@@HyveMindsGames Ya know, it's funny, people told me that that's a ridiculous argument. They never explained why, but they did. But people also told me that the game's great if you don't see it as a finale, so I don't know how seriously I wanna take people. Also your video's great. Just wanted to say that.
I mostly heard the complaint that people "unfairly" compare KH3 with KH2FM. Because apparently KH2 had the same flaws as KH3 and only the FM turned it into a masterpiece. A sentiment I disagree with. I grew up with vanilla KH2 and only played the Final Mix when 2.5 released. I still think KH2 - even in its vanilla state - is the high point in the series and leagues better tham KH3. Gameplay, story, pacing and all. Of course, the FM improved things, but it turned a good game into a great game. With KH3, I think we got a mediocre game that could become good & a satisfying conclusion of the first saga with future DLC. The question is, why should we accept or even defend this practice from SE? We got what feels like half a game with some serious flaws at full price. KH2FM should not be the pinnacle of the franchise. More than a decade later, it should be its baseline. Also: Great video with good points! I love watching constructive criticism to put my own feelings into words. This video reminded me why I was so bummed out, even angry, after finishing KH3. Nomura's interview from the KH3 Ultimania is also very insightful - but also depressing if you still care about the franchise and were disappointed with KH3.
@@Reviel17 Exactly. On pure controls and game feel alone, KH2 easily wins against any other KH game, and that's ignoring the base game's substance. I shouldn't have more trouble with base KH2's Standard mode, than with KH3's Proud mode, and I should especially be bawling a lot more from the climax than the second act. What I find the most troubling about defenders of KH3 is that they apparently don't see that people critical of it (I don't wanna say most cuz I don't have the numbers and I know some are only in it for the bandwagon) just want it to be better. I know I don't wanna take their experience with the game away, I just want it to be even better. I want Square to fix the game, I legitimately do. I don't think it's acceptable for them to have to do that, but I'd rather they did than didn't. And fact of the matter is, it can become the best game in the series trough that method. I wanna see them try, at the very least. I will say though, i don't personally feel like the game was a waste of my 60 dollars. I don't necessarily think there was a lot of it that was cut out, I just think it was mis-handled. I don't think it needs new scenes necessarily, it just needs re-writes. Now, it necessarily does need a re-design of the combat system, but I think I'm giving it a pass just because this is the best team Osaka game, at least from a gameplay perspective, I don't think many people would disagree with that, and in its own little way it's a reason to praise it. It's not acceptable, but it's reason to praise it still.
It doesn't even look that nice :'''( KH2 remastered/final mix/2.5 had much better character renderings. ... Herc especially bothered me in KH3 his proportions were all off. Oh, and Donald, what even. And Sora's face is unrecognizable I hate it! I don't mind the FF glowy filter realism, but Sora's facial design is a just plain bad reinterpretation of his familiar face. Riku, in contrast, was done well.
Xehanort: takes over terra's body. Ruins friendships. Ruins lives. Unleashed the heartless. Causes several worlds to fall into darkness. Kills kairi Also xehanort: hey bro I'm not evil. I'm just misunderstood.
The Barbell Lifestyle He was just testing their light by making things real dark. And he tried to help Kairi develop her character but she obviously failed each time.
@@thedenalski4038 It really does seem like it was cut from the game, it seems like a really expansive area with lots of platforming to be used as a boss arena. perhaps it was originally meant to be explore-able but was cut due to the game being rushed for 2019.
I really hate how useless Kairi and Aqua were in the game and how Axel literally became a comic relief character. Oh and no Final Fantasy at all? Like...really? They've been in every KH game right?
DUDE in the end when you helped axel and Kairi fight I had to jump away to see if she would do anything and she literally just got beat up until her health was finished I didn't even get to see her swing her keyblade and after Anti-Aqua, Aqua just became a wife waiting for her husband to return from the army
Because in KH1 they managed to at least make it fee like Sora and pals as well as the heartless had an actual impact on the story in some way. With Tarzan, Sora was the reason that Tarzan was basically at the wrong place at the wrong time for most of it while the Darkness in the hunter's heart attracted the heartless. In Atlantis, Sora directly strengstens Ariel's desire to leave the ocean. In Olympus Coliseum Sora helped foiling the plot by Hades who gained the help of Cloud, basically evening the odds of another invader to the world. For Wonderland Sora had to clean up the mess that some heatless had made. In Neverland, Riku and the Heartless directly worked with Hook so Sora and crew were also there to counter-measure that and put the story back to course. Similair thing for Monstro And in Agrabah Maleficent kicked off the plot and Sora and crew were just there to fight the heartless really. But yeah, each world had some kind of change to them or the story itself got kicked off by someone who was not there originally.
I'm a much bigger fan of KH2 but I absolutely agree with you on that. There was no reason to go to the Mulan world. Just wanted to get that out of the way and be done with it. There were several that felt like that.
It seems hard now to make disney worlds more relevant again due to having too many characters. If somehow nomura is able to make disney worlds relevant again despite having a lot of characters I would give him a round of applause.
Know what I hated the most about the game. Bringing back EVERYONE who died or disappeared on the previous games kinda invalidates their whole tragic stories.
"At least I have KH2." And that is how I made my peace with KH3. It disappointed me to such an extent that I decided to label it as an alternate universe and declared KH2 the real ending of the series for me.
That's funny. My head canon is that Sora is dreamimg all of this crap in 3D and we haven't actually seen the true story of 3D. And we are still waiting for Riku to wake him up. So everything is fine.
I feel like this game was dumbed down for people new to the series. The devs probably did not trust the long time fans to remember what happened in the "plot” of the previous installments, due to half the time in the cutscenes was just characters explaining what was going on in the last game. I played this game without skipping anything and all I could think was, "yes I know, I saw that happen in that game, why explain it when we already saw it”
I didn't even watch any recap video's on the series explaining the gaps that missed since I didn't play BBS, DDD, or that Aqua game, I forget what it's called. I guess I could add in 358/2 Days as well. All of those games I didn't play or watch any cutscenes of cause really, I didn't play Chain of Memories before playing KH2, yet I was still very intrigued on what was going on. Now playing most of BBS, half of Re: Chain of Memories & all of DDD has watched away SE of the disappointment of KH3 for me. Now I may come back to KH3 though if they release a Final Mix version. Also most of the stuff I liked in KH3 was the Disney stuff & even some of that was disappointing in certain ways they did things.
Yup focusing on what happened in past games instead of dropping hints about the Foretellers, Daybreak Town and the danger that is the encroaching darkness. But don't tell Nomura that he just thinks you all were waiting for 3 without going through to play previous games to refresh your memory. He could've tied everything up nicely and given information on what really matters, the bigger picture that is the Master of Masters and the Foretellers, but Nomura couldn't be bothered to do that despite the fact we're supposed to be going into the Foretellers saga now.. Thanks so much for the not even half baked story Nomura.
FUN FACT: In KH3 we have all these clunky Disney Attraction Attacks. But in Walt Disney World Resort (Orlando) we can't find a SINGLE Kingdom Hearts attraction or reference. Not even a Keyblade keychain in the stores.
@@hchozn That's a lame excuse. Not from your part, but from Disney itself to claim it. Rights can be purchased, and if the franchise is already based on Disney material, I don't see why they couldn't make it happen.
Was it just me, or did a lot of the characters lack emotional expressions? I just went back and looked at KH1, and their facial expressions and the way they spoke were much more lively and had much more emotion. Heck, KH2 as well. In this one, most are talking softly and look dazed, like they're not really feeling much of anything anymore. lol, it's like even the characters are starting to give up on the story.
Yeah, they're going for a more realistic look for the human characters and it just makes them look stiff. KH2 Sora's face is cartoony and expressive, now he just looks bored.
I'd say the only downside of KH2 cutscenes was the lack of BGM in like 90% of them, cause the dialogue was very decent, it just felt awkward solely cause of the lack of music haha
When they arrived at Destiny Islands to find Master Eraqus’ keyblade, I really wanted to get out of the cutscene and roam around the place. See what’s new, like in Twilight Town, but unfortunately we went straight to the Anti-Aqua fight.
Video begins "KH3 isn't the worst game, but it's the biggest disappointment" You already got my like after that Edit: Watched the rest of the video now and I can't agree more. All your points were great. Great review
The game feels like it's targeted towards the current younger generation, not the now adults who were the first to play KH2, it doesn't feel like the same old classic. I guess that's what happens when you delay a sequel for 14 damn years, its 'flavor' changes due to changes in the real world. KH2 was a masterpiece that will never be repeated again.
Exactly, the dialogue to me seems like it was especially toned down in complexity and depth for the younger audience rather than kept at a more interesting and useful impact to the story itself and for the older generations who played the past games. Im specifically talking about those LONG pauses in between EVERY..............TWO WORDS............THAT.............THE SPEAKER..............BREATHES OUT. Now, imagine if i had done that with my entire paragraph. I would have quit reading that by "two words" already. Thats just an example as to how i felt every time someone spoke during the millenia i spent watching a single cutscene.
I totally agree with this. A lot of people were complaining that the game wouldnt be able to introduce new players, even though the game had 3 in the title. Not only that but Disney had this game by the balls. So to blame anyone, it's society's fault for this games current state. 🤷
Because it IS targeted towards the younger generation. That’s how it’s always been. The intention was never to target older fans. Square and Disney know the older fans will buy Kingdom Hearts no matter what. It’s new fans from the current generation they needed to get.
KH2 is nothing compaired to KH 1. in KH 1 the disney worlds actually MATTERED. in KH 2 the disney worlds had nothing to do with the story and were merely side quests. like filler plots in an anime.
I also think it has to do with the fact that we’ve all grown up and experienced life too... I could actually relate to Xehanort... and some of the things coming out of Sora, I was annoyed.... I guess that’s what life gets you.... darkness....
Can we talk about how pete and maleficent found pandora's box in Olympus and then *nothing happened?* I was like "Oh boy, can't wait until we come back to this world and fight whatever challenges pop out of it!"
The entire fucking game was all setup for their NEXT KH game. It was a fucking twenty hour (if it even took that long) commercial for whatever they shove out next.
I guess I was in denial when I was first playing. I really was excited for this and really wanted to like it too but your summary pretty much speaks my thoughts..
I’ll be honest. I was disappointed in some parts of the game too. But I didn’t see it as a bad game, nor is it’s story. In my opinion, I thought they did a great job concluding the Xehanort saga. Xehanort was beaten and accepted defeat, the Wayfinder and sea salt trios got their happy endings, and ansem reuinted with his apprentices. Of course, that doesn’t mean the story has its flaws. I do agree that it was a big disappointment that all of the important story stuff was saved for the end. I would have preferred if it was sprinkled throughout the game and not thrown at the very end. But regardless, I still felt they did a great job finishing this saga.
