as someone who's been semi-involved in warriors shipping drama with this ship in particular, i want to say i believe you covered it extremely well! i myself was a bit disappointed to hear that the authors were avoiding the headcanon of ivypool being a lesbian, but with the way they handled their relationship (by not erasing ivypool's characterization in favor of being more "motherly"), i think i can forgive it. though, it is disappointing that we lacked more scenes with fernsong and the kits! which of course is due to the time skip in the new arc, but a girl can dream.

Of course! I think that's super important to acknowledge! Trust me, I've been on the losing side of a "shipping war" in the past and in my experience, "losing" doesn't make you like the ship any ship and sometimes can even make you more supportive of the ship. It's important to have a fandom that can appreciate canon and fanon at the same time. :D
I don't really ship IvyBlossom because Blossomfall makes it clear that she only talks to Ivypool because they are both in the Dark Forest (in my opinion)

I honestly ADORE this ship. It’s just perfect. Fernsong is just so different than all the other strong masculine warrior males we have seen. Instead he’s a soft, playful and gentle Den Daddo and you can see he LOVES Ivypool and his family.
It's bound to happen when you can "only breed in your clan and not outside it cause that breaks the code" and what not. But a few new comers adding to the gene pool won't fix the fact *everyone* is related!

To answer the question I actually REALLY like Firestar and Sandstorm-Sandstorm is very much a rock in Firestar's life, and despite all their drama in the past, they were good parents to Squirrel and Leaf, even asking Leafpool what was up when she was pregnant with Crow's kits-that's called being a good mom and dad. And then there's Jayfeather and Half Moon...I don't know why But I just kind of like these two together. And finally Hollyleaf and Fallen Leaves and the fact that they're not together in StarClan has me SO salty.
I love this ship purely because of their different personalities, Ivypool is a cat who trained in the dark forest and doesn't trust immediately, and Fernsong is just a golden retriever in a cat's body.
My favorite couple is by far ivyfern but I really enjoy the dynamic between nightcloud and crowfeather and how they work out their relationship for their son.
I was nervous clicking into this video because I knew the inevitable was coming about the biggest underlying reason was due to lesbians and their headcanons... So, thank you for being understanding about the fact lesbians are allowed to dislike the ship simply for the disappointment they felt 😭 ❤️ I feel like a LOT of people coming up for "valid" reasons to dislike certain ships (ie: the petty fandom talking points you mentioned) is because I don't think people realize they aren't shallow for disliking something due to their own personal feelings. Speaking as a lesbian, we get talked over a lot in fandoms because of the whole "angry/man-hating lesbian" stereotypes, anything we dislike already comes off as irrational, so some end up overcompensating to feel justified when just being like "I'm a lesbian, and I saw her like me, so it makes me upset" should be enough. Fandom would be better for us all if people just learned they can just like... dislike things freely. I know after this became canon, there was a lot of discourse about how she could still be bi so lesbians weren't allowed to be upset, and that's all good and if she was canon rep of ANY kind it would be fantastic. But these identities and experiences aren't interchangeable, so that doesn't negate any grief it's caused people.

I'm in a fandom with very heavy shipping drama (seriously, the YuGiOh fandom is a mess) and I simply don't understand it. any reason to dislike a ship is valid, but if you dislike a ship, don't go bothering others about it. ship and let ship, that's how I see it. the exception is if a ship is very toxic and harmful, like ACTUAL incst/pdophlia (censoring those words because they could be triggering to some people), but even then I think calmly explaining why the ship is toxic and then blocking the ship tag is the best course of action. I'm speaking here as someone who hates some of the most popular ships in the fandom. not because I think they're bad ships, but because of the attitudes of the shippers. "x character and y character should be together", yea, sure, why not. "x and y should be together because z character sucks and doesn't even like x"... yea, no. get out of here with your character bashing and shipping drama. for the most part though... I just stick to my canon ships and my healthy relationship rarepairs. never seen anyone hate on healthy relationship rarepairs, and canon is canon.

On the incest thing, most people don't even seem to realize that they're not just 3rd cousins. They're 2nd cousins too! Because Brightheart and Brackenfur are siblings! No seriously, they are closer related through their Thunderclan blood than they are through Firestar. Also, there's no laws stopping 3rd or even 2nd cousins marrying irl. It's 1st cousins or closer that is considered incest by law. I mean, I don't know the names of many of my 2nd cousins, let alone my 3rd cousins! How am I supposed to avoid dating them? People don't even know Ivyfern is closer related through other family, that's a dead giveaway that it really shouldn't be a problem. That, and the increased risk of genetic anomalies is negligible at that point. No, seriously, there's been enough outbreeding at that point that hereditary diseases showing up is nearly as likely as total strangers.

