Miles was so conflicted on the show. I know first hand how it goes. I was a GF of a closeted man. I spent 5 years with him and bore his son. The dishonesty is what cut me deep. Took me years to get over it. I was disappointed not angry at him but he could’ve just told me.

Based solely on this clip, I see Milan as the one in the wrong. He never accepted Miles and always wanted more and more from him. Miles sacrificed everything to give Milan everything he asked for but it was never enough. Specific example: Milan pushed for Miles to move in. Although hesitant, Miles eventually conceded and moved in with Milan. The very next day, Milan quickly resorted to kicking out Miles rather than resolve an argument. I believe Milan has some issues of his own that need to be worked out but he seems like a great guy otherwise.
Miles really did care about Milan. He wasn’t ready to come out to his friends and family yet. I’m gay and when I came out, I came out at my own pace. When I did come out, my friends and family were okay with it. They still are okay with me being gay.

Never watched the show, but watching this synopsis shows a guy who was just intent on forcing another man to a phase they weren't ready for. This is horrible, destructive behavior. Everyone should be allowed to own their truth. Not sure what kind of conversations they both had starting out, but this was doomed from the go - neither one should have been messing with the other in the state they were in. People think there's some kind of arbitrary timeline for folks coming out. What's at stake differs for each person. He forced that man to come out to his family and then we find out even his own mother isn't accepting. One would've thought his personal experience would've made him more understanding. But ultimately, they both never belonged together - an 'out' gay man should not be dating a 'DL' man seriously, hoping for an 'out' relationship.
I respectfully and partially disagree with you. I feel like Milan was way too patient with Miles for him to come out and really claim their relationship. It's been two years, how many years do you need in order to come out and claim your relationship? For me this whole relationship came across as Miles holding onto Milan with puppet strings and just letting him wait and sit until Milan had enough. If you really love someone, especially after a bit (and especially after two years), you would come out and claim him. If you're not sure, then I think you shouldn't be in a relationship until you've really figured out what you're ready for. Because you can't be in a relationship with someone who is down and ready to settle, waiting on you, when you just aren't. I do agree with you that the relationship was doomed from the get go, but I don't agree with with why. As I said, for me it feels like it was doomed, because Miles was never sure about the relationship and never ready to settle. I think at that point on, Miles should've told Milan that and let Milan go. It's selfish of Miles to let someone wait, run after you while you can't give him the clear hint of when you're ready. Wow looking back I appreciate this season so much more. Mona Scott really had some interesting topics. Being on the “down low” is such a taboo and big topic in the black community and this season gave us a real look into all three sides. While I will always encourage people to live their truths and be honest to those they love, rewatching this a second time I actually really do empathize with both of them because that’s a tricky situation to be in.

Although its set up, the message this storyline conveyed was that Miles is a toxically selfish person who only moves on his own times and thinks everybody has to roll with it and his family enables him to lie and get away with it, also to be so selfish and think everything has to revolve around him. Often times, Milan was a bit clingy, too needy and pushy, but to me, his character was way more tolerable than Miles'.

Based solely on this clip, I see Milan as the one in the wrong. He never accepted Miles and always wanted more and more from him. Miles sacrificed everything to give Milan everything he asked for but it was never enough. Specific example: Milan pushed for Miles to move in. Although hesitant, Miles eventually conceded and moved in with Milan. The very next day, Milan quickly resorted to kicking out Miles rather than resolve an argument. I believe Milan has some issues of his own that need to be worked out but he seems like a great guy otherwise.

I can't possibly be the only one who thinks Milan's behavior was self-serving and inconsiderate. Never watched the show, but watching this synopsis shows a guy who was just intent on forcing another man to a phase they weren't ready for. This is horrible, destructive behavior. Everyone should be allowed to own their truth. Not sure what kind of conversations they both had starting out, but this was doomed from the go - neither one should have been messing with the other in the state they were in. People think there's some kind of arbitrary timeline for folks coming out. What's at stake differs for each person. He forced that man to come out to his family and then we find out even his own mother isn't accepting. One would've thought his personal experience would've made him more understanding. But ultimately, they both never belonged together - an 'out' gay man should not be dating a 'DL' man seriously, hoping for an 'out' relationship.
I respectfully and partially disagree with you. I feel like Milan was way too patient with Miles for him to come out and really claim their relationship. It's been two years, how many years do you need in order to come out and claim your relationship? For me this whole relationship came across as Miles holding onto Milan with puppet strings and just letting him wait and sit until Milan had enough. If you really love someone, especially after a bit (and especially after two years), you would come out and claim him. If you're not sure, then I think you shouldn't be in a relationship until you've really figured out what you're ready for. Because you can't be in a relationship with someone who is down and ready to settle, waiting on you, when you just aren't.
I do agree with you that the relationship was doomed from the get go, but I don't agree with with why. As I said, for me it feels like it was doomed, because Miles was never sure about the relationship and never ready to settle. I think at that point on, Miles should've told Milan that and let Milan go. It's selfish of Miles to let someone wait, run after you while you can't give him the clear hint of when you're ready. See it like this, and I know it's a bit of a stupid example. I have a piece of candy, you want the candy, but I am not going to give you the candy until I am ready to. You keep chasing after me, asking for the candy but I'm just not giving it to you because I'm not ready to give it to you. That's kinda how the relationship feels like, do you get where I'm coming from? The relationship was doomed, but it was also bad. It didn't work because two guys had different ideas. I think the relationship might have been a lot better between the two even after they broke up if they went their own way in the beginning. Because later on things came in between, they got angry at each other, dirt was slinged, when all of it could've been resolved very easily.

Being on the “down low” is such a taboo and big topic in the black community and this season gave us a real look into all three sides. While I will always encourage people to live their truths and be honest to those they love, rewatching this a second time I actually really do empathize with both of them because that’s a tricky situation to be in.