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE you're right with everyone's happy ending but I felt most of it was just retelling of Disney movies, which we've all probably seen. The difficulty wasn't challenging, I remember spending hours strategizing in KH2 on boss fights and actually enjoying it, not feeling bored :/. I agree tho, the ending was really good, it hit the feels but I really wish the story progressed more than just the last 4-6 hours of the game. It just felt like a let down after all these years waiting. Hopefully, the team realizes their mistakes and take our feedback into consideration for KH4.
"Go train with Hercules" was a good start.... "Go to fuckville out of nowhere to watch Elsa sing" was a terrible continuation. Where was "Go to Neverland and learn to fly again, you'll need it to defeat Xehanort". Where was "Go to Arielle to learn how to swim properly, It may come in handy." Where was "Meet up with Cid in Hollow Bastion, he might be able to help us with upgrading the ship." Where was "Find Aladdin, Genie's help could become important in other worlds and we need him." Where was "Visit Leon, maybe he can help patch up your memory in Hollow Bastion / Radiant Garden." And no, I don't take "They were in a hurry, they couldn't learn all these things!" as an excuse. Sora lazed off in Tangled and Frozen, then collected 300 crabs in Pirates of the Caribbean. The time he could have used to relearn his power of waking was completely wasted in half the worlds. Kingdom Hearts 1 taught Sora things depending on the world. In Neverland, he learned to fly which he needed in the final battle of KH1. In Arielle's world, learning to swim was more often an advantage than crucial, but for KH3 it seriously could have mattered. One phase of the final boss WAS a water fight. You can just tell Nomura didn't want to do this. To be honest, I can't blame them. They wanted Toy Story in KH2 and they were shot down despite everything they did for Disney. They must have been pissed off, REALLY pissed off. After all, Nomura did tell them to hand over Buzz and Woody or there wouldn't even BE KH3 as far as I know.
"After all, Nomura did tell them to hand over Buzz and Woody or there wouldn't even BE KH3 as far as I know." Wow, he must have REALLY enjoyed Toy Story. Still, I would have greatly preferred them as summons over Chicken Little.
@@razor-backfrogger4256 he used toy story for his verum rex thing that's based in his cancelled final fantasy Vs 13 project that looks like it's going to be crucial for kingdom hearts in the future
While I agree the game wasn’t an excellent game, the fact is that it concluded the Xehanort saga. Disappointed or not, it still did it’s job in that regard.
DetectiveXigBraigBobbyFulbrightTheSpiritofJUSTICE I just finished the game. Gotta say, entering in the last world is when they should have had the screen title say kingdom hearts 3 cause all of the Disney world bs didn’t contribute much to the story at all. But before entering in the last world, I took about 2 in a half weeks off the game just to forget what I went through only keeping the small important parts in my mind. This morning I hopped back on and felt I was playing the actual game and it didn’t disappoint... well alittle with the whole kairi thing. But I mainly wanted to see axel roxes and xion. That part made me cry and it was worth it. So I saved the game right before you go to last world to replay just that world again. So now I give the game a 7/10 kH2 9/10 and kH1 10/10. P.s. 368/2 10/10
Facts. Fuck 3. I'm gonna go back just to pretend 2 had the final ending. All this time and aside from graphics 3 is worse in comparison to 1 and 2 in every aspect?.. trash.
@@christianguerrero70 that's what i'm doing, keeping kh2 as my ending. luckily nothing about 3 was moving or memorable, so it's easy to pretend it never happened.
i saw this one girl doing a let's play of kh3 and she sat on the menu screen crying for 5 mins and would pretty much cry at every corny line in the game. i have a feeling she represents most kh3 fans. it was obvious from the beginning that the game could have literally been 1,000 times worse than it already is and she would still be constantly crying and talking about how amazing it is. kh3 was the only kh game that never made me feel the slightest emotion. rechain of memories had a far superior story and voice acting and had more emotional moments, and the gameplay was far more fun and addictive if you take the time to learn it.
@@angell6920 1. kh2fm 2. kh1fm 3. re com 4. bbs 5. ddd 6. kh3 re chain of memories gets a lot of hate but the combat and story kept me just as hooked as 1 and 2 once i got into it and learned it.
One thing that bugs me that I haven't seen others mention is that the characters just felt like they're talking AT each other as opposed to having a believable conversation WITH each other.
shatterbound And what they were talking about was just soooo boring! I was missing a lot of drama in this game. Most of the cutscenes was just lifeless
Aqua: I guess it must’ve worked, that spell that I cast on you. Kairi: huh? When was that? Thank you anyway I guess. -------- Aqua: Sora good to see you again Sora: ? Aqua: it’s okay. -------- The convos I’ve been wanting so bad, handled in the worst way.
From now on, when I play the series, I'm going to play Birth by Sleep, then Kingdom Hearts, then Chain of Memories, then 358/2 Days, and end with Kingdom Hearts II.
Something else about the plot that really bugged me was the ending *Spoilers* . . . . like the ending was just so ... anti-climactic and defeating to the long story-line they built. Xehanort finally has the X-Blade and whatever than Eraqus shows up and just says “don’t do this” and he just.. gives it all up. He gives up his resolve that he literally spent various lifetimes through time to devise just to ... not? It’s just so insulting tbh
Biggest slap in the face was that 3ds was basically a lie and 80% of kh3 was a useless lie. 3DS Yen Sid: Sora you're not a master because you didn't obtain the power of waking KH3 Ven: Bro you've had the power of waking the whole time There was also no point in visiting any of the worlds. In every other kh game you're in a world trying to track down a friend or foe. In kh3 you're just randomly visiting with little to no purpose whatsoever.
The ending with Xehanort could be better if after we defeated him, he is on his knees, the x Blade is not on his hands and he is starting to fade away. Then Eraquas(i forgot how to write his name) would say his " there is more to light" speech and Xehanort would chuckle bitterly and say "Well played" before fading away
Honestly this is Kingdom Hearts 5. Chain of memories and Dream drop distance are direct sequels to KH1 and KH2 and shouldn't have been made on GBA or 3ds titles. Birth by sleep was a prequel that has so much background info that's needed for KH3 that you really can't skip it so that Kingdom hearts 0 to me. Coded and 358 days aren't as necessary but 358 days has some really important info that you can't miss if you care at all about Axel, Xion, or Roxas. Also the story in 358 days is the best in the series and only wish it had come out on PS3 instead of DS. Why the hell did they expand into so many different consoles and make them all so important to the main story!? What kind of managers do they have running that company?
Well imo expanding the games into different consoles is a "smart business move". They make their money by selling not only the games, but the consoles too for the dedicated fans. Of course, its entirely frustrating for us anyway
@@synaesthesia888 I didn't know that sony and nintendo gave game devs commissions on all consoles sold..... or is it just bundles with KH games in them? Do those bundles even exist? Or is it based on like how many consoles Nintendo or Sony think were attributed to KH? How would they be able to guess that? Unless it's a bundle with the game, I just don't see that being trackable.
I was pretty pissed off that the second half of KH3's plot revolved around the mobile game. Utter pisstake, even if they had the movie version of the events in 2.8
I paid $60 to beat the game in 5 days. KH2 took me weeks. That's playing every day after work and being single. I'm 33 married with two young kids now. Sigh.
Kh1 and Kh2 were better. Those had actual satisfying conclusions. This game felt like more sequel bait than an ending, despite the fact that it was the "conclusion" to an entire saga. The ending world was the shortest we've ever had in any of these games, and the villains got their "one line apologies" while xehanort was treated as some sort of misguided good guy instead of the insane bastard that he was in literally all the other games. The final boss fight itself was too short and underwhelming, especially when compared to Xemnas and Ansem's boss fights. It also doesn't help that Xehanort's new V.A sounded like he couldn't give less of a flying fuck about the role. I don't know how it's possible, but this game that was in development for half a decade, honestly felt rushed, especially with the ending. The story was bad. The disney worlds tried to be relevant, but their only use was introducing the "box" that would only prove to be more sequel bait and the new seven princess which also didn't matter for the story of kh3 since we knew that the 7 guardians would be found regardless. The only true worth in going their was for Sora to learn the "power of waking" which he learned through ventus, so ultimately those disney worlds didn't matter. The game was a giant waste of potential and had the worst pacing out of literally any of the other games in the series. Ultimately, it seemed more like a method for Nomura to throw a temper tantrum about Versus 13 instead of a game dedicated to kingdom hearts. It's a solid 6/10. Also fuck Kairi.
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE It's the conclusion to a major saga that encompassed and was built up by 10 games. It might as well be the conclusion to the whole story at this point. I really hope that Nomura doesn't make the same mistakes for the actual finale of the series, whenever that may be.
if the original team had worked on this, i'm sure they would have concluded all of the unfinished stories from kh2. cloud and sephiroth left on a cliffhanger, beast and belle seemed like they had their conclusion coming. disney was more concerned with advertising their newer movies and corny attraction rides.
The only reasons my wife and I slogged through this adventure was because we were waiting, hoping for something better. Everything left us asking the questions, "Why are we doing this? Why is any of this happening?". The answer? At this point nobody knows. It doesn't seem to about the disney worlds. It doesn't seem to be about the meta story. It doesn't seem to be about the characters. It's just a lot of the same thing happening over and over and learning nothing from it. Can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3.5/2 re X: The Shadows Light.
for like 5+ years i kept picturing KH3 to have a section where you play as sora going thru the Darkworld with Riku looking for Aqua, and that would lead up til the big save for Aqua, i was TERRIBLY dissappointed when Sora freaking instant transmissioned there directly into the fight. they INSTANTLY to Ventus..meh
To me, KH3 was 50% cutscenes, 30% actual gameplay (where maybe 5-10% had actually something to do with Sora), and 20% was gimmicky, extra stuff. (Like the Bistro and shit) I felt like the majority of KH3 was a huge commercial waste.. They put a lot of time and effort putting in stuff like attack commands that mimicks Disneyland rides (for promotional purposes) ((which appeared way too often btw)), and Disney Worlds with huge names such as Tangled and Frozen - with absolutely no coherence or involvement to the plotline following Sora and the gang. Like with the pivotal scene with Elsa and Anna; Sora, Donald and Goofy were just in the background creeping. And whereeee's the strategy..? In certain fights in KH1 and 2 you had to plan ahead with abilities and/or certain equipments for the battle to succeed - or straight up survive. Here's just like... Lemme spin in this teacup
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE Yeah, but I mean... They could've at least included more "meddling" or whatever from the gang - seeing that they were just in the background the whole time. Especially in Frozen. Makes me think that Disney only wanted it there for the $$$
@@marianne9215 I agree 100% that the Tangled and Frozen worlds were just not very good plot-wise. Frozen is especially jarring in this regard. At least in the Tangled world, you still felt like a part of the world. You accompany Rapunzel and Eugene as they head to the kingdom, and you have some fun with them while you're at it. Moreover, you get a proper good-bye from both of them. The world doesn't do much more than that, but at least it's something. You don't have _any_ of that in the Frozen world. While the characters acknowledge your existence, they hardly interact with you. The whole plot plays out as if you never existed. You're just watching from the sidelines the entire time. And, the mini-game with Olaf's body is even worse than the mini-game with the dancing in the kingdom, which was actually enjoyable. That, and the final boss in Frozen makes even less sense than the one in Tangled.
It took me over a month to really come to terms with the reality of KH3. I honestly did not want to accept it. Now im here. Watching this video. And im still hurt by how KH3 turned out.

