The worst sailing ive had from orkney was on the Pentland ferry. It was so rough we were at about 5 knots at best and having to stop all the time. On that ferry you can see down into the vehicle area. Alarms were going off all over the deck, and vehicles crashing into each other as they slid about. The swell must have caught them off guard as they normally chain down for rough crossings. eventually we came to a complete halt as the deck crews tried to chain down what they could. a nightmare of a crossing that took many hours.
@@MirageEntsUK. Indeed, the siren song of every vehicle ferry, on every route, on every crossing, as it touches the ramp. Must drive the deck crew mad.
Nearly as rough as the Isle of man steam packet sailings on the old side loaders Ben my chree and lady of mann and the likes. One year trying to come back from dublin to the island, it was so rough that the dockers had to time each car like a rally car to get them up the loading ramp because it was moving in every axis... Up, down, side to side!! NEVER... EVER... AGAIN!!!
And to think it is full of huge trucks and cars, as well as the passengers. Speaking from experience. Amazes me every time.

@@MirageEntsUK I guess it's fun trying to get your damages covered by the ferry company.
Watching this video makes you realise that light aircraft and calm weather have their place.
Oh ! That looks like a lovely day on the water.
Roch.... much that I like being on Northlink's ferries to Orkney & Shetland that sea crossing would be the exception.

Through the pent land firth on a spring tide may be the roughest scheduled crossing in the world!!!
A nice watch below wouldn't do us any harm while ye roll that old chariot along!
That look a wee bit rough.!!!!
P.S. Are the pumps in good order, mates?
Must be breakfast time I'd say........!
Geeeez! What a ride
The good old hamnavoe
Is she at anchor? Broken down? Run aground? She doesn't seem to be making any progress so I just wondered!
Slow progress, but just left port heading to Orkney
Is there damage? Is wave height assessed for danger prior to cast off?
Is it your collection video?
I'd that ship carrying cargo or passengers. Doesn't appear to have containers?
passengers and also cargo lorries in the belly of it
@@MirageEntsUK okay. I hope the cargo lorries are belted down tightly.
What's the name of the ship? Be handy to look it up?
@@stevensmith4752 better late than never.
She is the M.V. Hamnavoe. A very sturdy and capable vessel.
Wtf wants to go to Orkney. If that's what you've got to endure. To get there?
Worth it tho when you get there
Remind me not to go to Orkney
Don't go to Orkney.
Well that was fuckin inspiring 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬
