ammo supplier for Volcanics by resupplying the deck. If they add new support, it'd ve cool to see a volcanic contemporary to Royal Firestorm Guards

I have only 2 Blaze Accelerators, 1 Wild Fire, 1 Volcanic Recharge, Volcanic Rat, Volcanic Blaster, and Volcanic Hammerer .
And idk, I saw a King Pyron in the GX season 3 intro, so I guess Brody might have that. Idk.
Well gee we need more military cards for Axel’s deck, maybe like Overdrive , or Science Soldier. Mr. Volcano or Flame Champion .
One other think about the Volcanic Queen is that she could be seen as a weaker version of Lava Golem. This is due to how both monsters can only be special summoned on your opponent side of the field by tributing the monster(s) on their side of the field, (with Lava Golem needing two tributes, while Volcanic Queen needs only 1,) of which you can not Normal Summon a monster on the turn that card was Special Summon. Both have similar effects where each turn the opponent receives 1000 points of damage, while it's on their side of the field. And both are Fire Attribute Monsters.

I like using these in my toad deck. blaze accelerator reload and volcanic scattershot can be a surprising way to blow up your opponents monsters. also because they are lv. 2 they can xyz summon some rank 2 monsters.

I noticed that Volcanic Queen bears a striking resemblance to Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, especially if you compare their faces. It make me wonder if Volcanic Queen's design was inspired by Uria or based on an unused Uria concept design.