I really love Kingdom Hearts and I've been playing it since it came out so I was really looking forward to KH3. The reason why I found this video was because I wanted to see if someone shares my disappointment. My first playthrough was on proud because I wanted a challenge, but I felt like I was playing it on normal. The quality of the game still amazes me but thats all I can say was good. The cutscenes were toooooooooooo long, the story was also a disappointment and I feel like their only focus was to get a good-looking game instead of making a rly good story out of it. I agree to all points, you made and I think its sad that this video gets so many dislikes just because you are talking about your opinion which is not a good one obviously. but thx for sharing!
Probably because people don't like overall negativity from someone who doesn't seem to actually like the series as a whole. While there are certainly things they can improve on, KH3 was far from disappointing. It's fine to have an opinion on things it can improve on but just complaining about a game that many MANY other people enjoyed despite its flaws really isn't something fandoms care to sit through.
@@tonyxBAx i actually think that people who started with kh3 instantly without having played the other games, do like kh3. It has good quality overall and the game itself is also good. But fans who played every single part can't see kh3 like that cuz they know something better than this. Fans who were waiting for kh3 for 14 years and instantly pre-ordered the game as soon as they could. They won't be satisfied by pure overall quality. That's what I think.
This is getting a higher percentage of dislikes than videos that treat the game like a log of dog shit. *cough* Dunkey *cough* I gotta ask why. This was a totally fair assessment from a FAN! Me? Did I enjoy the game? Yes. Was it the spectacle we were expecting for over a decade? No.