I think Ivypool and Fernsong were such a good contrast to Twigbranch and Finleap. Both Ivypool and Twigbranch didn’t like the idea of being stuck in the nursery. Finleap wanted kits and pressured Twigbranch into having kits while Fernsong also wanted kits and decided to allow Ivypool to make her own decisions. I just love Fernsong and Ivypool. To answer the question I actually REALLY like Firestar and Sandstorm-Sandstorm is very much a rock in Firestar's life, and despite all their drama in the past, they were good parents to Squirrel and Leaf, even asking Leafpool what was up when she was pregnant with Crow's kits-that's called being a good mom and dad. And then there's Jayfeather and Half Moon...I don't know why But I just kind of like these two together. And finally Hollyleaf and Fallen Leaves and the fact that they're not together in StarClan has me SO salty.

I love this ship purely because of their different personalities, Ivypool is a cat who trained in the dark forest and doesn't trust immediately, and Fernsong is just a golden retriever in a cat's body.

I feel like a LOT of people coming up for "valid" reasons to dislike certain ships (ie: the petty fandom talking points you mentioned) is because I don't think people realize they aren't shallow for disliking something due to their own personal feelings.
Speaking as a lesbian, we get talked over a lot in fandoms because of the whole "angry/man-hating lesbian" stereotypes, anything we dislike already comes off as irrational, so some end up overcompensating to feel justified when just being like "I'm a lesbian, and I saw her like me, so it makes me upset" should be enough. Fandom would be better for us all if people just learned they can just like... dislike things freely.
I know after this became canon, there was a lot of discourse about how she could still be bi so lesbians weren't allowed to be upset, and that's all good and if she was canon rep of ANY kind it would be fantastic. But these identities and experiences aren't interchangeable, so that doesn't negate any grief it's caused people.

I'm in a fandom with very heavy shipping drama (seriously, the YuGiOh fandom is a mess) and I simply don't understand it. any reason to dislike a ship is valid, but if you dislike a ship, don't go bothering others about it. ship and let ship, that's how I see it. the exception is if a ship is very toxic and harmful, like ACTUAL incst/pdophlia (censoring those words because they could be triggering to some people), but even then I think calmly explaining why the ship is toxic and then blocking the ship tag is the best course of action.
I'm speaking here as someone who hates some of the most popular ships in the fandom. not because I think they're bad ships, but because of the attitudes of the shippers. "x character and y character should be together", yea, sure, why not. "x and y should be together because z character sucks and doesn't even like x"... yea, no. get out of here with your character bashing and shipping drama.
for the most part though... I just stick to my canon ships and my healthy relationship rarepairs. never seen anyone hate on healthy relationship rarepairs, and canon is canon.
Some people out there like shipping toxic relationships, I don't get it personally.

On the incest thing, most people don't even seem to realize that they're not just 3rd cousins. They're 2nd cousins too! Because Brightheart and Brackenfur are siblings! No seriously, they are closer related through their Thunderclan blood than they are through Firestar. Also, there's no laws stopping 3rd or even 2nd cousins marrying irl. It's 1st cousins or closer that is considered incest by law. I mean, I don't know the names of many of my 2nd cousins, let alone my 3rd cousins! How am I supposed to avoid dating them? People don't even know Ivyfern is closer related through other family, that's a dead giveaway that it really shouldn't be a problem. That, and the increased risk of genetic anomalies is negligible at that point. No, seriously, there's been enough outbreeding at that point that hereditary diseases showing up is nearly as likely as total strangers.
To be honest, I used to hate IvyFern, but I’m starting to love it. I’m excited to see it in the future books.

I think Ivypool and Fernsong were such a good contrast to Twigbranch and Finleap. Both Ivypool and Twigbranch didn’t like the idea of being stuck in the nursery. Finleap wanted kits and pressured Twigbranch into having kits while Fernsong also wanted kits and decided to allow Ivypool to make her own decisions. I just love Fernsong and Ivypool. They are my baby

“Remember to be kind to each other,” I wish the BS kids at my old school could remember that. That’s why I love the escape Warriors provides. My personal favorite ship is... well, that’s hard to decide. But I’ll say my top 3 are Lion x Cinder, Jay x Half Moon, and since reading Crowfeather’s Trial, Breeze x Heather. Also, back when I was reading the Sight, I also shipped Jaypaw and Poppypaw together. I know that sounds weird but that’s my opinion.