It is all flash but no substance. This is what bothers me about this game and it is a reminder of what gaming is turning into. I hate that gaming is becoming so mainstream that it feels like getting lunch from the cafeteria at school : bland and prosaic. Also, drive forms were awesome. And no ff characters. Really? In a square enix game. There are more ff characters on forza than kh3 which is very sad.
its really sad when you finally craft the Ultima Weapon, and instead of joy you really just feel emptiness..because there's nothing really left to do with it after Dark Inferno
its a damn shame because the endgame practically writes itself...Mickey points out in the beginning that heartless are much stronger in the Dark realm than the world of light...if they would have made the darkworld a level, they could have made the entire endgame take place there, boost all enemy stats and make difficult trials. simple as that

@draako No, it wasn’t wasted. The HD remixes were essential as they contained important story to set up for KH3. This is why they were released multiple tines. Yes, part of it was for money. But they are also required to fully enjoy KH3. Also I believe Nomura stated in a previous interview that he didn’t want to remaster all of the games if no one was going to buy them. This is why 1.5 and 2.5 were separated. If 1.5 was successful, he would then make 2.5. Although originally I think he didn’t even want to make a 2.5 as he wanted to save time for development on KH3. But due to 1.5’s success, he decided to make 2.5 a thing regardless.
@draako Honestly, I can see those games coming to Xbox in the near future. From what I heard, Nomura said he wanted to port those games to not just Xbox but the switch as well once KH3 was done with. Same goes for any possible KH3 port to the switch.
Same. I was hoping for new songs, outside of the Disney world themes, instead, we got mostly remixes. Feels like this game lacks a lot of the magic and charm that made the others so memorable.
nah fam, i understand the soundtrack letting you down because it doesn't invent new themes for story related content, but i think there's a lot of original music in the gummi map, various disney worlds, etc. and objectively the musical scoring is brilliant.
@@silversauceran Let me put it this way, I love the Dissidia games and their OST's. It's expected that they'd get a lot of remixes and arrangements of classic FF songs with some new pieces. However, with KH3 we got a Dissidia style OST instead of something like we got with KH1, KH2, and other games. Or even with the FFXIII games. Those games reused songs and had tons of new songs. Idk, maybe with the OST my expectations were too high.
I agree with you. I’m more disappointed in the fact that we didn’t get many Yoko Shimomura original pieces. Especially for the last boss fight which was supposed to be a grand battle, but fell so flat that it felt like it had no impact. I wanted to get that nice Yoko-style music with the violins, pianos, and grand score to let you that THIS is KH3 and shit was gonna go down. But for me, I didn’t feel that from the soundtrack. Takeharu just did a lot of remixes that didn’t feel good to me. It was so disappointing...
One thing you didn't mention but I will. The complete removal of Final Fantasy characters from Kingdom Hearts 3. People didn't like the game just for the Disney characters, but the ones relating to Final Fantasy as well.
This game kinda disapointed me but I can understand how the people who loved this game feels and what they see in it. We have different opinions and experiences and that's ok.
I agree! I'm not here to tell anyone they're wrong for liking this game, I just wanted to talk about my personal experience with it. I know people who loved the game are going to be mad at me for being mean to KH3, and I wish people wouldn't take criticism of this series so personally, but oh well.
@emna I’m glad you understand. Seriously, I couldn’t tell you how many people who have called me out for liking the game lol. It’s a little depressing honestly.
It's the other way around for me. I liked it but i can understand wgy other people , especially long time fans, don't like it. It is very flawed but i still had way too much fun to call it bad or dissapointing personally.
I think that the main problem with KH3 is - along with what you said - that the game retconed what the whole series made. I mean, Axel's sacrifice, the whole plot with Roxas and the first part of KH2, Xion, the sacrifice of Aqua to protect Terra, the origin of Ansem and Xemnas, the build-up to those main villains... What was done in Caste Oblivions. All of that is pointless with KH3. Axel is back, Xion and Roxas too, Xemnas and Ansem are just subpart vilain without any form of will, Marluxia has no more personnal goal, The BBS trio is back together like nothing happened even if verything happened ten years ago. Really ? DDD's plot was really bad, but it is even worse with KH3.
Jepp. And don't forget all those stupid conversations. Kairi meets Aqua and she doesn't even bother asking where she met her. It's so unbeleavable and a Bad fan fiction.
Yeah, that's what bothered me most about this game. Undoing everyone's sacrifices. I don't even feel anything when listening to Xion's theme anymore cause now I know despite her tragedy she'll just come back to life outta nowhere in 3. This game ruined KH for me.
@@madnessembodied2473 KH3: 99% of what happened before was meaningless. I really hopeed Xion would just stay forgotten or no more than being remembered again.I kinda hoped terra would help sora defeat terranort and let his; some day i will set this right mean something. I think that would have been nice. Someday, but not now.
I see a lot of people saying that Disney was being difficult about their content and that made the Disney Worlds lackluster and while I completely agree, it's gonna be a moot point if we do not actually speak up and make a point about it to Disney. Because they are just going to do it again in the next KH.
But at that point most fans don't care anymore. All I ever wanted was KH3 and if this is what they do today with games, I'd rather be not a gamer anymore. It sucks.
yeah you're not alone, I think a lot of people were disappointed at the results of this game. After 10 years of being spoon fed handheld experiments that either went no where or only confused any story elements what so ever, its no surprise that the fan base is saying that this isn't good enough. the game is pretty but its lacking a lot of what we loved.
At least in KH2 reaction commands had negative consequences if you did not react to them. Either you have a high potential to take damage or loose out on out positioning. KH3 is way more than a button masher than KH2 is or was ever critizied as being back in the day.
Cant say that for the frozen boss though. But then again, even if you reacted to the ball that boss threw at the party the boss wouldn't even take damage.
You mean, spam Triangle with no consequences? They were a visual spectacle, but they were one of the most brain dead mechanics. In some cases such as Cerberus in KH2, you're better off actually being hit by one of it's attacks because it puts you in a reaction command situation that stuns the boss, and all you have to do is spam the shit out of your triangle button. This comment is ironic on so many levels.
Razhork I am not saying it isn’t brain dead. However I am saying that RCs are less brain dead than situation commands. Spam fire at a bunch of enemies to get an AoE, spam different magics to get a lot of AoEs. Real complex. Your agruement is just as easy, if not easier to apply to KH3.
@@TheKrypticCode the only time the reaction commands in KH2 needed a 0roper timing were doing the Xembas boss fight and some of the data battles. Now compare that to KH3 where there are a lot fewer of them in boss fights which I prefer since there's more of a chance for the player to use the wide variety of options available. In short I'd rather be spamming magic than waiting on a triangle button prompt to show up. And let's not pretend that KH2 was wasn't an X button spammer. Magic in that game was not as well utilized and reflect made a lot of boss fights much easier. Yes KH3 needs work on its difficulty but it compensates for the ridiculous amount of combat options it gives you to play with. At no point was I using the same keyblade the whole game.
KH 1 is my favorite. I love the fact that it compliments classic Disney the most, and jazzy traverse town kicks the hell out of twilight town. It's class makes it a classic
As a long time fan, KH1 and 2 blew me away. Never expected any of what occurred and I was so hooked that I probably played both those games a dozen times or more, unlocking new items and side quests, etc. When KH3 was announced, of course my heart exploded. I truthfully didn't play all of the side games since KH2 but played a few to grasp the gist of the overall story. When KH3 came out, I sank into it and was impressed by the graphics, the updated combat, but found myself quickly kind of like "Um...that's it?". The lack of worlds, the absence of FF characters, items, side quests, etc bummed me out. It was as if most of the core of the series was stripped away to just "complete this game and move on". I haven't touched the game since I beat it in January, which to me, says A LOT.
@@yoster39 did you bring yourself to play through it first? i barely could, both the story and combat bored me from start to finish. even the gummi ship battles were terrible. i had so much fun with the gummi missions in 2, not sure how so many people think it's better in 3. in 3 every battle is identical and it's set up like an old, generic arcade shoot em up. not sure how anyone found that more fun that the large variety of amazing missions in one. i would get so addicting to it in 2, spending hours building ships and trying to 100% the different missions. in 3 it was so lame i wished they had just left it out entirely.
@@Jack_80 at a certain point I was just bearing the game waiting for it to get good, we all know kh has those moments when it's bad but... That moment is whe whole game here
@Andrés Francia i'm sure he'll find some way to majorly screw up ff7 remake, but like you said most won't be bothered by it. with the absurd anount of hype, it could be 100 times worse than kh3 and many would still praise it and act like we're idiots for being disappointed by it. it's like hype brainwashes many to the point where the quality of the end product no longer matters.
Nomura has let down more people than you can possibly imagine. Hyping the Kingdom Hearts remakes to Kingdom Hearts 3 was the biggest scam I have ever seen. Leading a franchise to a filler story with characters that have ZERO development.
The Osaka team ruined KH3's combat. I'm not sure whether Nomura or Disney is mostly to blame for the crap story, though. I'd say everything that sucked about the Disney stories was Disney's fault, and everything that sucked about the original story was Nomura's fault. Like most of the people here, I still deeply enjoyed it, but I knew long ago that this game would NOT be KH2, even before we ever saw the first concept trailer. DDD and Coded took away all the mystery of what this game would be about, and all the trailers spoiled everything else. I knew it wasn't going to be nearly as good as KH2, and honestly, that really helped to curb a lot of the disappointment on my first playthrough, and it allowed me to enjoy the game for what it was without getting caught up in what was lacking. That being said, Square Enix still botched this one bigtime. True, it's better than nearly all of the interim games as a complete package, but that's not the standard we should be judging it by. For as much buildup as this game had, not only in terms of the years of waiting but also in terms of the endless supplementary stories that were leading up to it, this should have been something monumental, and it fell really flat. I cried a lot at the ending just because of the catharsis of the reunions, and I really did think it was great, but the ending should not have been the only part of the game like that-it should have been like that throughout the game. It should have been sweeping, grand, epic, and world-shattering, but instead everything of importance was just relegated to the Keyblade Graveyard, one of the most boring worlds in the series, and few of the characters were treated with any modicum of care, respect, or imagination. I've had months to stew over this game, and my conclusion is that it's a really good game, but that's still so far below what this particular game should have been. It should have been perfect. Now, having read all the early warning signs made it so I wouldn't be as deeply impacted by the disappointment as many others were, but that doesn't change the fact that the destination absolutely did not justify the journey.
I thought certain scenes were just somewhat awkward. Why do they need to exaggerate on the friendship power as it was the ultimate energy of the universe? I just think that KH2 is the best also because is more grounded. I really don't like how certain scenes reminds me a show for 5 year old children. Thing that I don't remember on KH2. Ok, it is a game with Disney worlds, I don't think scenes should be idiot though, with the power of heart and little lights over people's chests. Anyway, it seems that KH2 is the definitive KH game. All the mistery around Roxas, the search for Riku and Kairy around Disney worlds. The mistery around Ansem and Xeanorth without everyone being Xeanorth and things getting exaggerated. kH2 is grounded, the features present are just on point and not to say that there's more and it's bigger. I wish on next games they don't make certain things appear awkward but interesting as in KH2.
I agree, in kh1-2 sora was a great character, he didn't understand anything, nothing was put out to him on a silver platter, he was quite literally an idiot and it wasn't his fault. when dream drop distance came, we had seen that while sora did have his goofy moments, he also had grown, had matured, and I was excited to see how he would react to the same situations in the past games differently in kh3, but it turns out sora is a complete idiot, and it was his fault. Come on square enix, he lost his powers not his intelligence
tbh sora has always been written in a weird way, even moreso than the other characters. he didn't feel like himself in ddd either. 1 and com are actually the only games in which i think he's a good character
My biggest problem with KH3 can be summed up in the ending. Holy crap the ending felt SO rushed and so underwhelming, there was just WAY too much stuff going on and WAY too many characters thrown in at the last minute which created a really incoherent story. I know this game may be trying to make everyone happy by giving each character their own conclusion but it's really not, and if you have to push characters aside so that others can be focused on, then that's a sign you have too many. Every time I play this game I'm always blown away by how many things had potential, fan favorites Aqua and Roxas were teased really early on, Axel was given a Keyblade and was going to be a good guy, Kairi wasn't going to be useless anymore, and every hero and villain that fans grew to love would make a comeback in this big epic finale. I have no problem with all this stuff that they wanna put in this game, but it all really suffers under it's own weight... We're trying to give all these characters their own screen time and give them a satisfying reunion/conclusion but the only way for any of them to get their own screen time is for others to be pushed aside, now that's not a good formula for giving us moments with each character. Which is REALLY apparent when you think about how this game practically sneezed Roxas and Xion at us at the very end only to be wrapped up in a quick 2 minute action sequence and a brief cutscene of them crying just so the next lot of characters can be focused on, same with Terra and the BBS cast, AND all the villains. Such a disappointing payoff for what promised to be a really emotional and powerful scene. I would've rather them cut this stuff out and worked it's way in through DLC's or even saved for a future game if it meant having a satisfying conclusion for an otherwise fantastic game. I'm serious, I actually have no problem with the rest of this game, sure there are a few little tippets here and there but other than that I think the game looks beautiful and they did a much better job this time around at making the Disney worlds feel a lot more open and alive (Like ACTUAL npcs this time around HOLY CRAP!!) and I particularly enjoyed the Toy Story and the Pirates sections. But like I said, what brings the whole thing down for me is the ending, I just felt like they didn't live up to everything that they had been building up to at that point. If this game had little more time to flesh out it's story and give each character a little more screen time then this could've easily have been the best game in the series. But as it is, it's just another solid entry in the KH franchise that doesn't fully reach the level of epicness that KH2 did. What a shame...
J0yb0y I honestly liked 100 Acre Wood in the past games. At least the mini games had variety and you could actually visit other areas. 100 Acre Wood was very short. I think it was even a harsher downgrade than Twilight Town, to the point that I actually wouldn’t mind collecting the pages throughout the worlds all over again
@@olly.speaks i agree... It's like there's nothing bad happens in the 100 acre woods... And the only thing they made is pooh searching for honey. Yes, they talked abot their friendship, but it's just a bit and a pinky size
@@SateLight Now, I find this "conflict" in 100 Acre Wood to be quite shallow or non-existant. Sora wasn't on the cover of the book, so meaning something must have happened. When we enter the world, it seems like Pooh has forgotten Sora, but he remembered him immediately just a couple seconds after. Everyone else clearly remembers Sora at first sight of him, so meaning Pooh didn't have anything major like amnesia, which was my theory at first. Played through the minigames, got Pooh some honey at got Sora back on the cover. Sora told Merlin that he was concerned about his friends forgetting about him, even though that didn't exactly happen...
@@SateLight If I remember correctly, Pooh did actually have amnesia in KH2, because the pages were missing. I don't really know what they were doing here in KH3.
Everything up to Re:coded was ok. Like everything made sense in a way if you followed all the games up to Recoded. DDD is what changed the direction of the series.
@@lukamagicc yeah don't pay too much thought to this guy, he's just been going around defending the KH3 title, which is fine, but he's on the wrong page, you can't encourage people to like the game by saying YOU like it, if that's not what you're trying to do then we get it, you like KH3 DetectiveXigBraigBobbyFulbrightTheSpiritofJUSTICE . And KH3 "let your heart be your guiding key" is cringier than any KH2 cutscene ever made.
@jack I mean, I never said his opinion was wrong. And I’m not forcing the guy to like the game lol. Like you said, you can’t encourage people to like the game because I like it.
I couldn't agree more with you. KH3 is easily one of the most disappointing installments in a series I loved while I was growing up. I'm utterly astounded that a game can be both so basic and clunky and simultaneously frustrating as hell to play. Instead of appealing to longtime fans, their target audience was clearly kids who just wanted to see their favorite Disney movies like Frozen transformed into game format. I hate how the developers did NOTHING to tweak Frozen's or Tangled's plots to fit with the themes of KH. Oh, and don't even get me started on the absence of FF characters...removing a key element to the franchise wasn't a good move. That's even more proof to me that the developers were appealing to a less mature audience. I think my favorite point that you made is 'WHY does any of this matter and why do we care?' I asked myself that over and over while I played the game and hit DNF because I felt too old to keep playing. It wasn't just the unsophisticated controls and lack of agency over the special attacks that annoyed me, it was the lack of heart (pun intended) and how as a longtime fan, I felt alienated. A younger kid will probably love KH3's bright graphics, the borderline silly, confetti-doused special attacks, button mashing for a luck-driven win, comically overdone bosses with no meaning -- but a more mature and thoughtful fan will feel totally lost here. I firmly believe that KH3 should never have even been made. Sorry that so many white knights down-voted, because you're absolutely right on all points.
Alexa S. That was a really good summary. It's been almost half a year since the game came out and I am still frustrated over it. One part of me wants to make a point to square enix and sell it. The other part still hopes that the upcoming dlc will fix some of this mess. I should know by now what to expect. When I See what it's in the DLC, I also Kind of hope that if it Turms out to be underwhelming, I'll have all the conviction I need to kiss it good bye
Same dude. I definitely felt a little betrayed after playing this gameand tbh I don't even know who to blame. Disney obviously had their part in this disaster (the let it go complete remake was a clear example), but story wise nomura didn't even try to make anything satisfying. Like we wasted a ton of time on those cutscenes after the worlds were beaten on plot points that either resolved at the end in like a single 1 minute scene, or like in Kairi and axles case, was for nothing because they didnt do shit. And I legit bought a ps4 just for this game. Im not buying any dlc and I damn sure am not throwing a penny at that cashgrab mobile game.
It felt completely satisfying to me. Sure, everything wasn’t perfect, but i thought it did a great job concluding Xehanort, the Wayfinder and sea salt trios.
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE dude I mean this in the most non derogatory way possible but Ive read 4th grade books that have had more conclusive endings. Ironically it was that year that i learned how to write a basic narrative. I was able to clear through that entire end game in less than 4 hours with a starlight keyblade. Kairi and axles training for the entire game was filler. Consiquentially that was half of the cutscenes after we beat worlds, and it didnt even pay off. Zion just appears out of nowhere when she was supposed to be in sora's heart, roses randomely escapes, Venus randomely escapes, aqua is somehow weaker than sora and terra can literally slay everyone single handedly. And to add insult to injury every villain except for vanitus(who is all the sudden weak Af) appologizes and was never REALLY a bad guy. Like when xehanort gave sora the keyblad I almost threw my controller at the screen. All of that just for a "oh you're right, my bad". Gtfoh.
Completely disagree with everything you said. M Xion WAS in Sora’s heart. It’s just when Xemnas kicked her into Sora where her heart went back inside of her. Before that, she was just a replica of Xion. Also none of the villains apologized lol. Same goes for Xehanort. People need to realize that Xehanort In fact was NEVER pure evil. His entire end game was to bring balance to both light and darkness, which is a thing that’s been known since BBS. And once Sora defeated him, he gave up and realized he couldn’t beat Sora. After that, he gave Sora the X-Blade and said “very well done”. Personally, I thought that was the best ending for Xehanort they could have done.
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE bro I played all of the games and idk what you're talking about when it comes to Zion and even if my memory is foggy she was just there in this game with no explanation. Also yeah the organization members did lol. And bs xehanort was all about the darkness even in bbs. And if you disagree with everything i said im waitong to hear about the rest. Like the filler bs and Kairi and Axel. Im particularly curious on your thoughts on that. I mean there was literally no mid game.
I will agree with the filler bs the game had. But Xion’s thing was explained in the secret reports from the post game. And were apparently going to get more information about her through the upcoming dlc. And no, the organization members didn’t apologize. They were given redeeming moments yes, but none of them said “I’m sorry”, with the exception of Saix. And no, Xehanort was not all about darkness. In the Xehanort reports, he clearly states that he wants to bring balance to both light and darkness. If you didn’t read those, you then missed on some important information.
Even in proud mode the game was fairly easy. Gummy Ship travel still sucks. Story Lacked substance as well even after more than a decade of development. WTF happened ???
I mean, I guess you could argue that for all of the KH games are like that lol. A nostalgia cash grab. Only difference is that it has its own unique story within it. The thing with KH3 though is that a lot of that unique story was saved for the end. Which I agree was a little disappointing
Kingdom hearts 3 problems... Small twilight town No final fantasy characters Way to easy No jobs and skateboarding Way to short compared to 2 and 1 You can’t explore the end world Wasted map potential, especially an fransico The ending was was not worth it for what the game was 30$ to access what should had been in the base game.... really bruh What happened to struggle battles? Way to much disney Honestly I am a die hard kingdom hearts fan who puts kingdom hearts 2 as his favorite rpg of all time, but honestly it’s a huge disappointment to 2, especially with all the missing content
It's sad to see how the story and narrative went downhill after KH1. It used to actually be pretty simple: There's a natural order to the universe, the heartless are fucking that order up. As the wielder of the only thing that can kill the heartless (for good), you must go to different worlds, respect the prime directive, purge the heartless and prevent them from destroying more worlds. Thing is KH1 actually had nuance. As the series went on though it seems like the nuance was replaced by complexity, and complexity isn't inherently interesting.
@@lloydirving6209 I think SE for a long time has been trying to be this movie video game production company. The problem is they never got out of the PS2 episode in game development while everyone else has long since moved forward. What they need is focus and to bring in people who truly specialize in cinematic and long form storytelling to work with their people. Heck maybe invest in some mocap and actors for all these cutscenes. Also cut scenes really need to be shorter. There is nothing interesting about seeing people sit and do nothing for 10 minutes repeating dialogue. Again other studios have solved this. They just have character talk as they got the next destination. After this they need a clean slate. No Roxas, Aqua, or that one person. Org 13 is done, it's over. Nix the uniform. Disney might need to go as well. Keep Donald/Goofy(or bring in some new sidekicks). KH needs freedom but also a lot of checks.
Nostalgia kept KH my favorite game series for over a decade, even when I slowly lost interest over the years with all the convoluted additions to the plot. KH3 finally smacked some sense into me that this is one of the most terrible story I’ve ever experienced in any form of media. I’d say KH would be dead to me if it weren’t for the countless good childhood memories, music, and some of the characters, but it’s definitely at the bottom of my tier list now. I won’t be buying the next installment day 1 like I usually do anymore, I don’t trust that they’ll put out an enjoyable game after this travesty and in hindsight, a couple of previous titles too.
I feel the same way to an extent but I disagree. Sure kh3 is trash but 1 and 2 offer something amazing in their own right..1 has the great story that anyone could follow. Darkness and all that felt so simple at the time but it didnt feel like it tried to be bigger than it was. Kh2 the story got weird but still pulled at one's attention. The gameplay improved drastically. Kh3 is the only LET DOWN in every aspec aside from graphics
@@deathseekergibbsy yeah those are my favorite 3 by far. was surprised at how much i loved re chain once i finally mustered up the patience to learn and pretty much master it. it's way more fun and addictive than 3 and the story is far more interesting, and surprisingly even the voice acting in rechain is far superior to 3. luckily it's easy to act like it ends with kh2 because nothing in 3 was even remotely memorable to me.
You perferctly described my experience with this game. If my nostalgia wasn't there till the day I played it, I would have dropped this game very fast. Any yeah it made me realise how truly awful the story actually is!

Good review Key highlights i found really important -Yes I agree that there are people who are happy KH3 was disappointing to them and took it as validation for their past dislike of the whole franchises but like you I'm not one of them. Kh3 makes me sad because I'm such a fan and really didn't want to be disappointed by this which makes it all the more depressing. - Thank you for clearing up the point defenders always get wrong about the Disney worlds complaints. No it's not about them not being important to the story it's about sora not being important to the disney worlds. For that's the whole point of a crossover. Having these different characters have unique interactions with these characters from other properties. If we can't get something unique from this that we can't get outside it then what's the point of it, it defeats the whole point of a crossover. KH isn't special anymore if we can just go watch movies instead and get the same experience. And that's not even including the complete absence of FF characters which hurts its "crossover" status even further Good review. I agree with many of ur points and might use some if ur scenes if you'll allow it later in my review I'm making. Hope you'll watch it
BSK The King idk about you but: -I felt pretty important saving Olympus from the titans and protecting Greece -felt pretty important helping Rapunzel achieve her life-long ambition -felt important helping woody and buzz further their search in helping discover the mystery behind their friends disappearance -felt pretty important preventing Randall and Vanitas taking over Monstropolis -felt pretty important saving Jack and crew multiple times in pirates, as well as beating Davy Jones, as well as securing his ship -felt pretty important teaching BH6 how to tackle the heartless threat. 5/6 worlds I felt pretty important in... not bad really
The only World were we didn't get to do Shit that involves other Disney Charakters is Frozens World. We just killed that big Wolf Heartless and nothing more but we were important to the other Worlds and some of them weren't even in there Movie Timeline(Toy Story and Monsters Inc. for example)
@@BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE well atleast kh2 always gave you the reaction command you needed...kh3 would tell you you need to use something and not give it to you.
They had over a decade to perfect this game and got our hope's up so high only to let us down. Some parts were enjoyable but it was really REALLY bad with the pacing, like the Disney world were absolutely pointless.
DDD was released in 2012 so they didn't have over a decade and apart from that, they had to focus on final fantasy that was released in 2015, so the main production took 3 years and not 10
It's literally the same thing that happened with Final Fantasy 15. Spent a decade on it and the only thing good about it was the graphics, scenery, and voice acting.
me, a few days after release: 'THIS IS EVERYTHING IVE EVER WANTED YAAAAASS!!!' me, a month laster: 'i should probably go back and do that last battle. meh.' kh3 really just... didnt feel as fun. never switched off of kingdom key because i didnt care about the transformations.
This game was super disappointing. And the voice acting was so TERRIBLE. To new fans it might be good but for the rest of us who waited 12 years it was not worth it
Bau Cap. Bruh just shut up he’s clearly a fan and you’re just saying shit that don’t even relate to what he said. The game is called KH3, what else would he refer to, nobody calls bbs and ddd kh 3 and 4 you sound lame as hell
@Bau Cap. boy, you sure are a dumbass. I didn't even say anything about the release date of the games and here you are spouting gibberish. You're so delusional.
What bugged me the most, was the god awful pacing, like you mentioned in the video. Would it have been so bad, to for example rescue Aqua somewhat earlier, and have her rest? After the next world we could have saved Ventus, and taken our time with him resting, or even anything else, so not only the last 5h this game are relevant?
it hurts, but KH2 was a much better sequel than KH3 was..it felt much fuller, the story was still absolute hype IMO. KH3 kinda felt like a big shell to that
The worlds in kh2 were my least favorite aspect, just really big hallways and empty spaces. Not to mention having cutscenes every 5 seconds. Kh3 has a similar problem with too many cutscenes (that’s KH in general) but I felt the worlds were much more open and populated. They felt way more alive than the beasts enchanted empty castle and the savannah with a total of 10 lions. Not to be harsh but I feel kh2 gets way too many nostalgia points. Yes the combat is better but that’s it gameplay wise.
@@Gamelover254 Yeah what you said is right but KH2 is mainly considered to be the better game is because the ending is literally perfect which makes the rest of the experience look positive. The ending of KH2 makes me forget the painful slog through the corridors. KH3 is good too but the rest of the game with an unsatisfying (to many people)ending makes it worse.
One of the biggest letdowns to me was removing the triangle commands from KH2. Stunning the enemy and pressing triangle to doing major dmg... Pressing triangle to pick up the enemy weapon (or the enemy himself) and whacking at them... Entering a duel with a samurai nobody and pressing triangle correctly to win the duel or receive major dmg... These interactions were some of the most fun I had in KH2. BUT who needs that? Replace it with ATTRACTIONS! Just WHACK them with DISNEY RIDES! That's more fun.. no?...
The reaction commands are a staple with the Tokyo devs and they developed KH1 and KH2. All the handheld titles were dev'd by the Osaka team and for some god forsaken reason they let the Osaka team dev KH3 which is why the game plays like BBS. But I feel your pain I felt the same way.
That feature was really unnecessary. It feels it was invented for children who have been to Disney World before and have fun using a ride in game? Well 8 year olds would probably lose if it wasn't for the Disney rides.
1. You can turn off attractions from ever appearing. 2. Reaction commands are "the game plays itself". They are fun to watch but how can they be fun to play?
Roi Itzkovich Reaction commands gave cinematic flair and depth to combat situations equating to a more fun gameplay experience considering that there’s a unique reaction command for most enemies whether it was offensive or defensive. As for attractions being turned off they weren’t able to be turned off at the time these comments were made.
@@qr5393 So are you saying that you like more spectacle than gameplay? Are you also saying that if a game wasn't good at launch it will NEVER be good? Don't forget that KH2 vanilla wasn't well balanced because enemies did 25% less damage than final mix and you earned 25% more XP than critical (an enemy that gave you 800 XP in final mix, gave you 1000 XP on vanilla). It's sad to see the KH community and how unprofessional it is. Go check Bizkit047's review. He is a KH speedrunner and my insperation to become a KH speedrunner myself. Even some the issues Bizkit047 had with the game were patched or are simply subjective (like how he dislikes gimmicks such as the giga mechs and the ship combat but I love both). Let's put it this way: I can counter EVERY issue this video presents but you don't want it because it will be LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!
"lacking content" and "missing content" are synonymous. And yes, KH3 felt unfinished compared to KH1 and KH2, this one when I played it, it really felt like it was rushed. Not a lot of thought put in the gameplay. They focused too much on the cutscenes.
We were expecting more worlds.... Armour costumes for sora making your own keyblade.. More playable characterz.. Look I could go on and on but nobody listens to the fans.
Well since they concluded this long arch storyline I hope in the next game that we will get those expansive things the fans want. Since the story's not bound to defeating him anymore

"The game should've been as good as a 14 year old PS2 game"
This is literally what I have been saying since I beat it.
Good man.
Exactly. Why would I be satisfied with a game that is just a straight up downgrade of a decade old game?
@@HyveMindsGames Ya know, it's funny, people told me that that's a ridiculous argument. They never explained why, but they did.
But people also told me that the game's great if you don't see it as a finale, so I don't know how seriously I wanna take people.
Also your video's great. Just wanted to say that.
Thanks man, glad you liked it!

KH3 definitely has the weakest story out of the mainline games, I can agree. But i didn’t think it was bad.
It doesn't even look that nice :'''( KH2 remastered/final mix/2.5 had much better character renderings. ... Herc especially bothered me in KH3 his proportions were all off. Oh, and Donald, what even. Ironically, KH3's story feels rushed.
That’s probably because of the pacing.
True, but I think they also meant how, for instance, Scala ad Caelum was cut in development
pacing was dog shit, worst in series for me
@Mahadeo is that really any different from every game post-KH2 though?
@@thedenalski4038 It really does seem like it was cut from the game, it seems like a really expansive area with lots of platforming to be used as a boss arena. perhaps it was originally meant to be explore-able but was cut due to the game being rushed for 2019.
I really hate how useless Kairi and Aqua were in the game and how Axel literally became a comic relief character. Oh and no Final Fantasy at all? Like...really? They've been in every KH game right?

I feel like KH1 was the ONLY game in the series where going through the Disney worlds made sense and it wasnt just 100% useless filler
Similair thing for Monstro
And in Agrabah Maleficent kicked off the plot and Sora and crew were just there to fight the heartless really.
But yeah, each world had some kind of change to them or the story itself got kicked off by someone who was not there originally.
Kingdom Hearts 2 it kind of made sense at least for the new worlds. The old worlds it felt kind of bland though.
Kh2 felt better in a different way to me. Maybe just the choice of worlds
Technically you werent wrong about KH 3 only having 2 disney bosses because the titans arent part of KH3. They are part of KH 2.9
They've played them self
Know what I hated the most about the game. Bringing back EVERYONE who died or disappeared on the previous games kinda invalidates their whole tragic stories.
Tad Load Final Fantasy characters.
I mean, that’s why this entire game exists in The first place. To defeat Xehanort and bring back the fallen heroes
I'm fine with defeating Xehanort and bringing back Aqua, Terra and Ven. The problem was when they brought back Xion and Roxas.

"At least I have KH2." And that is how I made my peace with KH3. It disappointed me to such an extent that I decided to label it as an alternate universe and declared KH2 the real ending of the series for me.

@@tacticstories7159 I can be at peace with that
I feel like this game was dumbed down for people new to the series. The devs probably did not trust the long time fans to remember what happened in the "plot” of the previous installments, due to half the time in the cutscenes was just characters explaining what was going on in the last game. I played this game without skipping anything and all I could think was, "yes I know, I saw that happen in that game, why explain it when we already saw it”
Zebul Devil Right?! I was so stupid and watched previous games online to have Full impact of what comes next. It was just a full impact of NOTHING!
Also most of the stuff I liked in KH3 was the Disney stuff & even some of that was disappointing in certain ways they did things.
...how lmao union x was literally heavily related but didnt hold your hand at all explaining lol
Yup focusing on what happened in past games instead of dropping hints about the Foretellers, Daybreak Town and the danger that is the encroaching darkness.
But don't tell Nomura that he just thinks you all were waiting for 3 without going through to play previous games to refresh your memory.

@Stand up to the Comment Section kh3 combat will NEVER be on the same level as kh2's combat.
Xanek V lol what?
Can we talk about how pete and maleficent found pandora's box in Olympus and then *nothing happened?*
I was like "Oh boy, can't wait until we come back to this world and fight whatever challenges pop out of it!"

I was wondering the same thing playing the game, but the credits rolled and nothing happened.
dandeentremont I KNOW RIGHT?! 😖
dandeentremont It could be DLC.
They said it wasnt the box they were looking for and left. It was just a Greek mythology joke
I guess I was in denial when I was first playing. I really was excited for this and really wanted to like it too but your summary pretty much speaks my thoughts..
Exactly how I was
I’ll be honest.
@kass While I don’t see it as a let down, i can agree with everything you said.
Same smhhhh I was soooooo hyped. I even got the GameStop advertisement prop to go in my room. Funko pop dolls and all.....for. Just this???? Smh
"Go train with Hercules" was a good start....
"Go to fuckville out of nowhere to watch Elsa sing" was a terrible continuation.
Where was "Go to Neverland and learn to fly again, you'll need it to defeat Xehanort".
Where was "Go to Arielle to learn how to swim properly, It may come in handy."
Where was "Meet up with Cid in Hollow Bastion, he might be able to help us with upgrading the ship."
Where was "Find Aladdin, Genie's help could become important in other worlds and we need him."
Where was "Visit Leon, maybe he can help patch up your memory in Hollow Bastion / Radiant Garden."
And no, I don't take "They were in a hurry, they couldn't learn all these things!" as an excuse.

You are right, this game has about 25 hours of gameplay for the main story. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 both had 40 at least.

It wasn’t supposed to be a conclusion though. To Xehanort yes, but not the entire story as a whole.
True, but it was already confirmed years ago this wouldn’t be the last game. I honestly didn’t expect a true TRUE conclusion.

Yes yes. Damn Kairi.
KH3 is the equivalent of the season finale of Game of Thrones
So much potential and built up story, thrown away :(
if the original team had worked on this, i'm sure they would have concluded all of the unfinished stories from kh2. cloud and sephiroth left on a cliffhanger, beast and belle seemed like they had their conclusion coming. disney was more concerned with advertising their newer movies and corny attraction rides.

CrowPiper I agree 100%. So rushed I couldn't even understand what the hell was going on.
To me, KH3 was 50% cutscenes, 30% actual gameplay (where maybe 5-10% had actually something to do with Sora), and 20% was gimmicky, extra stuff. (Like the Bistro and shit)
I felt like the majority of KH3 was a huge commercial waste..
Tangled and Frozen WERE involved in the plot. They hinted towards the ending.

@MisAnthro Pony If Kingdom Hearts 2 was easy on critical mode, then Kingdom Hearts 3 was even easier. I completed both so I know.
@amir He’s referring to the fact that other games were made after KH2. You weren’t waiting for KH3 for 15 years. You were anticipating.

Its even more button smasher than KH 1!!!!! o.O

I truthfully didn't play all of the side games since KH2 but played a few to grasp the gist of the overall story. When KH3 came out, I sank into it and was impressed by the graphics, the updated combat, but found myself quickly kind of like "Um...that's it?".
Sora didn’t even feel like sora I felt like I was playing a completely different character
:/ What?
Ok seriously, what????
tbh sora has always been written in a weird way, even moreso than the other characters. he didn't feel like himself in ddd either. 1 and com are actually the only games in which i think he's a good character
DDD was the worst, I can agree with that. But KH3 really fixed him if you ask me.
KH2 Sora is still my favorite though.
This has to be the stupidest sentence here yet.
Thought i was the only one but it’s only like 70% of the time i feel like that
My biggest problem with KH3 can be summed up in the ending.
Too bad they made 3 pooh's mini games, BUT THEY'RE JUST THE SAME THING
@@olly.speaks well, the story is (spoiler alert)
Pooh just missed sora so hard that he became hungry because of it
Square Enix spoiled too much before release, the hype died down...

i had to actively start avoiding every kh video cause of them
All of those spin-offs doomed Kingdom Hearts 3. They had to try to tie all of those stories into KH3, and it ended up being a convoluted mess.
It just keeps getting messier too
Once time travel entered the arena all bets were off
Lol, it's been a convoluted mess since KH2, pretty much...let's not kid ourselves.
Nonsensical rubbish absolutely impossible to follow. *sigh*
Everything up to Re:coded was ok. Like everything made sense in a way if you followed all the games up to Recoded. DDD is what changed the direction of the series.
Imagine me waiting 13 years just to skip every cringe cutscene because its so damn unbearable.
Dude, KH2’s cutscenes were even worse. You should have expected the cringy cutscenes
DetectiveXigBraigBobbyFulbrightTheSpiritofJUSTICE magikarpusedfly made a good example of why the cutscenes are terrible, big difference
@@lukamagicc yeah don't pay too much thought to this guy, he's just been going around defending the KH3 title, which is fine, but he's on the wrong page, you can't encourage people to like the game by saying YOU like it, if that's not what you're trying to do then we get it, you like KH3 DetectiveXigBraigBobbyFulbrightTheSpiritofJUSTICE

@@zerek1726 alright weeb. Looks like my comment made you pretty upset lmao
> I've played every game
> I understand everything in the story
Choose one.
Xion WAS in Sora’s heart.
Really? I thought the gummies ship was great. It was actually 6 years of development too, not a decade.
Gummi ship and keyblade upgradea were great!
I loved the gummi missions. Don't say it's easy until youve played it on level 1
The majority of KH3 felt like chess piece storytelling.
Character goes here. Character does this. Character says that. Pawn to King four (P-K4).

KHIII in one word; "Eh."
@PerrySport SE needs to stop putting Nomura at the helm of these projects
From now on to me the series will end at KH2, so all my subsequent playthroughs from now will be KH1, Re:CoM, and KH2.

Honestly, if the story was better i could have overlooked all the other flaws of this game. But it wasn't so i see the game less favourable than i wanted to. I would still give this game 3 out of 5 stars though
My biggest complaints were really Kairi and the pacing. But overall? I didn’t think the story was bad.

Good review
Key highlights i found really important
-Yes I agree that there are people who are happy KH3 was disappointing to them and took it as validation for their past dislike of the whole franchises but like you I'm not one of them.
And that's not even including the complete absence of FF characters which hurts its "crossover" status even further
Good review. I agree with many of ur points and might use some if ur scenes if you'll allow it later in my review I'm making. Hope you'll watch it
BSK The King idk about you but:
-I felt pretty important saving Olympus from the titans and protecting Greece
-felt pretty important helping Rapunzel achieve her life-long ambition
-felt important helping woody and buzz further their search in helping discover the mystery behind their friends disappearance
-felt pretty important preventing Randall and Vanitas taking over Monstropolis
-felt pretty important saving Jack and crew multiple times in pirates, as well as beating Davy Jones, as well as securing his ship
-felt pretty important teaching BH6 how to tackle the heartless threat.
I hated when I died and the game would say to use a certain special attack with triangle🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
KH2 had similar tips ya know... 😂
As a long fan of this series I personally liked the game and enjoyed it but you made some good points here I can't lie Man good video tho!

@Bau Cap. boy, you sure are a dumbass.
KH3 kinda felt like a big shell to that
Lol kh3 is much better. 2 is so basic compared to this one. This has better gameplay, world's and quality.
xmish16 you wish
@kelm it is his opinion
I don’t get how it feels “unfinished”. It just lacks content. There’s a difference between something lacking content and “missing” content.
"lacking content" and "missing content" are synonymous. And yes, KH3 felt unfinished compared to KH1 and KH2, this one when I played it, it really felt like it was rushed. Not a lot of thought put in the gameplay. They focused too much on the cutscenes.
@coouge Agree to disagree then. I personally thought the gameplay was really well thought out, and the game didn’t feel rushed to me.
